Arc III - Chapter III - Episode VII: "Sun and Moon"

  Lyte of Utopia

  Arc III: “Return of Darkness”

Chapter III: “Fading Darkness / Tales Untold”

  Episode VII: “Sun and Moon"

  [Solaris – Earth’s Solar System]

Since ancient times, Spirits have worn many shapes—resonance made visible. They are neither man nor woman; any “gender” they seem to have is only borrowed, mirrored from the hosts they’re bound to.

In the depths of Solaris’ outer dark, two astral spirits clashed—equal in Yield, neither willing to yield an inch.

But beneath their duel, Solaris’ Song of Aether suddenly warped—an off-key scarlet note blooming from within the system… like something half-unsealed had started to breathe.

Every collision sent resonance waves through the void—rippling magnetic fields, shivering planetary belts, and bending the flow of ambient aether like water around a blade.

After another clash, both spirits backed away from each other, ready to end the fight once and for all.

On the right, there was a spirit with a fiery orange, yellow, and red aura.

On the left was the other spirit, one with a calm white glow and an azure blue aura.

  This wasn’t new.

They had contested Solaris’ rhythm for eras—day against night, dominance against restraint.

And every cycle, one accusation returned like a tide: the Moon lived on stolen light.

“I, Lunario, will end you, Sol,” The spirit on the left said.

Sol—an old name for the Sun, spoken long before mortals charted Solaris.

“It’s Helios. In this era, they call me the Spirit of the Sun God. And I’m not the one falling tonight, Luna.”

  “Hmph. We’ll see about that.”

The scarlet note pulsed again—and both spirits felt it the same way: an opening.

  An advantage.

A threat that the other would surely exploit first.

The two gathered impossible amounts of aether—compressing Flow into orbs dense enough to mimic celestial bodies.

Helios, forming that which had the essence of a star, and Lunario forming a glowing orb that reflected the star’s light.

“Damn you… parasite. You don’t generate your own blaze; you refine mine. You’ve lived off reflected aether for eras… and now this scarlet leak appears, and you think I won’t notice you circling it like a vulture!” Helios said as it thrust its orb towards Lunario.

“Arrogant as always. You flood Solaris with solar pressure, then call the overflowing energy ‘order.’ That scarlet note isn’t my feeding ground—it’s your flaring shadow. If anyone’s trying to weaponize the leak… It’s you.”

Lunario pushed its own orb forward.

Another surge from the scarlet note—a tug, like a rift taking interest. Their orbs collided… and the recoil didn’t just push them back—it hooked them.

It dragged their astral bodies down the warped resonance line—straight into Earth’s gravity.

[Near the North Pole – Hidden Heights]

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“Damn… I can’t get this barrier to stay up,” Akira muttered, palms glowing as his Flow pressed into layer after layer. “Every time I seal it… It collapses. Like the Dark Heart is destroying the barrier.”

  Then Akira’s spine tightened.

Something entered Earth’s atmosphere—two somethings, split across the planet like mirrored chords.

And behind them… that same off-key scarlet pressure, faint but present, like a wound refusing to close.

Hmm!? Akira sensed a strange aether signature. What is that? I’m sensing a larger aether source. Is it Apocalypse? No… it doesn’t feel like it. “Let’s go check it out, Spirit!”

Akira flew into the air to intercept the aether signature.

  “What the hell is that?!”

Akira watched as a fiery spirit fell into the ocean. He dove under the water to drag it out and brought it back to his shrine in Hidden Heights.

“You alright? What happened to you?”

“Argh…” the spirit winced. “I was in combat against my archnemesis—Lunario. We’ve contested Solaris’ rhythm for eras… but this time, it tried to turn a new distortion to its advantage.”

“Your archnemesis? And… what’s up with your body? You’re not an Earthling.”

“No, I’m not. I’m not a mortal either. I am Helios,” the spirit rasped. “A solar deity-spirit—the Sun’s will made audible.

“Spirit? Whoa, I’ve never seen a spirit in the flesh! Flesh? Well, in person or something I guess, ha-ha.”

“Hmm…” Helios inspected Akira, intrigued by the nature of his soul. “You… you’re a Spirit Tamer? No, but you seem inexperienced with spirits… just what are you?”

“Well, I wouldn’t say I’m a tamer. But I do have a Spirit sealed inside of me. My name’s Akira, and I have the Spirit of Utopia inside of me.”

“Utopia… that’s a name I haven’t heard in decades.” Helios thought for a moment. “Say, you think you could do me a favor?”

  “A favor?”

“In my current state, my ethereal being is too unstable. So, I would like it if you would take care of my archnemesis for me.”

“Take care of them? Don’t you think you should finish your own fight? I don’t want to come between your grudge. Besides what’s in it for me?”

