I wake up in the middle of the night. It's nearly pitch bck, so I light a ntern. I get out of bed and walk out of our tent. There's a person with a cloak standing by the entrance.
"I've been waiting." The person says.
"Who are you?" I ask.
They walk up and whisper something in my ear.
"You know me! I just came to warn you." They whisper.
"What are you talking about?" I say with confusion.
They lean against me, and move their face close to mine. I can barely see their face. All I can make out is their smile.
"Just look out during that mission of yours. My people won't hold back once they see you." They tell me.
The person gets off me and walks away. They give me a small wave, then their body gets covered in a dark aura. Bats float out of them and they disappear. I swear I heard that voice before, but I just can't remember where. How did they know me? How'd they know about my mission? I walk over to where they disappeared at. There's a small knife there. It has a dark aura, much like that women. I take it and walk back to the tent. They didn't let out any malice towards me. Maybe they want to help? I'll talk to Vincent or Marty about it in the morning. For now I'm too sore from the tests to deal with this.
In the morning I walk over to Vincent's tent. Before I walk in a rge group catches my eye. People are arguing. I go towards them to hear what they're saying.
"How do we know you're not a spy huh?" One shouts.
"I could say the same about you!" The other says.
They must be talking about the spies I caught recently. Somebody grabs me on the shoulder. I flip around and put my hands in a boxing stance. Vincent stands over me with a confused look.
"What are you, uh... What're you doing?" Vincent asks me.
"Sorry, you just spooked me." I tell him.
"Sorry about that. I didn't mean to startle you man." Vincent chuckles.
I give Vincent a stank eye. I stand up straight and show him the knife.
"Mind if we talk?" I ask him.
He nods and we walk over to his tent. He closes the entrance and sits down at a table. I sit on the other side of the table and set the knife onto the table.
"Somebody came to me st night. They left this." I tell him.
Vincent starts to inspect it. He picks it up and takes it over to a book shelf. He sets it on one of the shelves and he searches through the books. He grabs a green book with a sword on the front. He grabs the knife and walks back over to me. He sets the knife and book next to each other and begins to flip through pages.
"Here it is! Caleb, come here." He says.
I walk over to him. I look down at the book, the page has a picture of the knife. There's some text that reads, "Moonlit knife and moonlit bde. This pair of weapons packs serious punch, the knife can cut any physical object while the sword is able to cut anything made from mana."
"This is a strong weapon you got here!" Vincent says, "You wanna keep it?"
"Yeah, I'll take it. But why'd someone just leave this lying around?" I ask.
Vincent taps me on the shoulder and chuckles.
"Stop asking questions and just take the bde. It'll help you more than hurt you!" Vincent says while he walks out of the tent.
I walk out of Vincent's tent and walk around. I stare at the knife for awhile. If this person can just leave it this powerful of an item behind... What kind of tricks could they possibly have up their sleeve?
During one of the interrogations of the spies, Vincent accidentally killed one. Now the other won't talk, especially to Vincent. So it's now my job to get him to spill the information on Kara. I walk into the room with the spy.
"You people really think you can get something out of me?" The spy ughs.
"I can get more than enough out of you!" I tell them.
I'm really trying to act serious. I'm obviously mad these guys poisoned Mark but I'm not just gonna kill our hostages. We need them if we want to stop Kara. I pull out the knife and put in the spy's face.
"What's this? You think a little knife is gonna make me talk?" They joke.
I poke the knife into the ground. It cuts through it like cheese, even though it's made from concrete. It's shocking how easy that was. The books really don't exaggerate. The spy looks down in shock. His jaw completely drops.
"Wanna talk now?" I say in a serious tone.
The spy looks up and me. He flexes his jaw, to show he isn't gonna speak. I lightly tap his arm, it begins to bleed quickly. His eyes start to water, and he clenches his teeth.
"You gonna talk now?" I ask.
He doesn't react to my words. I slowly start pushing the knife deeper. Blood begins to pour from his arm. His face is turning red. Water flows from his eyes down his face.
"I'll take it off if I really have to." I tell him.
"I'll talk dammit!" He shouts.
"Good... Now mind if I ask a few questions?" I ask.
The spy gives me a small nod and looks over at his arm. The bde cut deeper than I thought it did. Maybe a third of the way through his arm.
"Are there anymore spies in our camp?" I ask.
"No." They answer.
"Do you know where Kara is?" I ask them.
"No." They answer.
They're clearly lying. I punch them in the face. I begin walking out and tell them one more thing.
"I'll just get Vincent. Then you can deal with him." I tell them.
As I walk out I can hear their scream.
"No! I'll answer your questions! I won't lie anymore, I promise!" They yell pathetically.
I feel bad for the guy but he kind of pissed me off there. I really wouldn't be a good detective.
