41. Danger!

Ken woke up when they were nearing Lyricos.

They arrived on Lyricos at 5:15 pm.

“Let’s just go home, you all must be tired too,” Ken muttered.

“Yeah, we will discuss later,” Andrew accepted Ken’s idea.

Then everyone left for their house.

“They are going to target you, Ken,” Andrew said as they walked home.

“Yes, I just said that in the spur of the moment,” Ken told Andrew.

They had a small conversation before eventually walking in a different direction.

“Ahh, Exams are coming up, I didn’t—” Ken thought when walking home.

  Ken’s route to home,

When Ken is walking from the park, he walks straight for a few minutes, then turns left and walks for some distance, then turns left again after a certain distance, and goes straight towards his home.

Usually, when he was walking straight from the park, he would notice a man with red hair walking towards his house, tired from work, as he was wearing a suit, and similarly, when he was going to Roger’s house in the morning, he would see the same man running around the park.

When returning home, Ken saw him watering his garden, and eventually left.

He went home, spoke to his parents, had dinner and then went to sleep early.

  The next day,

Ken woke up early and left home for training with Roger.

On his way, he saw that red-haired guy jogging around the park. He reached Roger’s house on time.

Roger was helping out Andrew and teaching the techniques that he had taught to Ken. On the other hand, Ken was doing his own training as he tried different ways to combine his Ignis and mind-reading.

He visualised a scenario and acted upon it, using the right amount of Core Ignis. Andrew was learning quicker, surprising Roger.

“I can do a lot better. I need to learn more,” Andrew was more determined than ever.

Time passed, and their time to leave had come as both Ken and Andrew left.

“Should we tell the incidents that happened yesterday to?” Ken asked Andrew.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

“I don’t know, but I feel not to,” he replied.

“Then fine, I just thought about it,” Ken said.

  They then returned home.

Ken then prepared for college when he returned home and left for the bus stop.

“Why am I getting tired often? I haven’t done that much in the past few days,” Ken recalled the events that he had been part of for the past few days.

“Am I using more Ignis?” he wondered.

He reached the bus stop on time and eventually boarded the bus.

The day in college went normally, even though they are approaching the exams.

The evening went as per routine as Ken continued his training at Roger’s house, and after 2 hours, he returned home.

  The next day, November 21,

Ken woke up as per the schedule and left home early.

When he was walking through the park, he didn’t see the man jogging.

“Maybe he had some other works,” Ken thought and continued walking.

Ken went to Roger’s house and continued his training where he had left off. Andrew continued to learn new techniques with Roger’s help.

Both Ken and Andrew left Roger’s house at 6:50 am.

They had a small conversation before leaving for their houses.

While walking through the park, he saw that red-haired man walking parallel to him. After a few seconds, something unexpected happens.

Ken can use his powers on him as he thought about Ken for 5 minutes. Ken was shocked when he realised it.

“Why is he thinking about me?” Ken couldn’t understand.

Whenever he gets an opportunity to use his powers on strangers, he never declines it. Now, the only confusion for him is which time of the day is right for him to read.

“Let’s do it randomly,” Ken thought.

“7…7:17 am,” he decided on the time he wants to read.

  He began using his powers.

“Is being born in Theron village a crime?” Red-haired guy’s mind at 7:17 am.

“Someone, please, save me. I beg someone, please save me.”

“No way, I am getting saved, this is an open ground, no one comes here at this time, I am done for,” he thought.

“It hurts a lot, I can’t even breathe,” were the last words Ken could hear when he used his powers.

“What has just happened? Is this what is going to happen to him?” Ken was confused.

“He must be set as a target; it also looks like he is from Theron village from the way he thought,” he analyses.

“I should save him, but how many people are going to attack him? Where did he get attacked?” Ken was looking for answers.

“Open ground, the one that I am most familiar with is that place,” Ken thought of a place.

He saw the time, it was already 7:03 am.

“Fifteen minutes left, I must follow him soon,” he came up with a plan.

Ken began walking towards the place he thought.

“It would take 10 minutes if I walked, maybe less than 3 minutes if I ran, but how could I run in public?” he calculated

“Oh, I should also inform Andrew that I might be late for college,” he took out his phone and called him.

“Ahh, I can’t even tell him that I used my powers. What should I tell him?” he hung up the call.

“I can tell him later, now should I run? Or walk as fast as I could,” he couldn’t decide.

He chose the ultimate weapon, his coin, to decide.

“Heads means running, otherwise it’s walking at full speed,” he thought.

“I am hoping for heads, but—” he flipped it.

  HEADS!

He wasted no time in thinking and began running.

“They might think I'm weird, but I have no options,” he said, giving his full energy in running.

It was 7:10 when he reached near the place.

“It must be the place where they conflict,” he decided to hide behind a car that was at the entrance.

“This feels familiar, it is almost the same as the one with Lorien,” he recalled his fight with the knife-guy.

The red-haired guy began running into the ground at 7:13 am.

“Please leave me. What did I do?” he pleaded.

Ken started counting the no. of persons that chased him.

“There is 12, time to test my powers, I guess,” he finished counting and waited for his turn.

“You’re from Theron village, that’s your mistake,” one said to the red-haired guy.

Ken saw the blood coming from that red-haired guy’s head.

“They must have attacked him earlier, too,” he thought.

“Come play with me, if you can,” Ken shouted as he came out.
