For a st week we camped in the forest, near the pce where Mesmer defeated warlord Hugo. We did not know exact day, when the spell that imprisoned will release him, and decided to camp nearby and keep an eye on the spot, where he was supposed to return.

  At the sunrise of seventh day, counting from the first day of our watch, bright light fshed in a spot where I fought Hugo, and goblin warlord appeared from nowhere. He fell on his knees and slowly looked around. He looked surprised.

  As Mesmer expined me, for Hugo the time was frozen. For him fight between Grimsburg protectors and goblin army happened moments ago, while for the rest of us, four years had gone by.

  Nelly and Luara, who were on watch, called us, and we hid behind the trees.

  Hugo took his sword and stood up. He looked at Grimsburg. I did not saw his expression, but could take a bet, that he was evilly grinning. He did not noticed us, and it was the best beginning that we could ask.

  We had several pns, how to fight, and this situation was more favorable for us. I made the first move and casted Primordial magic spell that rendered all his artifacts useless.

  Immediately after that Nelly casted Teleport on Trevor, and he appeared near the goblin. Hugo turned towards Trevor, and quickly dogged to the side, avoiding Trevor's Sun ray spell.

  He pointed his sword at Trevor and took a stance.

  - What is going on here? - asked Hugo: - Where is my army?

  - Your army is defeated, and all your men are dead. Surrender and you will live, or you will not leave this pce alive, - answered Trevor.

  - And who will kill me little knight, - grinned Hugo: - You? Do not make me ugh.

  He talked too much. I would try to escape by now, but Hugo was either brave or foolish. Their conversation gave me time, and I casted second spell, that rendered his magic resistance skills useless. I gave signal to Nelly, and she casted Slow spell. As soon as earth bubbles appeared beneath him, Hug looked down and concentrated. He casted Dispel and again turned to face Trevor, but doing that he got distracted. That gave Nelly precious time to cast her Lightning spell. Hugo noticed it, but it was too te.

  Lightning struck him and he fell on his knees. He used his sword as walking stick and got up. Nelly's spell was powerful enough to kill a powerful monster, but Hugo survived. He was wounded and weakened, but alive.Trevor put his shield in front of him and prepared his Sword of the undertaker. I casted Anti-magic on Luara, and she run out of the trees, towards Hugo. He gnced at her, but did not seemed concerned. Trevor carefully approached him, and they crossed swords. Trevor was forced to retreat, but at least he survived Hugo's attack. Hugo used Magic arrow, but Trevor used his sword to cut it and destroyed the magic energy.

  Hugo cursed and looked at Luara. She was almost upon him. Nelly was using all her support and protection spells on Trevor.

  - Surrender. That is you only chance to survive, - repeated Trevor.

  Hugo jumped back and concentrated. Probably on one of his spells.

  In the meantime, I used on myself Conceal and Teleport spell. I teleported behind Hugo and threw both of my throwing knives. My Poison fang and Poison cw pierced both of his hips and Hugo staggered. He turned around and cursed. He finally realized that it was a trap.

  Luara used Magic arrow, but Hugo brushed it away with his sword. But then Trevor's Sun ray hit him in the chest, and for the first time Hugo screamed in pain.

  He coughed and blood came out of his mouth. He ripped out one of my daggers and stared at it. He probably realized that it was poisoned and threw knife at Trevor. He took out vial with healing potion, but then Nelly's second lightning struck him.

  Vial shattered in pieces, and Hugo fell on his knees. Even his incredible strength and life force, were at their limit. He tried to get up, but Luara's second Magic arrow hit his side, and Hugo fell on the ground. My Freeze spell immobilized his legs, and another lightning made him cough up more blood.

  He was dying, but I did not want to risk. Even wounded animal could be dangerous, and I knew nothing about his abilities and skills. We continued using our spells on him, using Lightning, Magic arrow, Fireball, Sun ray and Ice arrow until Hugo stopped moving and reacting to spells. I signaled for everyone to stop, and took out my bow. I used several adamantium arrows and then carefully approached the warlord. He was covered in wounds, blood and burns. I picked up my sword and cut off his head.My friends approached me and looked at Hugo. Finally the war that started four years ago was over.

  Announcement[Thank you very much for taking the time to read my work. Nice to meet you all in book three of Heroes, magic and Monsters. This book is a little different, when it comes to Avone's character and actions. It could seem that main character is changing, but to me she is acting like herself.

  In the beginning she was trust into unknown, dangerous world, with no idea where she is, and her first encounter were creatures who tried to kill her. She was forced to live in a world that she barely understood, with no "super powers" in a pce where svery, crime and monsters were as common as cars for us. She had to survive and did what she could to get stronger and more powerful.

  Now she has high levels, B rank in adventurers guild and magic, and because of that Avone has "power" as well. She grows more arrogant and acts accordingly, when dealing with others. In her opinion there is no need to be humble and beg for help, when you got money and magic, and can leave to any other country and change your name, if it is necessary. That it how Avone thinks and what is influencing her behaviour and view of the world.

  Hope you are not too disappointed by changes in Avone's character, but that's just how her story progresses by now. Many more challenges awaits her in next books, just like more changes in her character and actions, with many ups and downs in the future.
