“Uggrrh!!!” The demon irks once the flaming arrow pierces into the hand that possesses my spear as it combusts and rips away the arm.
The jade-colored spear flies like a single leaf gliding in the air toward our direction.
“What are you waiting for you idiot, grab it!” Seraphina yells while continuously firing combustible shots.
Without even thinking I somehow lifted myself with
I have to remind myself that I was not a fighter, to begin with. And yet here I am, willfully inert a speck of whatever power I have for survival.
I don’t know why I stayed, or even why I have this desire to fight this abomination that calls itself a god. The only thing that I know is that it would be wrong to abandon a person.
While in the air and finally grabbing my spear I make another boost, but towards the direction of the Glitched-fiend and ready myself to fight.
As I got closer, I lunged at the spear like a caveman jumping while hunting for prey.
“Is that the best you can do?” The Glitched-fiend chuckles after dodging my strike.
But that wasn’t the only thing it had to worry about, as instead of individual attacks, we had come to an agreement.
Seraphina jumps right above me and fires more shots, surprising the demon, but still yet to make any real damage.
“Don’t forget about me, demon!”
Even though she had taken surprise at her aggressive maneuver, the Glitched-fiend still kept that smile. “Well ain’t this a fantastic moment. Didn’t realize you guys could actually work together…” But with that comment, the hand that was again blown off had already healed. “...Yet, you forget who you are dealing with.”
“And what would that be, a god?” She scornfully replies.
“No, I am more than a god.”
It dashes it with great speed and was about to strike Seraphina, but I moved her aside and intended to take the full gale it gave.
A clicking clink of the glitch-like arm blades hits the pole handle of my spear, Although it may stop the attack, the impact still pushes as it keeps rushing.
There is a lot of force this thing is putting as I am constantly moving backward. “Shit!” was all I could say!
“I wonder how much you can handle? Seems like you’re inexperienced and simple-minded.” The fiend tries to intimidate my spirit.
“How about you shut up!” I conjure another
“What?!”
“Alright, time to have you taste your own medicine!”
It is now our turn to push you down.
“Huh, you gotta be kidding me.” The Glitched-fiend looked at itself for a way to strike at me.
But I ain’t letting it try as I keep putting pressure on it and keeping the two arms busy blocking this assault. This might be the strongest
Not being experienced with fighting or having any training is more regrettable as I feel more tired the more I continue. I almost forgot that my back is still bleeding…
“Now would be a good time!” I keep going with the
“Just hold him still!” Seraphina who was behind the Glitched-fiend readies her
“It’s not supposed to be like this!” After being blasted in three separate positions, the fiend now seems to have a troubled expression.
“I’m not done yet!” She roars with a
and the Glitched-fiend takes the full impact of both her devastating fire and my gale force.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Its shrieking was inhuman and distorted like an old video game console that has errors and breaking down. Now it feels the pain that the two of can them do.
So much pressure from the front and back made the monster lose some tension in its arm blades. With that strength loosening, it was the best moment to change from my blocking position into my striking position.
The bladed part of my spear slices the arm blades away and ready it to stab through the heart of the monster if it has one.
Once I did it, the shrieking never stopped but constantly grew louder and louder to a point that possibly someone can hear it, and I want them to hear it.
Even if we don’t kill it, we know damn well this Glitched-fiend can heal itself in absolute perfection, it was so bullshit. It is like a random encounter boss that has unfair stats against two players with beginner gear.
The only thing I know is that if I can hold out a little longer, maybe someone who heard the screeching can call a professional to help us. Or if we’re lucky then this assault might kill the damn thing.
“No! I’m not going down like this!” A wave of force blasts both of us away from the user.
Once grown, the Glitched-fiend focuses all of its animosity right toward me with utter devastation as I am grabbed by the neck. Which flings me in multiple directions like before, but more intense than what Seraphina experienced. Must have gained the attention of a weak fool like myself.
“You think you're gonna win just by working together? No way in hell that’s gonna be an option for such weaklings! You’re nothing! Just a mere chum for change and nobody you exist! After I pummel you enough I’m going to devour all of that energy from your useless life!”
