Chapter 2 — The Oath of an Orphan

  Qinghe Village was peaceful.

  But peace never lasts.

Long Chen was only six years old. While other children played in the fields, he sat near the forge, listening to the steady rhythm of his father’s hammer striking steel. The sound calmed him.

Sometimes Tianhao would pause and look at his son with unease.

Those eyes were too deep for a child — as if they held a will that could one day shatter the sky itself.

Fate arrived sooner than anyone expected.

  The Night of Ash

A violent storm swept across the mountains. Thunder rolled as figures in black silently surrounded the village.

At their head stood Zhao Kuan, an elder of the Heaven Blood Sect.

“I knew it,” he said coldly. “The Divine aura is here.”

Tianhao understood at once. His past had finally caught up.

“Lin Yue — run! Take Chen and go!”

  He was already too late.

Battle erupted in the rain. Though his cultivation was gone, Tianhao fought beyond human limits, because a father’s resolve surpassed mere power.

A poisoned spear pierced his chest.

Lin Yue rushed forward to reach him — and fell to another strike.

Blood spread across the soaked earth.

  “Mother! Father!” Long Chen screamed.

Zhao Kuan glanced down at the boy with indifference. “No need to kill him. Even if he grows, he will never reach us.”

It was meant as an insult.

  It became a fatal mistake.

The village burned, and Long Chen stood alone among the flames. His childhood ended that night.

  The Oath

  He did not cry.

Only fire remained in his heart.

“I will not stay weak,” he whispered. “I will kill them.”

At that moment, the hidden Divine Slate rose into the air. Ancient light poured from its surface as a voice echoed inside his mind.

  Chosen… prove your existence.

  The world vanished.

  Divine Slate Net World

He opened his eyes within an endless gray realm where neither sky nor ground seemed real.

  The voice spoke again.

“One day outside equals ten years here.”

  His first trial began.

  Trial of Bones

Crushing gravity forced him to his knees.

  “Stand — or die.”

He fell thousands of times and rose thousands more. His bones shattered and reformed, each time stronger than before. Years passed in relentless suffering.

  He awakened the Star-Forged Body.

  Trial of Silence

Then came absolute darkness. No sound. No change. No sense of time.

Loneliness devoured the mind faster than pain ever could. Many would have gone mad — but Long Chen endured. He carved marks into the ground to count the passing days.

In the end, he realized the truth.

Loneliness was not his enemy. Fear was.

When he accepted solitude, his will hardened into steel.

  The Void Heart was born.

  Forbidden Cultivation

The Slate then granted him a forbidden technique — the Limit Breaker Art.

Each broken limit would double the pain required to advance.

His muscles tore. His meridians burned. Blood filled his mouth again and again. Still, he continued.

  Not for glory.

  Not for ambition.

  Only for vengeance.

  Three Hundred Years

Within the Slate’s realm, three hundred years passed.

Outside — only a single day.

The child disappeared. In his place stood a will shaped by centuries of trial.

The voice spoke one final time.

“You are not infinite, but you are one who devours limits.”

The Divine Slate merged into his chest. It was no longer an artifact.

It had become part of him.

  Return

He stood once more among the ruined remains of his village. Even the air felt distant around him now.

Long Chen looked toward the sky and spoke quietly.

  “Zhao Kuan. Heaven Blood Sect.”

  “I am coming.”

  End of Chapter 2

Thank you for walking this path with Long Chen.

Each trial shapes his strength — the next gate is already opening.
