"Do you actually know how to read a map?" Henry asks.
"Yeah, I've got this!" I dismiss.
"How are we lost then?" Henry says.
We've been traveling for a day. We don't know where Kara took the group nor if the group's even still alive. I hope Peter and Garret are okay.
"Just give me the map! I'll take us back home." Henry shouts as he grabs the map from me.
I'm going to be honest, I have zero idea on how to read a map. We're walking through a forest. I don't want to travel all the way back to the giant territory. Last time took almost two months.
"We'll check out Tristane, then move back to Revillion." Henry tells me, "That alright with you?"
"Yeah, that'll be good." I mutter.
We reach the end of the forest. There's a rge grass field, the sun is bright. I look around and see a small vilge.
"Let's go to that vilge." I tell Henry.
"Yeah, we could pick up some supplies there." Henry agrees.
We head towards the vilge, the field smells nice. I haven't been somewhere with scenery this beautiful in forever. We get to the vilge.
"Should we check into an inn?" I ask.
"No, we still have more daylight." Henry dismisses.
"Okay man, just don't compin when your feet hurt." I joke.
We walk around the town, I find a small bakery. I head inside and look around. They've got a lot of gss cases with loaves of bread. I see a good looking pastry, it has jelly on it and is covered in cocoa powder. I walk over to the front desk.
"Can I have one of those pastries with jelly on it?" I ask the clerk at the counter.
"Here you go!" They hand me the pastry, "That'll be ten copper."
I hand them the money and walk out of the shop. Henry's standing by the entrance with his arms crossed.
"What the hell are you doing?" He yells.
"Eating, duh." I say sarcastically.
"You mean wasting money?" He says.
I eat the rest of my pastry in one bite.
"Look man! What's your problem with me?" I shout.
Henry steps back after this. His face turns from anger to regret.
"We're still not friends! So it feels like I don't have any right now." Henry mutters.
"I've felt that this whole mission. You guys kept dismissing my leadership just because you didn't know me." I tell him.
He gives me an awkward look. His arms still crossed.
"I want to help you get your friends back, you just have to trust me." I tell him.
"Okay... I'll trust you more, but don't waste our money anymore." Henry chuckles.
Henry's pretty good at lightening a mood. He and Reed would be a great duo. We walk around some more. Henry finds a small fruit stand. There's a few I remember but there's also some I don't recognize. I see an apple but there's also a few weird ones. I spot one with green horns, another that looks like a dragon fruit but the little spikey things circle around it.
"What's that?" I say while pointing at the horned fruit.
"That's a bison fruit." Henry tells me.
Henry picks out twenty fruits and leaves the stand. He leaves me standing there so I have to jog back to him.
"Are we gonna pick up any meat?" I ask.
"We'll get some in the forest!" He says.
"Have you ever eaten monster meat? It's horrible." I tell him.
"I haven't, but with your power I have a chance to finally taste it." He jokes.
Monster meat is the worst thing I've ever tasted. Peter did make some good wolf stew, but other than that it's torture. I'll just eat it! I can't get used to the revolutionary lifestyle. We reach the end of the vilge, but there's a small man standing there.
"I can't let you leave." The man says.
"Why not?" I giggle.
The man pushes his head down, still keeping his eyes on me. He slowly walks forward, me and Henry step back. I'm about to turn around and leave but a woman walks up behind us.
"You two boys should stay the night!" She says.
"No thanks, we really should be leaving." Henry says.
She gives Henry a sharp stare.
"You will stay here!" She yells, her voice booming.
The ground shakes a little, her face a bright red. She steps up to us with a lighter expression on her face.
"Sorry to yell like that! Please stay." She begs.
She reaches out to Henry. Before she can touch him Henry pulls out his sword and cuts the woman's head off.
"What are you doing?" I shout.
"Their demons! We've got to get out of here." Henry tells me.
Demons? What're those? We turn to leave but the man in front of us becomes rger, and his skin sheds off of him. He turns into a rge red creature. The woman behind us turns into a very simir but smaller creature. Henry pushes me towards the rger demon.
"You've got that one! I'll get this one." He ughs.
"Fuck you!" I mutter.
I grab out my sword. The demon ughs.
"You think that'll cut me?" the demon says.
"I could cut you with a butter knife!" I chuckle.
The demon grits his teeth and sms his palm into the ground. He bends down and screams, it's loud and shakes the ground.
"Us demons are the greatest sound magicians in history! I could scream this city into ruins." The demon burst out ughing.
"I don't care what type of magic you use! I'll cut down anyone in my way!" I shout.
She demon stands up tall and pulls his knee up. He stomps down at where I stand. I move out of the way and cut his foot. I make it half way through his ankle before my sword stops. I can't move it any further. The demon move his foot and shrinks down in size. He stands at the same height as me but still in his red monster form.
"This size is much more fair." The demon ughs.
I punch the demons face. He stutters back, and I grab my knife. I cut into the demons chest and cut it straight open. The demon begins to bleed and he stumbles back again.
"How could a human do this! To me!" He yells.
I run at him and pin him to ground. I stab my knife into the demons face. His hand twitches so I stab him again. His blood spew onto my shirt, leaving a rge mess. I stand up and walk over to my sword. Over at Henry's fight, he cuts the demons legs slightly. The demon just stands there and ughs at him while not even flinching.
"You doing good over there?" I joke.
"Shut the hell up and help me!" Henry yells.
I run behind the demon and jump onto it's chest. I stab my sword into it's heart making it fall over.
"You're a complete mess!" Henry says.
"Yeah, they have a lot more blood than most creature!" I say.
I look back into town and see people watching. One of them begins to transform into a demon. Then another person, and another. Eventually most of the town is demons.
"We should probably run..." I say.
"Agreed!" Henry says while running off. I follow him, until we get maybe a mile out of town.
"Pretty sure we're safe." I sigh.
"I forgot our food!" henry says.
