Chapter I: “Cosmic Tournament”
Episode VI: “Akira’s New Spirit Resonance!”
Akira and Kyte both underwent powerful transformations.
Kyte had mysterious yellow and green highlights in what appeared to be Spirit Resonance, while Akira used a new, golden Spirit Resonance.
The shockwaves from their power knocked people over in the stands and sent the announcer flying.
W-what!? What is that? Are those both forms of Soul Resonance? Rikito thought as he watched from above, his eyes widening.
How long has he been able to do that? If he used that in our last battle, I would have been stomped!
“Alright. Let’s go!” Akira said to hype himself up.
This is insane! I’m using my new form, but this guy is still stronger than me, even if it’s not by much.
Akira’s creamy white aura was replaced by a fiery cloak of golden energy. Golden sparkles, golden eyes—like a heavenly being, he shone like a star.
Black tattoos ran up his arm and under his gi, shaping what appeared to be a dragon. They pulsated brighter with every heartbeat.
His hair stood up, starting to glow.
For the first time, the crowd wasn’t cheering— they were watching in awe.
Akira dashed at Kyte.
Halfway through his run, he vanished into thin air.
Soon after, Kyte also vanished until the two of them reappeared in the air, flying around at high speeds.
Kyte was slightly stronger, but Akira was much faster, allowing him to evade attacks and easily land his own.
Good. If things keep going like this, then I’ll be able to end this before I find out how long this form lasts!
Akira landed a series of combos on Kyte.
Enraged, Kyte tried to go on another rampage.

This time, Akira was able to stop him with low effort thanks to his speed.
This pushed Kyte to the edge. He was still flying above the arena, but he couldn’t stop panting.
Akira landed back down in the center of the arena, with Kyte directly above him.
“Grgh…”
Kyte could no longer control himself, as he was taken over by rage. He launched a massive green energy attack straight at the ground.
Oh no! If that hits, not only will it destroy this island, but it might even destroy the entire world!
“I must stop this! Star… BREAKER!”
Akira fired a massive beam attack of his own to counter Kyte’s.
Even with his ferocious energy, Kyte was no match for Akira’s attack. The Star Breaker vaporized Kyte’s art and easily hit him, too.
After the smoke cleared and the crowd finally settled, Akira could be seen in the arena with Kyte, there too. He received a lot of damage and returned to his natural state.
“It’s a good thing you survived that.”
“Grr…”
Kyte stood back up and started to undergo another transformation.
“Stop right there!” A cloaked individual said.
He appeared to be a spectator, but for some reason, he was at the benches with the competitors.
“That’s enough, Kyte. I’ve seen enough. It’s time to go.”
With that, Kyte surrendered the match and flew off with the cloaked man.
“That was weird…” Akira said as he powered down and walked off the arena.
“Uh… what a bizarre ending to such an outstanding match! The winner is Akira! Due to the current state of the arena, we are going to take an hour break to repair it. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
“You bastard,” Rikito said as he landed.
“Have you been able to do that this entire time?”
“Hehe, not exactly. You see, it’s actually something I figured out thanks to Asuka.
We spent these last two months training together while I was trying to find a way to improve my Spirit Resonance with Utopic aether. That’s when she explained how you went about combining the energy of your Demonic Base Form with your Spirit Ascension.
So, after getting some tips from her, I was finally able to use my Utopic energy to do the same with my Perfect Spirit Resonance. And here we are.
Soul Resonance: Utopic Spirit Resonance! Do you like it?”
“Hmph. I can do all the things you can do, but better. Try as you might, but I’ll still beat you,” Rikito stomped off.
“What’s his deal?” Asuka asked, wanting to check up on Akira.
“And nice job winning your match!”
“He’s just jealous about the new form you helped me reach. And I guess I won, but I get the feeling that it may have been a bit more difficult if the match continued.”
Asuka blushed after that.
“N-no, you found that power all on your own, I had nothing to do with that!” she said, waving her hands in his face.
“Hmm? But you did. I never would’ve gotten it down if you hadn’t helped me.
Anyway, I’m going to go check on Riella to see if she’s okay. There’s an intermission too, so I shouldn’t miss much.”
“R-right!”
[An hour later]
“Alright, folks! Now that the stage has been repaired, let’s move on to the next match! Our first contestant is… number 44, Lian! Our second contestant is number 657, Cart! Remember the rules, and let’s have a great match!”
[The infirmary]
“Hey, you’re finally awake.” Akira was watching over Riella.
“Ugh, how long have I been out for?”
“An hour or so.”
“Who fought while I was asleep?”
“There was this one kid who was pretty notable, but I guess it’s more important for you to hear about my match. I faced that weird guy named Kyte. Apparently, he’s also a Kaelithian, and he’s really powerful.”
“Did you win?”
“Yeah… but only because he surrendered. There was some other guy who was giving him orders. Something about ‘Seen enough,’ and then they left. Oh yeah, and he was also wearing this weird collar.”
“What!? I’ve got to go after them!” Riella sat up and tried to force her way out of the room.
“Wait! You’re not completely recovered yet! Besides, they’re long gone. Why do you even want to chase them?”
“It’s… probably related to my mission. I wasn’t sent here just to watch you.”
I figured.
“The patrol was here because we heard reports of members from an organization being spotted on Earth. The same organization I told you about before, the one that takes over planets to sell the inhabitants as slaves.
The UFA and the Cosmic Guard worked together to host this tournament. Their plan seems to have worked because they attracted the attention of one of the organization’s members.
Those collars are one of their signature tools for controlling their slaves. So yeah, that’s why I must go after them.”
“Okay… then I’ll go with you.”
“No.”
“No?”
“I need you to stay here and make sure that there aren’t any other members here. Can you do that for me?”
“…Alright, fine. But be careful, okay?”
“Of course!”
