Chapter 57- Hostice

The end of the tunnel is a rge pilr, a very rge pilr. Stairs wrap around the pilr, with only a thin railing to keep you from falling down. It's quite overbearing, it might take hours to get up there, still not as long as the tower of mirrors. Now would be a great time to be able to fly, too bad Teir can't anymore. I have wondered if King Yerrie could carry us while flying, maybe he carries the queen since she can't fly either.

Hilt's ankle is swelling quite a bit, more than before. She's not hurting, or at least she's acting like she isn't, but it'll surely be a problem soon. I just hope it won't be too dark when we arrive. With how tall this pilr is, it'll definitely be cold, colder than anywhere else here. There's a lot more torches than the other area, it's actually quite well lit.

Hilt limps as we climb up the stairs, maybe the pain's actually getting to her. Roy trudges behind us, writing in his journal. Wish I had a notebook of sorts, I only have my thoughts. I'd still magic over writing any day. the sound of ten foot steps echo throughout the rge room, it's easy to count, and easy to tell which sound is which person.

"So... Elf, how's sharing a bed sound?" Midgure ughs.

  "Hell, literal hell." Hilt replies.

"You don't have to be so rude about it." I chuckle.

"That wasn't rude." Hilt says, "I was just speaking my mind."

I wonder if Hilt was like this before. She seemed pretty... Normal back at her old vilge, and that letter wasn't written anything like her personality. She only really started acting like this after Cole showed up. Maybe his more human form sparked something in her? Or she's always been like this and she decided to just show us her personality. Although, I would've thought the newer Hilt would have told Midgure to kill himself or something. She's no stranger to telling people that.

As Hilt takes a step, her foot slides and she goes crashing towards the ground. She flings her arms out in front of her and catches herself, her face just inches away from the edge of a stair.

"Are you okay!?" I shout, rushing a few steps up.

I kneel down, one leg resting a step above her head and the other stepping two steps down. I touch the side of her head with one hand and reach for bandages in my bag.

"I'm fine." Hilt tells me, "I just trip, nothing serious."

Hilt puts one hand up on my knee and uses it to push herself up onto her feet. She takes a step, stumbling and almost tripping again. Her ankle still swells rger every time I see it.

"Come on, I can carry you for a bit if you want." I tell her.

"I don't need it." She shrugs, "A sprained ankle isn't the end of the world."

I guess it's not, but that doesn't mean I can't help her. She's so damn stubborn, maybe she'll be the next Pride. No, she'd probably be a better Wrath. I don't know much about the sins, except for the concept comes from Earth, apparently a hero introduced it to people. Now it's part of some major religion, but it's still quite new. I'd research it more but the magic god is the only god that I need in my life! My father and I would always pray to him together, being able to do that with the others was quite fun.

It's actually pretty crazy that it's already been a month since that. As the days go on, I've actually started to miss everybody. I only just met Teir and Hilt, having Marty or Caleb around would be... nice.

"How much longer do you think we have?" Midgure asks Roy.

"I'll guess... Half an hour!" Roy says, with a certain confidence in his voice.

"No way! I'm going two hours." Midgure says.

"You're both wrong!" Teir says, "It's only ten minutes! I'd bet my life on it!"

"Let's not bet our life on things, please." I ugh.

It's nearly impossible to actually know how much longer it may take due to the way the stairs were built. The roof is completely blocked by the stairs above us, I wouldn't know if it was going to be a whole day or five minutes. We'll see who's right, I'm actually rooting for Teir, ten minutes sounds wonderful!

Ten minutes ter, not there yet. Half an hour, not there yet. Maybe it's just an hour? If Midgure fucking jinxed us! Another thirty minutes ter, guess what, nothing, again. One more hour ter, the stairs seem to end above us. There's a small ptform just a few steps up. We reach the top of the pilr, staring into a short tunnel. Beyond said tunnel is a bright light, the light is nearly a full white. There's just a slight shininess to it that keeps it from being blinding.

We each step towards the light, slowly, one by one. I go st again, not due to fear this time, but I just didn't realize what was happening quick enough. I was thinking, and by the time I snapped out of it, everyone was already walking away. I follow closely behind them, the tunnel is quite short. The outside is a snowy blizzard. everything more than a foot away is completely white. The second I get out of the tunnel, Teir grabs onto my shirt and pulls herself close.

The storm produces a strong wind, it's almost strong enough to blow someone away. I wrap my arm around Teir's upper body and tread forward. Every step pierces through the snow, which around eight inches above ground. It's freezing, very freezing.

"Pyra!" I hear a faint voice shout.

  "Over here!" I yell back.

There's no response, so I move forward. The storm gets weaker the farther I go, maybe it'll end soon! I just need to push forward, the others can handle themselves, I just need to get Teir out of this. My foot catches a hard piece of packed snow, causing me to trip. I quickly push myself back up to my feet and grab Teir by the colr, yanking her up. It's not long before the storm calms and the white fades. As the storm fades, a rge, beautiful city ys in front of us. The infrastructure is nothing like I've ever seen. Everything from the houses, to small taverns, it feels like a mix of both fairy and human.

Roy steps up behind me, ying a hand on my shoulder.

"Welcome to Hostice!" He excims, flinging his hand out towards the city.
