Evening is here

Finally, evening. It felt like an eternity waiting for Anna to finish writing on the papers. I had been trying to figure out what to do with my newfound identity for hours. Even though it had all happened so quickly, becoming the third head was probably the best thing that could have happened to me.

And so I had to hold onto this position for as long as possible. Even though it was only a facade, I had to py this role as best I could. And since I was at the top of the crime food chain, I had to start acting like it, even though I didn’t know exactly what the crime was. I finally had to put those thoughts aside for ter because Anna stood up from her chair.

“So what now?” I asked as I stood up too.

“I’m going to change into something nicer for tonight.” She replied and without looking at me, she left and closed the wardrobe door behind her.

So I stood in the middle of the room while Anna changed. I started thinking again. There is still something I am missing. I need to know more than they tell me. I looked behind me at the table where Anna had been sitting before. I had to take a chance, and now was the best time.

I came closer to the table and started looking at what was on it. I started looking at the papers, the documents, all of them carefully. I didn’t have much time. Each document had a lot of text on it so I didn’t have time to read what was on them.

So I walked on. I went around the table and sat down on a chair. To my right, there were drawers built into the table. I opened the first one. There, was the same phone that Anna had used before. Next to it was a notebook simir to the one she had given me. I quickly opened it. There were numbers. No name or address. Just numbers.

I didn’t understand them and there wasn’t time for that. I closed the drawer and continued to the next one. When I opened it, there were more documents. Nothing interesting. So I went to open the st one. I felt the handle and pulled. But nothing. I looked closer and saw a keyhole.

“Bingo.” I thought there must be something important there but before I could start looking for the key…

“Evelyn!” Anna called out. I quickly looked in the direction where her voice came from and only saw the closed door. I was relieved.

“Y-yes?” I stood up and returned everything on the table to its original state.

“Can you come here for a moment? I need your help.”

“Yes of course.” I answered and followed her, but before that, I looked at the table to make sure everything was as it should be. Then I opened the door to the wardrobe. There she stood with her back turned in a beautiful gold glittering dress that almost reached the floor. She was looking at me through the reflection in the mirror she was standing in front of while holding her unbuttoned dress so that it wouldn't fall off.

"Don't look at me like that and help me." So, without hesitation, I went over to her and helped her put it on. She looked at herself in the mirror again and nodded.

"Great Evelyn. Now we can go." We finally moved somewhere. Anna walked back into her office with me but stopped at the entrance and looked at her desk. I thought I made a mistake somewhere when I was putting everything back in its original pce, but luckily, Anna turned around and continued, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Anna didn't wait and opened the door, as soon as she did that I heard it. It was music. Some types of electric music that is typical of clubs and parties. We continued down the hall as the music got louder until we finally reached the door that led to the club. She opened it without hesitation and then the volume of the music overwhelmed me.

It was really loud but that wasn't the only thing that surprised me. It was people. A lot of people. While the dark hall was illuminated by multi-colored lights fshing to the rhythm of the music, people were dancing, but some were just standing, and some were sitting in a few pces and talking. It was a typical club atmosphere.

While I was watching what was happening around me, Anna continued along the wall, towards the door that I already knew. She stopped in front of it and turned to me and said something. Unfortunately, I couldn't hear her because of the loud music but I guessed that she wanted me to follow her.

And so I continued, but before I reached her, I noticed James among those people. He was standing behind the bar, pouring drinks for people, along with another man I didn’t know. I was overcome by the desire to have a drink, but when I looked back at Anna, the desire passed. She just indicated with her head that I should follow her and opened the door and we both went through it. I was a little envious of those people, even though I’d never been the type of person to go to a party every week. But something inside me was pulling me there.

As soon as the door closed behind us, the loud music immediately stopped. I was quite surprised at how well it muffled the sound. Anna, having experienced this a thousand times before, continued and I followed her.

“You’ll enjoy something like that ter.” Anna said as if she had read my previous thoughts. “Unfortunately, we have other responsibilities now.” My response was just a disappointed nod of my head and a slight sigh.

We continued until we finally reached the end of the corridor, where two muscur men stood blocking our way. They both looked the same, short hair, clean-shaven, wearing bck T-shirts with the word security written on them, and they both looked scary. If I hadn’t been there with Anna, I would have turned around and run away. However, to my surprise, as soon as they saw us, they both stepped to the side so that we could pass without any problems.

I was a little disappointed when I didn’t see Greg, but he probably has a lot more responsibilities tonight than just guarding one door. New people, new faces. So while Anna continued without paying attention to them, I had a different pn. Since I was practically a boss, I thought it would be good to get to know the people who worked here. So I stopped in front of one of them. Despite my high heels, he was a head taller than me and just looked over my head.

“Hi, I’m Evelyn, and what’s your name?” I spoke up, but I didn’t get a response. It seemed more like when they heard me introduce myself, they both got more nervous and focused even more on the wall opposite them, which had nothing on it. So I waited and watched them. Finally, the man I was standing next to couldn’t take it anymore and looked at me out of the corner of his eye. When he noticed that I was still looking at him, he quickly went back to watching the wall without a beat.

I was a little disappointed and sad. I thought Greg was the only one who didn’t like to talk, but I guess they all are. The girls were so mean when we first met. The security guys don’t want to talk to me. The exception is James and maybe those two men that were with Henry. Maybe they just don't want to talk to a random girl. Even though I'm the boss, they don't know me yet, and I understood that. And so I thought. Maybe I shouldn't be nice to everyone around me either. I should carry the same respect that Anna does.

"Evelyn!" Anna snapped me out of my thoughts, standing by the door, looking at me.

And so I just sighed. "It's okay, it was nice to meet you anyway." I waved at them and continued after Anna. While I reassessed my options for gaining respect.
