Day 177:
Today was the first time I saw some of their powers in action. I was told by the head researcher to sit out this training session considering I had none, which was perfect.
They were doing the same activities as before, except they were using their powers to complete them this time.
I saw the emo-boy I now knew as No.5 prick himself with a needle. Blood began to spill out from his finger and drop onto the floor at an alarming rate.
He then got into sit-up position, and the blood moved to cover his legs and solidified, as he began his 100 sit-ups.
It seems his power was blood manipulation. Now whether that pertains only to his blood or others is the real question.
The other delinquent that looked like No.5’s sister stood at the starting line of the track . As she started running, she suddenly disappeared. After a few seconds, she reappeared facing the opposite direction.
It was either teleportation or invisibility.
Both would be rather troublesome to deal with to be honest.
The narcissist with blonde hair ran back and forth at lightning speeds, but was unable to keep it up for long. It seemed to be a speed burst kind of ability.
The brown-haired girl I had identified as No.7 from the cafeteria incident was holding her temple and lifting up five-pound weights…..without touching them. I knew her ability was telekinesis, but seeing it in action fascinated me. She glared at me when she saw me watching though.
The rest of them were in other rooms having private sessions apparently, except for the swamp-haired bastard, and the dull black-haired girl that stopped by my room to give me food that one time.
Those two were just standing around, doing nothing.
Maybe their powers weren’t applicable here?
He glanced over at me and smirked, like he knew what I was thinking at the time.
I’ve already thought of weaknesses to every power i’ve seen, he would be forced to show his eventually.
Good things come to those who wait after all.
Day 180:
I was asked to sit out yet again today, but I didn’t get to observe the other numbers. I was taken from the training hall to a small room with curtains that resembled a doctor’s office.
There was a chair in front of me, and a curtain farther down in the office that seemed to house another patient.
I was situated on a chair, and some needles were injected into both of my arms. The head researcher’s female assistant informed me that they were going to run different types of slight stimuli through my body, and see how my body would react.
She didn’t inform me on what type of stimuli would be put through my body, but reassured that this wasn’t like other tests, and it would be relatively painless.
She asked if I was ready and I confirmed with a simple “yes”, which prompted her to press some buttons on a panel to our left.
As she was fiddling with the panel, the curtain on my right suddenly got pulled back, as I saw Zero with a mischievous smile looking in my direction.
Without a sound, she walked in circles around my bed keeping that same smile.
Before jumping on top, much to the dismay of the assistant.
She got close, and whispered that now that she’s learned I can speak, she’s going to be visiting my room soon.
She then skipped out of the room, leaving as quickly as she appeared.
Though I have to wonder….
What was she doing in that office in the first place?
Day 182:
As previously promised, she came to visit my room.
She informed me that from now on, she would walk with me to the training center.
I already knew where it was, so I walked off without her.
She followed close behind, incessantly talking the entire way through. I tuned her out immediately, but that didn’t stop her from walking in front of me with an attempt to get my attention with grandiose hand gestures and body language.
I was not excluded from training today, and did my exercises in earnest. After I arrived to the training hall, she automatically walked toward the office I was put in yesterday.
She waved at me as she left, sticking her tongue out on the way in.
Truly, what a nuisance.
Day 183:
I wouldn’t usually write for something like this but she came by again today.
She came before I left to go to the training hall, and she emerged from the office as I was leaving to walk me back, chattering all along the way.
When we got back to my room she gave me a “peace offering” in the shape of a cookie.
It was wrapped in plastic, and looked like something a doctor would give a kid after a successful check-up.
She said I was receiving the “highest honor I could get here” before throwing the cookie at my face and running off with a smile.
So annoying.
I was feeling quite hungry though, so I unwrapped the cookie and took a bite out of it.
It tasted heavenly.
I was pleasantly surprised by the taste, and finished it quickly.
I even let out a sound I had never let out before, in which I sincerely hoped no one was around to hear.
I wonder if there was a way to get her to keep bringing me these without talking to her?
Day 184:
So far, I have noted the powers and designations of each single-digit I can confirm.
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
No.8, the red-haired boy who has a limited control of fire.
No.7, the brown-haired girl who uses telekinesis.
No.5, the brat who can control blood.
And finally, No.2, whose powers are unknown but I am aware of his designation.
I’m not counting Zero in this, and I’m not even aware if she has an ability in the first place.
I’m still unaware of what ranking the narcissist is, or what designation the girl who could turn invisible(teleport?) is.
That’s not even all of them, if it weren’t for my own survival I wouldn’t have paid any interest to half of these fools. Honestly, there are too many people to keep track of in this god-forsaken hellhole.
Day 186:
I did some reflecting on my experiences here today.
Morals….what is wrong or right here, I find myself questioning that lately.
I have killed, lied, stolen, and incited violence in my time here, all for my own benefit.
I do not regret any of my actions thus far, and none of them were without purpose, and yet….I cannot stop thinking about it.
When I fell unconscious, and I saw that monster that resembled me smiling, I could not help but worry.
If I stay on this path, will I become like this?
As of now, I have no other choice in the matter if I wish to escape but I leave this here as a reminder to myself.
Despite everything, I am still human. And while that may not be the most ideal, it is certainly better…..
Then being a monster.
Day 187:
In the training hall today, I faced an unexpected conversation with a single-digit.
