The Rules

“You can finish that drink, I’ll go get some more things in the back.” The bartender said and left through the door next to the bar.

I was left alone again with just my thoughts. So no water, but alcohol yes? This body is very strange. I thought. I was in a new body that had been transferred from hell to this new world. As I had already found out, this body had its advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage was probably that I couldn’t drink water. The advantage was that I could wear anything. It was a pretty short list.

I was determined to find out more about my body. I looked at the almost empty gss in front of me. I quickly picked it up, drank the rest of the drink, and put it back down. I just sat there for a while, thinking. If this body had any abilities, as he said. I should find them out as soon as possible. First, I focused on the most common of the abilities. Telekinesis.

I started to focus on the gss in front of me. I gave it my all. I focused my whole mind on the gss to get it off the bar. I don’t know how long I was like that. The same bartender woke me up from the hypnotism of the gss.

“You’re looking at that gss like you want another drink.” He smiled and put another one of the boxes on the floor.

“Umm, can I ask you something?”

  “Sure, ask me anything.”

“How… do you control your, umm… abilities?” I asked a little timidly. After all, different world, different people.

“My abilities? Do you mean my bartending skills? Well, you know, I would say years of practice and stuff.” The bartender answered a little confused.

“No, I didn’t mean those. But… you know what, forget about it.” I waved my hand and thought again. So no magic in this world? Maybe I’m the only one? A thought crossed my mind.

“You have a beautiful smile.” The bartender's words woke me up from my thoughts again.

  "Huh? Me?" I asked confused.

"Do you see anyone else here? What made you so happy?"

"Nothing, just a thought...and thank you." I smiled at him.

"Where are my manners? My name is..."

"James! Here you are." Anna called from behind me. "I've been looking for you everywhere."

"I apologize, ma'am." The bartender just bowed his head.

"I see you've already met our new girl."

  "Yes, ma'am."

"Great, she'll be your new accomplice, James. And now that you've met, come with me, girl." Anna said.

  "Evelyn..."

  "Hmm?"

"My name is Evelyn." I told Anna.

"So you remembered your name?" she asked.

“Well…” I looked at James and he just smiled again. “Yes, I remembered.”

“That’s great. My pleasure Evelyn, I'm Anna. Now, come on, let me introduce you to the other girls.”

And so we headed to the next door, now a little bigger. “It was nice to meet you, James.” I waved at him.

“I’m looking forward to our colboration…Evelyn.”

I didn’t really understand what he meant by colboration. So I just looked at Anna confused. “I’ll expin it to you ter. Now we’re going to see the girls.”

And so we got to the door. Anna opened them and there were more right behind them. This time, a huge muscur guy with short hair stood in front of them. His pose and the fact that he was standing in front of the door, everything screamed security. We took a few steps and stopped in front of him.

“Greg, this is Evelyn. She’s going to work here with us now.” Anna announced and looked at me. “This is Greg, he’s our head of security. If you have any problems with one of the customers, he’s the one you go to and he’ll solve the problem. Do you understand?”

I just nodded. “It’s nice to meet you, Greg.”

“Don’t bother. He doesn’t talk much. He takes his job very seriously. So let’s move on, bye Greg.” She walked around Greg and opened the door behind him.

“Bye Greg.” I waved to him and followed Anna.

Behind the door, something like a salon appeared in front of me. Everything was red and the lights were at a minimum. There were what looked like private booths with leather sofas all along the walls. In the middle, there were things like dining tables with candles on them, which created an almost romantic atmosphere.

As we walked past the tables, Anna suddenly stopped in the middle and turned to me.

“So, before we go any further, we need to talk.” She announced and pushed a chair away from the table and sat down. I did the same and sat down opposite her. We just stared at each other for a while.

“There are rules,” she began in a serious voice. “If you break any of them, you will have to suffer the consequences. So let’s get started. First, even though Henry is the boss, everything that happens on this side is my business and my business alone. Just as I don’t mind his business, he doesn’t mind mine.”

I just nodded my head again.

“Second, I won’t tolerate any arguments. So if you have a problem with any of the girls, you come to me with it. And third, and this is the most important thing. No one gets to live for free. You either pay or you work. Do we understand?”

“I understand, Anna.” I nodded, while Anna gave me a strange look. “Umm, did something happen?”

“No, don’t worry about it. Let’s continue. Since you probably don’t have any money, you’ll have to work. And since you’re new, you’ll start at the bar. You’ve met James, it won’t be a problem there, he’s a nice guy.” She paused for a moment. “Working there won’t make you much money, but it’ll be enough to get by. James will expin the details to you ter. And don’t forget, even though you work under me, you still fall under Henry on his side. He’ll be in charge of you when you work.”

“I understand, Anna.” I said as she gave me that weird look again.

  “Do you have any questions?”

“Umm, I don’t know how to make drinks, I’ve never done that.”

“Haha.” Anna ughed. “No my dear, your job won’t be making drinks. You’ll be drinking them.”

I looked at her in mild shock and confusion. “Drink them?”

“Well, I’ll expin it to you. You, dear, will just sit at the bar and wait.” I looked at her again, puzzled. “Let me put it another way. How much do you think a drink costs at the bar?”

  “I don’t know.” I answered honestly.

“A lot, dear, a lot. What if, there’s a beautiful young woman sitting at the bar with an empty gss?” It was starting to dawn on me. “A man comes up to her and offers to buy her a drink. And, look at that, you’ve earned your first money.” Anna smiled. “With your figure and your beautiful face, it won’t be a problem for you.”

“I understand now. And when do I start?”

“Tonight.” Anna replied. “Don’t look at me like that. That dress won’t pay for itself.”

And so I just looked at my dress and nodded again.

“Well, if you understand everything now, I’ll introduce you to the girls.” Anna stood up and continued to the back.

I sat there, thinking. This was going to be more difficult than I thought.
