Arc III: “Return of Darkness”
Chapter II: “Lady Soap”
Episode VIII: “Fall of Utopia III”
[Ryoda and Raida vs. Kukito]
Dammit, I let them get one over on me—but it won’t last. Kukito’s thoughts echoed inside the sealing sphere. They’re not strong enough to hold me.
Ryoda felt it too. I don’t have much time. He poured every ounce of his Flow into his aura, tearing across the sky while dragging Kukito with him.
“I’m not sure what you’re planning, Ryoda…” Raida called out, struggling to keep pace. “…But I believe in you. Give it to ‘em!”
The city vanished beneath them as Ryoda veered away from the residential districts—toward the massive reactor that plunged into Utopia’s core.
But the seal cracked.
“RAHHH!” Kukito’s Yield surged violently, the sphere shattering as dark pressure exploded outward.
Ryoda grimaced. Something’s not right… His Yield may have increased again, but now it seems like he’s lost control. The aether has become unstable, and it’s too much for him to handle. “…Don’t worry, old friend,” Ryoda murmured. “I’ll put you out of your misery.
Raida lagged behind now, his Flow nearly spent. What are you going to do, brother? Why the planet’s core?
The answer hit him all at once.
“Brother—stop!” Raida shouted, dread flooding his voice. “You don’t have to do this! You don’t have to sacrifice yourself!”
Ryoda couldn’t hear him—but he understood anyway.
He closed his eyes, smiling faintly. “It’s alright, older brother. Our people will live on… with you.”
A pause.
“You’re the one with a family waiting for you.”
Raida felt warmth bloom in his palm.
Yellow. Radiant.
The Heart of Utopia… Ryoda must have passed it to me when he seized Kukito. “…So that’s it,” Raida whispered. “You really are doing this.”
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
Ryoda faced Kukito fully.
“I’ve let you suffer long enough,” he said calmly. “I’ll end this now.”
Kukito could barely respond—his pupils swallowed by darkness, his body trembling as power devoured him from within.
“Grand Javelin!”
The spear tore through Kukito’s chest.
Before the explosion finished blooming, Ryoda seized him and dove straight into the reactor.
If I take him into the core… the ambient aether should be enough to stop him.
They slammed into a dense aether deposit.
The planet screamed.
At the last instant, Kukito struck back—hurling Ryoda clear.
The explosion detonated beneath them.
Across Utopia, ley lines ruptured. Ambient aether bled away. Life withered.
“Dammit!” Raida snarled.
Using the last of the aether Ryoda had bestowed upon him, he rushed to Carrie’s side—unconscious, broken. With Kai’s help, he found a ship, loading Carrie and their children aboard.
I couldn’t save anyone else… The planet was already dying.
From that day on, neighboring worlds would remember the fall of Planet Utopia.
And Kukito—named its cause—would be known as Apocalypse.
The one who brings the end of worlds.
[Six months later – Planet Kaelos]
Raida, Carrie, Kai, and the children found refuge on Planet Kaelos.
Cataline survived as well—rescued by her children, harboring Rikito and Asuka.
After regrouping, she returned to the only patron who had ever valued the Soap lineage for what it truly was.
Lord Acier.
Ruler of the Universe.
She told him everything.
Including the possibility that the Heart of Utopia had escaped… to Kaelos.
[Acier’s arrival]
The sky burned.
Everyone knew what it meant when Lord Acier descended personally.
Thousands fled in Drift Spheres—many were vaporized before they cleared the atmosphere.
[Akira’s memory]
“Move! Get out—now!” Raida shouted.
He shoved a child into a Drift Sphere—Akira—motioning urgently to Carrie.
“No,” she said, fierce. “I’m not leaving you. If you fight, I fight.”
“Don’t be a fool,” Raida snapped. “Our son needs you. Kyte’s incubation ward was destroyed in the first strike—now go!”
But it was too late.
The ground split. The remaining ships shattered.
“…Dammit,” Raida breathed. “We’re out of time.”
He locked in the coordinates.
The Drift Sphere launched.
Akira drifted upward, faint gold light flickering around him, screaming through tears as his parents shrank from view.
Raida exhaled slowly.
“…Alright. We’ll distract him.”
“I’m with you,” Carrie said.
“Then let’s go.”
They flew into the sky—joining hundreds of Kaelithians rising in defiance.
[Elsewhere]
“Come on—move!” Rikito whispered, sprinting through Acier’s ship with infant Asuka clutched to his chest.
Using the chaos as cover, he slipped past patrols, freed captive Kaelithians, and entrusted both his and his sister’s safety to one of them.
Moments later—
Acier unleashed a single, devastating Art.
Planet Kaelos was erased.
[The Present – Akira vs. Apocalypse]
What… was that? Images swirled through Akira’s mind. Spirit…?
“Yes,” the Spirit replied. “What you witnessed was not a single memory—but an echo. Woven from many lives… from when your uncle—the last God of Utopia—was my host.”
Akira lay motionless in the crater.
“What a pitiful showing,” Apocalypse said, descending slowly. “Last time… you fought like nothing could stop you.”
He hesitated.
And you fought to protect what mattered.
Ryoda’s face flickered through his thoughts.
“Goodbye, Lyte.”
Dark energy spiraled around his hand as he reached forward.
From Akira’s chest, golden light answered—drawn toward Apocalypse’s grasp.
At last… The Heart of Utopia will be mine.
