We got out of town as fast as possible. Louis's students are still there, if they learned what happened they may try to kill me. I do wish I could say goodbye to Mark but I did what I had to. Without Louis our mission becomes much harder. It may even be impossible. Not to mention we have no idea where the revolutionaries are. Or we thought that. Ann has apparently been in cohorts with the leader for a long time now. Ann and her father have been pnning this since before the king even rose to power. The work the chief had been doing before he died was spreading the message to other vilges. The revolutionaries are located in the giant territories. That is just a few days walk away. The only problem is we can't stop in any vilges on the way there. Orcs don't like us, and there's monster everywhere. Some nights we will even have to sleep out in a trees if we get unlucky.
We've just walked past our first vilge. Luckily the others kept out wagon from before, so the walk is quick. During the time I was gone Reed progressed heavily in magic. He's learned some very hard magic that takes most years to learn. One spell allows him to control trees, once he does he can make roots or change the trees size. He shows me how it works by making one tree grow sixty feet tall, he made another grab Wick and pick him up. That was just one of many spells he has now. Ann says he's far surpassed her magic level. We just fully passed the vilge when Wick tells us we should go back. We're running out of food and we could just grab something quickly. We all agree that could be a good idea. We walk back and into the vilge. Looking around there's actually a lot of humans here. We stop by a small food shop and pick up a rge bag of food. We quickly walk back out of the vilge when someone taps me on the shoulder. I turn around and it's a rge bald man. The same man Louis had taught. He smile at me and start talking.
"Caleb! Good to see you, why'd you leave so soon?" He asks, "You didn't do anything bad, did you?"
He gives me a creepy smile and turns around. He just walks off. The others give me a confused look and I tell them he was one of Louis's students. I can't tell if he knows or not. But even then it feels as if someone is watching me. I suggest we leave as quick as possible and the others agree. We walk fast trying to avoid anybody else. We get away from the vilge and back into the forest. The trees around here are almost all dead. The grass and leaves were grey. Monsters id behind the trees watching anything on paths. Most of these monsters are rge. In the human territory the most common thing in the forests was a wolf. Now all we see is shadows that look nothing like wolves. Some monsters come closer than others. I see at least three bees floating around, the only problem is they're huge and have multiple stingers nearly a foot in length. There's also rge spiders. Some trees have people inside them. All you can see is bloody body parts hanging out of them.
We reach the end of the forest. There is a very rge city with wall around it. There's archers on the top of the wall and a huge mansion in the middle of the city that shows over the wall. We walk around the wall to a gate. The gate has a huge line of people. Some of them are orcs others are humans. There's even mixtures of giants and demons. Ann tells us we should get in line so we have a pce to stay. I'm not so sure about this but she insists, saying we're all tired. We agree and get in line. It takes nearly two hours before it's our turn. There's a man covered in armor. He asks the reason we need in. We tell we're just staying for a little bit. Another man comes up and asks to search our weapons and wagon. We let him, it takes a little for him to look through everything. They eventually let us in. First thing we do is find an inn. There's one with a five bed room for ten copper a night. We give them one silver which buys us ten nights. The others got even more rich while I was gone. We don't need to worry about money for a long time.
We walk around town for a little but there's not much to do. The shopping district is rge and we find some nice shops. Eventually Wick sees a shop he recognizes. We walk in and there's an older man standing at the counter. It's the same one Wick had got us work with st time. He's happy to see us and we ask him what he's doing here. He actually lives here and was only in the other vilge because of the giant destroying his shops supplies. He asks if we need any other work and we ask what he needs. Crime rates have been up so he needs protection during the day. Me and Wick decide to do it and he tells us to come by tomorrow then. We head out and walk around the city a little more. We go to the mansion to see what's over there. But as we start walking over I get a tap on the shoulder. It's Louis's old student again. This time he looks upset.
"Look Caleb. I'm sorry what happened." He says.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"I know Louis attacked you." He says, "I don't bme you, you just protected yourself."
"Thanks for understanding." I say, "I didn't want him to die. He just... Killed himself."
We walk over to a bench and talk for a little. I tell him how Louis had cut his own head off after learning of our intentions. He understands what had happened but he tells me the others aren't like him. The other three want me dead. I ask him what's gonna happen but he assures me he will talk to them about it but I'll need to watch my back from now on. He leaves and tells me to contact him once I'm in touch with the revolutionaries.
