Day 226:
Zero came to my room again today, she still hasn’t found out where the room is but she questioned me about my ability.
Unlike when I was with the facilitators, I told her everything I had learned about my ability.
She excitedly grabbed my shoulder and told me that my EMP could knock out the cameras, making our escape far easier.
How did I not think of that?
I assume it was because I was too focused on the other aspect of my gift.
I asked her if she needed any help looking for the room but she shook her head and told me to stay put until it’s time.
It’s normal for her to run around the entire facility, so she would be looked at with less suspicion.
She also told me that she wouldn’t be meeting with me until the day of to avoid any prying eyes.
She quickly hugged me before sprinting off in another attempted search.
Even if I can’t run around like her, I have my own ways of preparing for the escape day.
Day 227:
Through consistent use of my gift I’ve found out a few things.
First, I can’t keep Scan up for long. It’s not like I have a limit on how many times I can use it, but I can only use it for a couple seconds at a time or else my head begins to feel like it’s exploding.
At most, I can keep it for 7 seconds in one instance. However, the safe limit i’ve set for myself is 4 seconds. Once I stop using it, I have around a 3 second cooldown time before I can use it again without repercussions. It’s good that there is a slight uptime.
Second, remember how I mentioned that there were multi-colored particles? Well apparently, these particles have different meanings. When no.5 was swirling his blood around it was a mixture of green and blue particles. When no.4 was bracing himself to run, there was a mixture of green and red particles. No.3 and no.7 had orange and red particles surrounding them and the areas of their gifts.
For example, the small knife that no.3 was floating around, and the two tendrils of hair that were playing with each other on top of no.7’s head.
I have no idea what these particles mean though.
Finally, my EMP disperses particles. I used it in secret on a camera in the training hall and learned this. Anything electric has a swarm of blue particles constantly moving back and forth close together, and when I used EMP it dispersed it.
The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
It may not have a use for now besides for the cameras but it’s always good to understand more about one’s ability.
Regardless, if I can figure out what each particle means I’m sure it will be useful.
Day 228:
No.1’s gift is so curious.
It’s honestly stumped me.
I tried to use scan on him multiple times today, but wherever he went the particles moved around him.
Any action he took did not influence or change the particles, like he didn’t exist in the same plane as them.
Even normal facilitators without gifts usually have some form of particles surrounding them, but no.1 doesn’t.
Why?
I can’t figure it out.
He noticed me watching him as well, he had a taunting look on his face the entire day. Like he knew that I couldn’t figure him out.
Once I finished training, I went to the cafeteria to get food and saw Zero there eating. Respecting her wishes, I didn’t come near her and sat on the opposite end of the cafeteria.
When she finished eating she watched directly behind me and I felt something poke my side as she walked off.
It was a little paper slip that said, “Check under your bed.”
When I returned my room, I did as she requested and saw a knife, a bow with a sling of arrows, gloves with rather hard material, and an ordinary katana. Along with those was two of the combat suit that was provided to the numbers against Zagra.
It seems she had taken measures to acquire weapons in a way that wouldn’t garner suspicion toward me.
Day 229:
No.1 invited me to his room today. This was the strangest thing that has happened to me in this facility thus far.
I originally intended to decline, but I couldn’t help but be curious on what his room looked like. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t what I saw.
A room even blander than mine, blander than bland. He was a minimalist. He only had a mattress on the ground, and a TV. He had nothing else in the room, not even blankets. Connected to the TV was a game system(he had to explain that to me) and he invited me to play with him. We played an old-school fighting game, and I was honestly amazed at what I was playing. The characters moved whenever I made an input, and they had such vibrant expressions! I honestly thought I could learn a thing or two about fighting from playing as these characters.
However, No.1 caught my amusement and proceeded to make fun of me for it. I told him to shut up and play a round with me, but he was unsurprisingly very good at the game. He used a girl with very strong legs that specialized in kicking, while I used someone who looked like a ninja, specializing in speed. I was trounced again and again and again. He kept spamming this same move that infuriated me to no end, and I was unable to win against him.
He asked if I wanted to play more, but I stopped at 26 losses before I started attacking him in real life. As I left the room in a huff, he asked me another strange question.
“What does freedom mean to you?”
I gave serious thought to his question, and came up with an answer that would encapsulate my beliefs.
“To be able to live my life the way I want, with my free will uninhibited.”
He again smiled, and told me my free will is already uninhibited.
I disagreed with him and left. Any place that keeps me confined against my will and tortures me in ways where I am unable to choose what I do, where I am forced, is a violation of my free will.
