27. The Silver Curse

“What is this place?” Ken, after seeing the beauty of the waterfall before him.

“I have never seen a waterfall like this before,” said Andrew.

“This is Silver Helion waterfall,” Galen told them.

“This is the only fall in the entire world that is silver in color,” he revealed an interesting fact.

“I never thought a fall would be silver in color,” Violet was stunned.

“Now I get why you hyped this place,” said Harkey, seeing Galen.

The sounds of the birds were loud yet pleasing as all 8 seemed to enjoy just looking at the waterfall.

“Blue sky, silver fall, I don’t know how to describe,” said Andrew as he was thrilled.

“This feels surreal for some reason,” he added.

“Why is this silver in color?” asked Lucera.

“I don’t know, but I have heard people say this fall has existed for over 1500 years,” replied Galen.

  “1500 years!” Ken was shocked.

“That’s insane. Why is no one here? This is other worldly,” Yucio after hearing Galen.

“Apparently, leopards are common in this area, and even the king got his scar here,” Galen told.

“Thank god, we have a great guide in Galen,” Harkey laughed.

“Does this guy think he is stronger than the king? How is he so confident in saying about the leopards?” Ken thought.

“Leopards are common? Shouldn’t we leave quickly?” Violet was scared after hearing those words.

“This fall is majestic, wait, what is that?” asked Haili after seeing a small place near the left side of it.

“My grandmother suggested this place,” Galen said.

“She also gave a warning that no one should go inside that cave near the fall,” he told them.

“No one who went inside has lived for more than a day; it is like a cursed place,” he revealed what his grandmother told him.

“Cursed place? I never heard of it,” Ken said as he was shocked.

“Then, why are we seeing it? Let’s ignore it,” Haili suggested.

“Yes, shall we eat our lunch here?” asked Lucera.

Everyone accepted, and they started eating their lunch near the fall.

It was 1:00 pm when they were eating.

Everyone had their own dishes; some had only snacks, like Andrew, Yucio, and Violet, while others, such as Ken, Lucera, and Haili, had brought homemade dishes.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Galen and Harkey are the ones who had not brought anything to eat. Everyone shared their food and ate.

“I have never eaten like this in a group,” Ken thought while eating.

“I never thought that I would have these kinds of friends,” he thought, feeling so happy.

“I must protect this friendship,” he thought to himself when he was eating.

“How did you know this much information, Galen?” asked Yucio.

“Ever since my childhood, I have been interested in history and learning about different places in the world,” he started his small backstory.

“I learned many things through travel and speaking to people; my family also gave me freedom to do whatever I want,” he said.

“I am like this, only thankful to my family,” he told them.

“What is one thing that shocked you the most when you first heard?” asked Violet.

“I have been to Dwarisia once”, one old man said. “There is no such thing as right or wrong, but only situations decide it,” Galen told.

  “Wow!” Harkey was surprised.

“That’s interesting to say the least,” Ken half-smiled.

Others were in awe after hearing those words.

25 minutes passed as they had a good conversation.

But something changed drastically. They started hearing some crazy sounds.

  The wind started blowing quickly.

“Are you guys hearing what I am hearing?” Ken asked.

“Yes, I have a bad feeling about this,” Andrew confirmed.

“This must be the sound of those leopards. Let’s leave now,” Violet was scared the most.

Everyone stood up and started packing their bags.

“I am sensing something wrong,” Ken thought.

“Sound is coming from the left side, we can leave in the same direction we came,” Galen gave a plan.

“Everyone, get in the car,” Ken ordered.

Everyone started getting into the car, but something unexpected happened.

Ken’s hat couldn’t resist the wind as it started flying along with the wind towards the left side.

“My hat!” Ken shouted, seeing his hat flying.

He tried running, but the wind was too strong.

“Leave it, Ken. Let’s leave,” Lucera told him.

“No, you guys leave, I will come with the hat,” he replied.

The hat went near that cursed cave.

“It’s going to go in,” Andrew shouted, seeing the hat flying near the cave.

The hat went inside the cave.

“I will go inside and bring it back,” Ken started running towards the cave.

“No, Ken, stop!” Andrew chased him.

  “Ken!!” Lucera shouted.

Everyone didn’t know how to react. They were shell-shocked.

Ken went inside the cave. Andrew was near the cave as he chased Ken.

Just as he entered the cave, Ken’s body felt electrified; he felt more attached to the ground.

“What is this feeling? My leg feels weird,” Ken finally realized.

The cave itself feels mysterious with its eerie atmosphere. It was relatively dark inside.

Only rocks were present as far as he could see.

“There’s my hat,” he said, finding his hat lying on the rock.

  “Ken!” Andrew entered the cave.

His body felt the same. “What is happening to my body?” he looked for answers in his mind.

Andrew finally saw him. Ken took his hat from the rock.

“Why are you here?” Ken turned back and was stunned by Andrew.

“It’s because of you, Idiot!” Andrew didn’t seem to enjoy the mood.

  “Me?” Ken’s mind was blank.

“Yes. Let’s leave first,” Andrew somehow controlled his anger.

“Everyone is waiting for us; we should leave quickly,” he added.

“Let’s go,” Ken said and started walking out of the cave.

“Wait, this is the cursed cave, right?” he finally realized.

“We went inside, right?” he was still in doubt.

“Yes, it’s all because of you,” Andrew’s anger resumed.

“What have I done? I am no less than an idiot,” he was in disbelief.

They both exited the cave. The remaining 6 of them were waiting for them in front of the car. They started running towards them.

  “Ken—” Lucera shouted.

  “See back,” Haili screamed.

They turned back, and it was leopards that were waiting for them. There were three leopards, which were almost 50 meters apart from Ken.

Ken stood still as he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“Run, we don’t have a choice,” Andrew said.

“Harkey, you drive Roger’s car,” he shouted.

“Galen, start the car,” he was running towards them.

Ken finally started running, and so did the leopards.

The leopards came closer to him even though he was trying his best.

Andrew came near the car. Others were watching Ken from inside the car.

Ken slipped as he fell. Suddenly, he remembered something. It was when he couldn’t decide on his direction that the horse chased him.

He remembered him flipping the coin and the horse reacting differently after seeing it.

His memory made an instant decision. He took out his coin without a second thought.

  “Ken!!” everyone screamed at him.

He flipped the coin. The coin shone due to the silver waterfall. It landed right in front of a leopard’s eyeline.
