Chapter 5- Trails

It's finally time to set out for a new pce to stay. We only have one bag of food to split between us and some mashed vegetables if we really need them. Ann says that should be enough but I'm pretty skeptical. Even if the closest vilge is only a few hours away we don't know where the burning man came from nor do we know where he went. Not to mention we don't even know which direction we should go in. We have two targets we must decide from. Ann suggests the king but Wick is saying we should go after the burning man. Ann knows more about this pce but even still the burning man hurt her family. It's weird how she wants to go after the king so bad even if our other option killed her dad. Reed doesn't care either way, he just wants to get home. Mal feels the burning man would be better. Even with Mal and Wick agreeing the burning man would be better Ann pursuits on going after the king. Wick pushes me and Reed to side with him. I tell him I don't want to take a side right now. He yells at me saying we don't even know if she'll stay with us once we leave town. I eventually get him to stop pushing us but then he moves onto Ann. Wick starts pushing her on why she persists.

"That monster hurt you personally! Why wouldn't you want that man dead?" Wick asks angrily.

"The king is a far worse person." Ann responds.

"What has he even done that's so bad in your eyes?" Wick asks.

Ann looks down towards the ground. Looking defeated, but even still she answers Wick's question.

"He has ensved thousands of people!"

"What's worse than? Murder or svery?" Wick says.

"He ensved my brother!" Ann yells.

Ann starts to look as if she's crying. Wick gets quiet after that. Ann has been through a lot recently. I suggest we talk about it ter, when everyone has the right head space. Ann nods and Wick doesn't say anything. We start walking towards a close town Ann knows about. There should be someone who could help us there since Ann's father was close to many of the people living there. It's only a few hours away so we won't need very much food for the trip.

Other than all that Reed and Mal got close quick. Reed is pretty good with kids. For most of the walk Reed carried Mal, I got stuck with the bags of food. Wick and Ann didn't carry anything the entire trip. God I am so jealous. They just get to spend the whole trip with nothing. Ann walks up to me and thanks me for standing up for here. I tell her it was really nothing and Wick should have just minded his own business. She rebukes this saying Wick does have a point. I point out she's the one living here, so once it comes down to it she'll get the final say. We talk for a little longer and she reassures that she wants to stay with us. Either way one dying will benefit her somewhat. Wick is quiet for a good majority of the trip. He's not mad just disappointed in himself. I try to talk to him but he avoids most of my talking points.

"I agree with Ann." Wick tells me.

"You don't have to agree just because you feel bad." I reassure him.

Five hours after we set out we reach the vilge. Or what used to be a vilge. All the house have been burnt down and no one seems to live here anymore. Either that or they all died. We all search the ruins for something. We don't know what we're looking for. It could be some kind of life or even food. We search for a long time by the time we're done it's already dark out. The next vilge is another three hours from here and we can't travel that long with somebody so young. Mal says it'll be fine. She already spent the st few months along. The problem is if we leave now we'll just be tired when we get to the next vilge. With no money we won't be able to have some pce to sleep so we just set up camp here. I ask Ann what were supposed to do once we arrive at the next town over. She says we'll get there early and go hunting or something. After that we can sell what we gather and possibly get a cheap inn. Me and Reed build a small fort out of burnt wood pieces. We all sleep there for the night and set out early in the morning. This time Wick has to carry the food and Mal walks. Everybody is in a much better mood than yesterday.

The walk is actually pretty quick. We get there very early and this time it's not fully destroyed. Me and Ann go see how much the cheapest inn is. We found one for only one copper a night. I don't don't know how much that actually is but Ann tells me it's probably the cheapest inn in the world. We walk out of the inn and inform the other three. We walked through a forest to get here. There should be some low level monsters there. Reed ask if maybe there's a guild here. Ann informs us there is one but not in Erin. Adventurers aren't very accepted here. Out in the territory of god is a huge amount of guilds. We go to the forest quickly. There's only one of us with a weapon and three of us with any fighting experience. So it takes nearly an hour to kill five wolves. We use Mal's knife to skin them, it's pretty disgusting. We head back into town and go around the shopping district. After a little bit of time we finally find somebody who'll take our wolf fur and meats. They tell us five copper per skin and three per pound of meat. Ann tell us it's easily a scam but it's all we've got. We sell it to him and end out with thirty four copper. Enough for a full month of staying here.

We buy a week of staying in one room. After than me, Ann, and Wick all go to buy some weapons. I find a ten copper sword and Wick gets an eleven copper spear. We didn't have enough money for anything else, but we can make even more money the next day. Once we get back Reed asks Ann to teach him magic. Mal seems to have told him about it's wonders and now he wants to learn extremely bad. Ann agrees but tell him they'd need a book of magic to bein. He ask how much that could be, and Ann responds with anywhere from four to six silver. Reed asks how much that is exactly and Ann responds with four to six hundred copper. It may be a few days before we can afford that.