A wide swing makes me fly up in the air while choking to death. But that led to an opportunity while in the sky. I look below me and see the monster that was still blabbering about my demise, which was perfect enough of a distraction. I somehow still held my emerald spear and grip it as much as I could muster.
I said just one thing: “
Never thought that I would be in the air and skydive for the first time on the first day of school. But if I were to die right now, I might as well go with a bang.
The gale of the current blew the celestial glitched hand like a drill spinning as the wind twists and turns.
The violent twister reached the stem of the being and I managed to pummel it to the ground.
“You’ve got to be kidding!” the beast screaming as it drills the ever-living shit of this monster!
“I’m not going to back down!” I roar as much force as I can as I push down the pedal and let it rip.
“No no no!!!” The cries only ended as the Glitched-fiend blew up into a massive blast of energy where I was caught up in the utter radius.
“Ugh, did we kill it?” I painfully asked while resting on the hard cemented floor. The spear I was holding in my right hand turned back into a Mana Tablet as I looked at it.
Once I sat up and saw Seraphina looking around in awe of what just transpired.
“I… I think we won.” She starts to walk in my direction and all I could think of is what happens next.
After everything that just happened in a single day, I won't be surprised by the next terrifying thing that could happen right now.
I want to reiterate to myself that I was just like anyone else, a person born with specific abilities, like any other person.
And what we’ve faced is something that is far more abnormal than the spy, since the whole terrorist attack and her espionage at least follow a specific pattern or connection.
Speaking of the spy, she is still unconscious around the trashcans.
But this demon that we’ve just faced… I don’t have a clue what was going on. I like to think that Seraphina is also thinking the same thing as I am, exhausted and confused.
“Well, it seems like you’re not as weak as I expected…” she puts her hand towards me once again.
It feels strange that the person who saved me and hated me is actually not as bad as the rumors say. Maybe it is just my only experience that is considered but without her, I might have been food for that monstrosity.
Though, I still have to be her servant for a week which was not the best after winning this unfair battle. But it could’ve been worse.
So I just reach to her hand with the intent of lessening the damage of her mood.
Other than Ludio or Nemo, who are good buddies except for Ludio’s antics, it would be nice if we both can start over on friendly terms after this battle, that is what I hope.
But for now, going to the school infirmary, because we’re still close to it, to rest easy and patched up.
As soon as I grasp the hand, a feeling of wind tells me that something is going on, a very bad breeze.
“Alder, what’s wro-” She stopped with an abrupt yelp and was floating. Behind her, was the Glitched-fiend, as if the damn humanoid didn’t explode and is now impaling her with those sharp claws that keep shifting between translucent and opaque in its messed up static fashion.
“Well, it seemed fun while it lasted, pretending to be dead and all.”
What in the hell just happened? Didn’t he just die just a few seconds ago? This isn’t making any sense… Why… Why…. Why why why why why why why WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY!!!
WHY IS THIS MONSTER STILL ALIVE?!
But no matter what I questioned in my mind… my eyes are guided by a swift thrust of the other hand into my lower torso. I wanted to resist but couldn't and all of myself screamed.
I could feel something being sucked out and looked at the color of the hand turning green.
It didn't help for the fact that I was still bleeding from behind and everything was all fuzzy. I could only struggle to ask while losing consciousness.
“W-what are y-you…”
The smile of a demon answered.
“As I said before: I am more than a god. You think that stabbing me in the heart would kill me, please. You assume that I exist in the reality of what you perceive, what you can defeat. Your meager Mana adept abilities are nothing to me. You just create a dash of wind and this obnoxious girl casts bits of fire bolts, and you still think that can hurt me? Compared to me, I only used at least about two or three different things that are so minuscule compared to what I am truly capable of… You are nothing, you’re, in the most pathetic remark, just a source of nutrients. Everything that life has guided you til’ now is what you’re destined to be. Another source of energy to feed on. You should be glad that it’s almost over for your useless existence.”
I couldn’t feel half of my body and my eyes were shutting without my control. I looked at the smiley demon with utter despair…
