John blinked. That was a lot of stat points and tokens.
"Yes, it is. Before you ask, there is a cap on how much overage bonus you can receive for a couple of main reasons. To prevent people from remaining in one world for years on end, returning here after they completely demolished the canon and getting a major boost, then going right back to that world." Alec said, answering John's first question before he had even thought of it. "The other reason is to minimize the impact of doing what you just did, and cheesing a world with advanced technology just for stats. We want to see stuff like that, but we won't award you crazy amounts of tokens because of it."
"I see." He kind of did. They didn't want him to become a god by these stats alone, just stronger. A thought crossed his mind just then. "Hey, if I add these stats to my Intelligence and Wisdom, will that cure my mental illnesses like my heart condition was cured by adding to my Endurance?"
"No. We allowed that at the beginning just to let you get back on your feet, so to speak. The only thing that will cure your problems will be the Gatcha. Adding points to either of those will give you a boost, letting you stay awake longer before mental exhaustion sets in and triggers your episodes. It just won't prevent it from happening. Here, let me show you something." Alec said, then did something with John's screen, bringing up those two stats.

"Right now, when you are well rested in the morning, the stats sit at their higher number. As the day progresses or you experience more mental strain, they slowly begin to drop. The more tired you are, the more 'loopy' you get, as you had described it while in Warcraft. Once you start dipping below 18 in either stat, you will start getting more irritable. Once below 15, you will start to experience your episodes. Jokes aside about people being as smart as a brick, once you start dipping below 12, you will see a greatly increased chance of manic episodes, and you will need significant amounts of time to recover from that, not just a good night's sleep.
You were partially correct about Substance X exacerbating your problems, but that was because it was masking the warning signs that you were pushing yourself too far. Used as the training aid that it was designed to be, there should be zero side effects. Use it as a way to stay awake for long periods, and you will experience serious cognitive issues. Always use medication as directed by your medical professionals." Alec expined at length.
"Umm, you guys didn't expin anything about it to me, though. In fact, it was that horrible drink in The Great Cleric, and you guys gave me the pills with no instructions included." John replied, shaking his head at Alec's joke.

"How do you know the package was unmarked?"
"Moving on," Alec replied with a grin. "Any questions on the changes you made?"
John was smiling as he went through the list. Despite losing his eye, he found a way to make it so he experienced fewer episodes until he was properly fixed up.
"Why does that child's name have a bunch of gibberish after it? Or is that going to be another 'You'll find out next time, maybe' answer?"
"Next time. I will say ask Eli when you return. You two actually have a few things in common." Alec replied cryptically.
"Eli? The footman? Okay... I have barely said a dozen words to him since he joined us. Why... never mind." John replied, confused at the answer. Maybe it was his son? "How about the Sword? Will you tell me more about that now?"
"Hah, a little. Its magic is fundamentally different than every other type you have come across. It is fueled by your emotions, not mana. Here is a very brief history of its origin. In the world it was made in, a long, long time ago, it was designed to combat war wizards. At the time, all those wizards used a form of concept magic, the most powerful form of magic across the omniverse. It's actually an inferior version of what we use here in DEN.
There are two sides to this form of concept magic, additive and subtractive. Additive will make things, add to things, while subtractive will take things away. With just these two forms of magic, a war wizard's only limits were their imagination. Great wars were fought between these wizards, and when the death toll finally became high enough, something had to change. That was how this sword had come to be made. Its use has changed over time, which doesn't really matter for you, as you are not battling demigods in human form right now.
So, you have unlocked its additive side in full, and the weapon has become bonded to your soul. You want to make something you are angry with explode with your power? Funnelling that rage through the sword will make it happen. It also has the side effect of boosting your magic power, making even your weaker spells perform beyond their intent, as it adds power to them from your anger. I would compare it to the Divine Dragons' powers from DxD, but you don't know what they are... let's just say you unlocked the boosting abilities of that weapon when you killed that wolf. It also boosted your body's energy and your confidence, making you think that you were stronger than you actually were, so be aware of that in the future."
"What, and this is a high tier weapon?"
"It has several drawbacks, though we removed the worst one of turning you into essentially a ratgoblin if you didn't unlock both sides of the magic, or didn't fully become the bdes master. Try to kill someone you consider an innocent person, and you will find out...well... I suggest you don't and leave it at that."
"Why would I ... wow... even like this? It’s incredible." John said, amazed by the piece of steel that was beside his chair.
"The only reason it isn't in the special tier weapons is that to unlock everything else, you need to meet some very particur criteria. You might never come across those in any of these worlds."
"And you are not going to tell me what those are?"
"Great question! Next question!" Alec replied, his shit eating grin telling John that was all he was going to get out of him. Still, that is a lot more information than he had before.
"Fine... let's see. In that vision, why did I see myself on my father's throne with his corpse at my feet? Wasn't the prince a padin? Why was he helping the Scourge?"
"Hmm... well, in the original canon, he became corrupted and turned into an undead. His anger blinded him, and he was still fairly inexperienced despite what your memories are telling you. Even the good can make irreversible mistakes, John. Don't forget that."
"That makes a bit more sense now... sounds like a tragic story."
"It really was." Alec agreed. "Shall we move on to your stats?"

