Chapter 37- Visions of the present

I wake up in a familiar white room. My eyes still slightly blurry.

"I'm not in the mood, Loki." I yawn.

My eyes slowly adapt to the rooms light. Something's different from st time. I look around, the usual white room is much rger. The figure that stands in front of me is gone. Repced by a rge pond, a man standing on water in the middle.

"I'm not Loki." The person says in a somber tone.

They turn around, they have rge bags under their eyes. They walk over to me. Stepping on the water like it's nothing. Who is this person?

"I'm Balder, the god of magic." They tell me.

The god of magic? I thought he was dead...

  "I'm his predecessor." They say.

"Hey, I don't like when you gods read my mind!" I scold him.

"Sorry," Balder bows, "Loki spoke well of you, so I wished to see you with my own eyes."

"Thanks... Did you just want to meet me?" I ask.

Balder seems to jump at this. It's hard to tell if he's surprised or if he just remembered something.

"I have a request! Or, a deal if you'd like." He tells me.

I don't usually make deals with gods... I really don't trust this Balder guy.

"That's too bad. I thought you'd like to hear me out." He says.

He slowly starts walking back to the middle of the pond.

"Wait! I'll hear you out!" I tell him, "What's this deal you're proposing?"

"I'll give you some information in return of a promise." He says.

"What kind of promise is this?" I ask.

He pulls a small orb from a pocket. He rubs it slightly and looks deep into it. It's a strange sight, him going from a conversation to only caring about his orb. He sets it in my hand.

"I ask of you to not kill my son! He's just miss guided." He excims.

  "Who's your son?" I ask.

He looks at me, guilt fills his eyes.

"The colossal, you and your friends are killing. In return I give you an all seeing orb." He says.

"What's an all seeing orb?" I ask.

He grabs my hand and lifts it up to my face.. He rubs the orb, my vision grows blurry, I close my eyes. I can see an image in my mind. It's a blurry vision of a women on a throne. Somebody walks up to her, the person bows. The image becomes clearer after this, almost like I'm seeing it with my own eyes.

"Just a few more months, dy Hel." The person begs.

"I gave you my power! You have hundreds of holy knights at your disposal, and yet you still fail!" The person on the throne yells, "You can't even kill one child. How are you ever going to kill Odin."

"I am the goddess of blood! You can't boss me around." The person begging shouts.

The person on the throne stands up to these words. She puts her hands up and walks over to the person.

"Kara, I trust you with my power. We're together in this!" The dy says.

Kara? Is this Kara and the blood goddess. Kara grabs her sword, stabbing the goddess of blood in the stomach.

"You're just another person in my way!" Kara shouts.

The vision in my mind becomes blurry again. It vibrates quickly, like somebody's moving a picture wildly. My eyes open, Balder holds the orb in front of my face.

"Do you accept?" He says bluntly.

"Yeah, I'll try to spare your son." I tell him.

He gives me smile. His finger move quickly to my forehead, lightly tapping them. I fall to my back, waking back up in the carriage. I hate the way they do this. I just wake up in some blindingly bright room and then they fling me around when their finished with me. I reach into my pocket, I grab a round object. The orb, I should find somewhere safe to keep this. I grab my backpack. Pcing the orb inside the small pocket.

I have to find a way to beat the colossal without killing him. Not to mention I have to convince the others to do the same. Right now, we're in the fairy's territory. The Elven territory is next. I've been almost everywhere, we're also right next to the waterfall Vincent told me about. What does Balder even want me to do once I beat his son? Maybe I can trap him in my barriers?

Pyra wakes up a few minutes after me. She sits across from me. She stares at me, her eyes outlining me.

  "Is something wrong?" I ask.

"Your aura! It's even rger than before. It's almost like a the magic god blessed you themself." She excims.

I don't think Baldur blessed me. Unless he tricked me, and made a... Holy shit! Did I just become a holy knight? No, the orb must have a rge aura!

"You really do waste your potential! I'd love to teach you magic!" Pyra leans in close to me, staring deeply into my eyes.

"I don't know... I'm not very good at that stuff." I dismiss.

She once again starts to poke at me.

"Can you not touch me like that?" I ask her.

"Sorry! It's just so hard not to! You're just such a special case." She sighs.

She starts to make a pouty face. She's mad she can't touch me? This girls a real mystery. Marty wakes up a little after our conversation. He sits up next to Pyra.

"Marty! He won't let me look at him." She says.

  Marty looks over at me.

"That's kind of weird Caleb. A person can't even look at you?" He ughs.

"Yeah, if touching all over me is 'looking' at someone." I joke.

  Marty looks at Pyra.

"Pyra! We're on a mission, you can't just harass out teammate. Or, you can't harass Caleb." He says, "He's my favorite student."

It's funny to hear Marty say that. I did always suspect it, and I guess I am the new strongest. Pyra acts kind of like a child around Marty. One second she's stone cold, the next compining like you stole her favorite toy.

"Caleb, this only your second mission! Don't get cocky just because you're stronger than average." Marty tells me.

"I won't! Though, can I ask you something?" I say.

"What's on your mind." He says.

"Can we not kill the colossal?" I ask.

Both of their eyes widen. Marty opens his mouth to speak but nothing comes out. He looks to the sky, he starts speaking but with a bit of a stutter.

"Why would we do that?" He asks.

"I don't know... Research, or maybe it could have a cure to the giant disease." I say.

I can see Marty actually consider this. He's still definitely surprised by my request.