Specifically, it was the black haired girl who was shivering in the corner.
She asked me if I was comfortable being around us, in which I merely nodded my head a simple “yes”.
She told me it was ok that I hadn’t awoken to a power yet, and commented that she couldn’t even control her power. She further commented that’s why she was the lowest single-digit, designated as No.9.
I asked her what her power was but she looked away quickly and spoke no further. I couldn’t tell if she was smart, or just nervous.
No.5 and his presumed sister then came up to the no.9 and started poking fun at her.
They chastised her for being so anti-social, commenting that she had to resort to making friends with someone like her.
I’m assuming they meant me.
The emo girl grabbed no.9’s hair and began laughing at her.
No.9 looked to me as if asking for help, but I had no reason to help her.
I planned to just see how she would react to this situation, hoping I might get a glimpse of her power, until no.5 blocked my view asking what I was staring at.
I briefly looked at him before turning around and walking off.
I had no intention of starting a fight.
I had no intention to.
However, I heard what sounded like glass forming behind me, and my innate danger sense kicked in. At the time, I quickly jumped to the left.
My cheek was cut by what seemed to be a blood shard.
After attacking me like that, he grinned. I didn’t forget the smug look on his face for the rest of the day.
I don’t know what has been happening lately, but i’ve been feeling a larger range of emotions. If something like this had happened before, I would have just continued walking, or done something smarter and alert a facilitator.
I was overwhelmed….with irritation. Which caused me to act rashly.
I turned around and sprinted toward no.5.
He seemed to be very surprised and made some quick movements with his hands.
I still don’t know what he was trying to do, but it failed because my fist reached him before whatever he wanted to happen activated.
I was impressed, because even after I punched him he launched a counterattack with his blood shards.
Surprisingly, they weren’t moving that fast. I dodged them with ease, and even caught one of them midflight.
I was about to throw the shard at his face, before we were forced to stop by the head researcher who just came back in the room.
Needless to say, we were forced to apologize to each other and I was sent back to my room.
Oh, on another note….Zero came back again today.
She didn’t bring any cookies.
Day 190:
I was forced to skip again today, and was taken back to the doctor’s office.
The assistant took me back in and went through the same process as before. I looked to the right and saw Zero sleeping on her bed lazily.
About 30 minutes passed before she groggily woke up and situated herself upright on her bed.
She glanced over at my direction and immediately beamed before jumping off of her bed and onto mine.
The assistant was at a loss for words, but did nothing to stop her invasion of my personal space.
She laughed maniacally before saying I couldn’t escape, and that she would force me to talk today.
Words cannot express how much restraint I showed from kicking her in the stomach as she started grabbing my face in an attempt to change my expression.
Her onslaught was soon forcibly stopped by a man who walked in a couple seconds later.
Upon closer inspection, it was the same man that was present during the tournament. I remember him sitting on top, with Zero sitting on his lap.
He had an air of authority about him, before his expression softened a bit upon seeing Zero. He asked her what she was doing, and she quickly frowned and looked back at him.
She seemed extremely irritated that he was there, and I wondered what their relationship was.
My internal question was quickly answered when she called him “Dad” in a menacing tone.
Upon hearing that, he looked a bit downtrodden until he glanced over at me.
He glared at me heavily and asked what I was doing to his daughter.
What?
Upon walking in and seeing what was happening, why was I the one to blame here?
It seems he was incapable of using logic in this situation, further shown as he took an angry step toward me. However, Zero soon positioned herself in front of me, sitting on my stomach in the process.
She stated that she was trying to get me to talk, and that no matter what she did I continued to ignore her.
A truthful statement on her part.
The father glared at me and demanded that I respond to her.
I was about to, until I saw the triumphant grin on her face.
This may seem rather immature of me but….
I felt like if I spoke to her, I would’ve lost in that situation.
Losing to her irritated me more than the thought of what that man would do to me if I didn’t comply.
So instead, I stuck my tongue out at her, imitating what she had been doing to me for the past two weeks.
She was silent for a couple seconds out of shock, before she started violently screaming and attempted to choke me.
This cartoonish scuffle continued on until the father ripped her off of me, and ordered the assistant to send me back.
Seeing her face turn as red as a tomato out of rage upon my departure gave me a pleasant feeling in my chest.
Is this the effect of teasing?
Also, she was heavier than I expected. I swear, when she sat on my stomach I felt all of the air leave my gut.
Day 191:
At lunch today, I saw fit to improve my relationship with a certain single-digit. Specifically, No.7, who I had antagonized in the past during the cafeteria incident. Her telekinetic powers may be helpful in my escape, so I wanted to speak with her in an attempt to learn more about her.
I sat next to her and attempted to speak but was met with an icy glare.
I tried to apologize, but she just scoffed at me, commenting that she wanted nothing to do with me. I explained I was trying to make amends, but she wouldn’t hear it, saying I traumatized her.
She also told me not to call her No.7, but to now call her No.3. She smirked and told me that she ought to thank me. Due to that incident, she was able to awaken her powers further, and gained some favor from the head researcher.
I realized that must have been what he meant when he had said that incident was for the better in the end. Regardless, with that she curtly left, expressing her disdain for me once more.
I could understand her anger due to my actions, and she was completely justified in her beliefs…..but it was still unfortunate.
Who knew making friends would be so hard?
