It's been a week since the bandits attacked. The doctor's healing magic is incredible. It only really hurt for a day anyway. The queen was just over reacting.
Ann gave me the bandits neckce. I don't know what to do with it. It uses blood magic, so maybe it's connected to Kara. Maybe I should talk to king Yerrie about it. I sit up on my bed. The vilge is mostly back to normal. They really didn't destroy much, just the entrances. I stand up and walk out of our hut. I guess I should go to the king about this. On the way there I see the queen and the princess talking. Maybe I should walk over? I do hope the princess is okay.
The queen notices me, she calls me over. I guess it couldn't hurt to see if they're okay.
"Caleb! Thank you." She says.
"What are you talking about?" I ask.
She embraces me in a long hug. What's this about?
"Thank you. I'm in your debt..." She whispers under her breath, "I almost lost my daughter!"
I can hear her sniffling. A wet spot appears on my shoulder.
"I was just... repaying the favor." I tell her.
I didn't really do much. She would have been saved even if I never caught the bandit. She pulls back and wipes her face.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you like that." She chuckles, "I'm guessing you're probably just here to say goodbye."
"Sort of... I need to speak to your husband." I tell her.
"He's inside! You can just walk right in." She says.
I walk over to the door.
"Thanks, by the way. Just contact us if you need any more help." I shout out.
She waves bye and I walk into the king's room. He's sitting on his throne, with a table in front of him. He's writing something down, when he looks up at me.
"Uh, king Yerrie?" I ask.
"It's nice to see you Cal. Do you need any help before you depart?" He asks.
I pull out the neckce and set it on the table. He looks at it for a second before picking it up.
"Is this the bandit's?" He asks,
"Yeah, I need your help with it, I don't really know how it works." I tell him.
He looks back at me.
"It's not very respectful to use your enemies tools." He sighs, "But I can help!"
He walks over to his bookshelf. He pulls out a small book. There's some words in a nguage I can't understand and a picture of some weapons. I think I've seen this book before! Who was it that had this? Vincent? Maybe I saw it in the library...
"Here it is!" He shouts.
I step behind the table. He moves the book so I can see it. There's two pages. One with a picture of three neckces, and one with four long paragraphs.
"Yours should be... here!" He points at the third paragraph.
"Talisman of Flesh:This talisman grants the wearer an inhuman healing ability. The blood magic infused to this item by the blood goddess, gives it the ability to heal any injury in seconds! Based on my research, the only way to kill the wielder is to cut their head off. This one is by far the scariest of the set, unless the wielder has zero knowledge in combat, killing them may be impossible."
"Good thing we got the weak one!" The king ughs, "But... Why would a random bandit hold such a powerful item?"
That is strange. Maybe Kara does have ties to those bandits. But I saw her kill the blood goddess! How could she get this if she had killed the maker? And even still, why give it to some random bandit? Does she have the other three? This just raises more question than answers.
The kings sits back down on his throne.
"What are you going to do with it?" He asks.
"Use it, I guess." I tell him.
It seems kind of unfair to just use such a powerful item like this.
"I don't think you need it." He says.
"What?" I say.
"You're already powerful enough! Stronger than me even!" He says, "Well, this form."
He closes the book and sets it beside him. I wonder what they're going to do after this. Nearly half of their popution is dead.
"Are you going to stay here?" I ask him.
"No... It's far too dangerous." He tells me.
"You guys could stay with the revolution." I joke.
He stares at me. His cw scratches his chin as a smile forms.
"I'll think about it." He says.
He didn't think I was serious right? He stands up and walks out of the room. I should probably get packed up. I leave the king's house. The sun is piercing through the trees. The ground would look pretty nice, if there wasn't blood all over. The beautifully built homes are just scrap now, and the little pathways are even worse than before. I hate these bandits! All they've done was ruin people's lives for a quick buck!
I walk past the tavern. Marty is sitting alone. Most of his friends from the other night must have been warriors, they probably all died. I keep going until I reach our hut. Pyra is packing up her and Marty's things.
"Why isn't Marty cleaning his own messes." I ugh.
She scoffs at this.
"Could you help? We're leaving in an hour!" She says.
"Alright! What do you need me to do?" I ask.
She gives me a stack of clothes, all Marty's.
"Take these down to our carriage." She tells me.
I leave our hut. There's a stair case to the ground just by us. It's a quick walk. I walk over to the stables. Inside is our driver, he's with somebody. I can't see them because of a wall. I lean over slightly and see a fairy woman. They're making out and the driver is touching on her chest. I really didn't need to see that! I carry the clothes and pce them under a seat in our carriage.
Back in the hut Pyra and I continue to pack our belongings.
"When do you pn on teaching me some of your magic?" I ask her.
"Soon, we could probably get some lessons in during our next stop." She chuckles.
Marty walks into out hut. He slumps onto his bed. Pyra was putting things in her bag, right where he fell.
"Are you kidding me!" She says.
"Do you have a spell to make someone sober." I joke.
"Yeah, there actually is!" She says.
What? That has to be a joke right. You can just remove the effects of alcohol? I walk over to Marty and tap his head a few times.
"Marty... You're never like this at camp!" I say.
"Because I don't have to think about it there." He mutters.
"Think about what?" I ask.
He quickly stands up.
"Nothing! I don't need to forget about anything." He shouts.
He sobered up pretty quick! I might tease him with this in the future. He may not like it... But I'll find it funny!
We finish packing our things. We carry them down to out carriage, the driver isn't making out with that woman anymore. But I also don't know where he went/
"Where's our driver? We leave in ten minutes!" Pyra says.
Does she not like it here? She might just be in a hurry since we're about a week te to out next stop. I walk around the stables. There's a small bathroom there. A quiet sound comes from inside. It's sounds like somebody screaming. I lean close to the door. It sounds more like... moaning?
The driver arrived three minutes before we left. His hair was dirtied and his clothes were only partially unbuttoned. The whole vilge gathered around us to see us off. The kings steps forward in front of everybody.
"I have an announcement!" King Yerrie shouts.
Everybody backs up and stands a little straighter. He clears his throat.
"As you know, we are leaving our vilge soon. One of our friends here gave me an offer earlier this morning." He tells everybody.
He really did take it serious! Shit, I wasn't really expecting this. He looks over at me. Pyra and Marty also look at me.
"What did you do?" Marty asks.
"I was joking!" I tell them
"We will be moving with Marty's group! Afterwards, we shall be staying with the revolution." He announces.