“Make me your Covenant,” Helios said. “Bind our spirits. I’ll stabilize inside your soul… and you gain my Solar Craft.”

“Hmm. That’s intriguing, but still, it’s not my battle to fight.”

“Then hear the truth—why I came to blows with it this time. It already lives on my light… but the moment Solaris began bleeding that scarlet resonance, Lunario moved like it meant to drink the leak dry and drown the system in night.”

  [Five minutes later]

“Short version?” Helios snapped. “The Moon’s always wanted dominion. It survives by refining my output—fine. But now Solaris is leaking something vile, and Lunario thinks it’s its chance to tip the balance permanently. Well, I’m not letting it.”

Akira’s expression hardened. “So, if he gets that leak first… It’s not just your pride. It’s Solaris.”

  “I knew you were sharp.”

“So, how do we do this thing? How do I become your host?”

“It’s simple, just place your hand on my chest and recite the oath. It will come to you—the Song of Aether will whisper its words to you.”

“Alright, that seems easy enough. Ahem.” Akira cleared his throat, then placed his right hand on Helios’ chest. “I, Akira Lyte, God of Utopia, vow to wield Helios’ solar power—and burn away the darkness that threatens this world.”

After a bright flash of light, Helios’ body vanished, leaving Akira alone in the shrine.

This wasn’t possession. It was shared Flow—a Harmonic Covenant built on oath and resonance.

I can sense them… Akira thought as he focused his power to use Dragon Shift.

[Near the South Pole – Apocalypse’s Island]

Rikito sat on his knees in the throne room, with the empty, worn-down throne before him. He was deep in meditation, stirring the energies within his soul.

At the same time, a blueish-gray light fell through the sky. It crashed straight into Apocalypse’s castle, where Rikito was meditating.

“What!?” Rikito was startled, his focus broken.

He inspected the small crater that formed in the center of the room. He was surprised by the sight of an ethereal being.

“What… are you?” he asked it.

The astral being sat up from the crater and dusted itself off. It took to its feet and began to hover gracefully in the air.

“I am Lunario,” the spirit said calmly. “The Goddess of the Moon’s will… given form. It seems I crash-landed on this planet while immersed in combat. I believe my aggressor has also landed in this world. Interesting…”

It paused, looking up at the sky before continuing. “Helios calls me a thief… But it has never understood restraint. And now Solaris carries a scarlet distortion—an imbalance. Helios believes I will exploit it. I believe it already is.”

Lunario’s body started fading, its glow dimming.

  “You’re losing color,” Rikito noted.

With its hand pressed against its chin as it thought, Lunario acknowledged Rikito’s comment.

“Yes, it seems that I’ve exhausted too much energy, and I will soon disappear from this world. That would be a shame, considering it would mean that I lost to that arrogant fool.”

  “What does it matter?”

“Because this isn’t just a duel,” Lunario said. “It’s a dispute over dominance—and over a leak that could let one of us define Solaris forever.”

“You seem calm for someone who’s dying.”

“…Perhaps. Perhaps not. There is still a way that I may yet live.”

  “Really? How’s that?”

“Simple. I must find a suitable host to take me in. That will stabilize my being as I recover my power.”

“I see. Well, good luck with that.” Rikito turned around and walked back towards the throne to resume his meditation.

  “Wait,” Lunario said.

  “What?”

“Would you like to be my host? Mister—?”

  “Rikito. Rikito Ken.”

“Well? What do you say? Would you take a Covenant with me, Rikito Ken?” Lunario asked. “A stable vessel. A shared resonance.”

  “What’s in it for me?”

“You’ll gain my abilities. As well, I will be able to supply you with my energy.”

It is true that I’ve wanted a spirit… it would even the playing field against Akira. “Alright, I’ll do it.”

“Splendid. However, there is one thing you should know. My fight isn’t over yet, so we will likely have to engage that fool in combat.”

“Never mind that, how do I become your host?”

“It’s simple.” Lunario extended its hand out to Rikito. “Take my hand and repeat the words that flow into your mind.”

  Rikito took Lunario’s hand.

“I, Rikito Ken, The Dark Prince, vow to use the limitless power of the Moon, provided by the great Goddess, Luna, to save those in need from those who would abuse their power.”

A white flash snapped through Rikito’s meridians—Divine aether threading into his Flow like moonlight poured into ink.

“There’s a spirit core in you,” Lunario murmured. “Crude… but salvageable.”

Out of nowhere, a great presence appeared outside the castle.

“Come out, Lunario!” a voice thundered from beyond the ruined gates—heated, bright, and too familiar.

  Akira’s voice.

And something else layered beneath it—an ancient solar resonance, laughing like fire.