"Great. Now put enough into my Wisdom and Intelligence to put me up to fifty in each, then the rest into endurance." He replied, hoping this would help him stay in good shape as long as he got regur sleep. If they were not going to fix him right away, he would at least start mitigating his problems.

John's mind began to clear even more, and he felt full of energy like he did as a much younger man, almost like he was back in his prime. He took a deep breath and slowly released it. Yeah, he felt he could jog for hours like this now and not be out of breath. He gnced at his new stats.

"No. Remember, the only reason you never really experienced a lot of those symptoms back on Earth was that you were always napping. When was the st time you took an afternoon nap since you got to DEN? Take better care of your body, and it will take care of you."
"Well, hopefully this helps." He said, then looked over at the Gatcha list. He had enough for two special-tier items, but wasn't sure if he was ready to burn the points on them yet. If he grabbed a vehicle, it might turn out that he needed a weapon or equipment. He could add more stats, but he might need the points to repce some of his gear.
Actually, I am going to save it. If I do have to go back to The Great Cleric to get healing spell tomes, I can see about buying some amazing gear here for my party, and power our way through that dungeon and get stronger. Honestly, that should be the same for the LAADS too... If I can get a bunch of even mid-tier weapons for them, that would give each of them hitting power on par with a padin. Not to mention, I should look at other options for the survivors in High School of the Dead.
"Now you are thinking like a DEN protagonist, John. Will you take your normal Eroge rolls at least?"
"Yes, please. Who knows, you might cure me and wasting those stat points on Intelligence and Wisdom would have been a waste."

"Some made up stats you threw at me to tell me my body and mind are messed up? The physical stats make some sense, but I don't feel smarter because you hit me with those stat changes, just slightly clearer of mind if that makes any sense."
"Try to do some calculus next time you get a chance, and get back to me if it did or not. Intelligence does two main things. One, it lets you gain and retain knowledge more quickly and easily. Two, it will increase your spells' base power. Your healing spells will be more effective, and your attack magic more damaging. If something resists your spells, the higher your intelligence, the higher your chance of overcoming that resistance.
Wisdom is actually more abstract. It works across all your skills in some way, helping you instinctively use your body and skills better. With accumuted life experiences, most people get wiser with age, which is why the old adage 'Old Age and Treachery Will Always Defeat Youth and Skill' generally holds true. It also helps resist hostile magic, reducing status ailments and reducing incoming magical damage. In short, Wisdom is possibly the most underrated stat, and it was your highest until a few minutes ago."

"Probably. Well, I guess I will pn out our next weekend getaway while I am in there. Ciao." Xiaolin replied, then dissapeared into the door with her camera.
Alec just shook his head, taking a sip of his drink.
"Yeah, he will need a break after this one." He said to no one in particur, then disappeared as well, leaving the stage empty except for the ten doors.
