[Just over two hours ago]
With blurred vision, Lian blinked slowly. He faded in and out of darkness.
He lay buried under rubble; the wall beneath the stands sagged over his head.
Purple blood threaded down his gray skin; dust gritted between his teeth.
Dammit, I lost.
I was happy to fight her because I thought she might be connected to the A.S.S. Gang, but I never thought I would lose…
He closed his eyes again, but this time he drifted into the darkness without returning.
[When Zane and Rayon arrived]
What!? What’s going on… such an intense surge of aether!
Lian was fading in and out of consciousness when Zane and Rayon picked him up. His vision was blurred, and he couldn’t stay focused.
[Now]
“Ugh…” Lian groaned and opened his eyes.
“Oh, you’re awake,” Asuka said.
“You sure took your sweet time, Mr. God of Solaris. I finished healing you a while ago.”
He must have been pretty burnt out…
“Where am I?”
“The infirmary,” Zane said.
“We brought you here to protect you. The other competitors are fighting against the A.S.S Gang right now.”
“What!? The A.S.S. Gang is here?”

“Yes… and apparently my friend Sikira has teamed up with them,” Asuka said in remorse.
So, I was right!
“Okay, then we must go join the battle too.”
“Wait, you’re still resting!”
“Yeah, besides, I haven’t finished my suit yet. Those guys out there are way out of our league.”
Lian closed his eyes; sigils pricked behind his eyelids as the arena’s ley lines sketched themselves in light.
Yes… Our opponents completely outclass us…
“Then there is only one option left. I will use my aether to cultivate your bodies’ progression.”
“What? What do you mean?” Asuka asked.
“Yeah, you’ve never done that for me before!” Zane said.
“It’s one of my Elandarian abilities. I can’t use it often, and I won’t be able to fight with you guys once I do it.”
“Let’s do it,” Leo said, waking up.
“If it will let us fight against those monsters!”
“Ugh, fine. But I want my strength boosted too,” Asuka said.
[The arena]
Akira, Rikito, and Draig had already been defeated.
“I’m taking this one back with us. Take him to the ship,” Ronin said, pointing to Akira.
“What about this one?” Kyte asked, pointing to Rikito.
“Eh, he’s not bad. But the quality is poor compared to this one. Just take the one.”
“Yes, sir.”
Kyte picked up Akira and threw him over his shoulder, then started flying back to the ship.
“Stop right there!” Zane shouted.
He arrived with Asuka and Leo at his side.
“And who are you?” Ronin asked, “Actually, don’t answer that. I don’t really care.”
“We’re going to beat you, you bastard!” Leo shouted.
“Wait a minute…”
Ronin looked closer at Leo.
“You’re a Caliekian, aren’t you? Oh, that’s amazing. Hilarious!” Ronin laughed.
“Kyte, go give that savage-blood to Sikira and let her deal with him. I want you to go clean up those vermin down there.”
“Yes, sir.”
Sikira flew out of the ship, good as new, and took Akira from Kyte.
“Sikira! What are you doing! Why are you working with them?” Asuka asked.
Sikira stopped and looked down at her before leaving.
“Damn her!” Asuka said.
She flew up towards the ship, but Kyte intercepted her.
“Outta my way!”
Then, someone soared past Asuka and Kyte.
What was that! Kyte thought as his eyes darted upwards.
It was Leo. He flew straight for Ronin.
“You’re mine, you bastard!”
“Woah! Where’s all this animosity coming from?” Ronin chuckled.
“You know damn well what you did! Your gang slaughtered my people! And the ones that you left alive are used as slaves!
I’m going to kill you and destroy your trade organization!”
Ronin’s laughter faded to dark seriousness, his smile thinned; heat puckered the air between them.
“What’s with all these pests trying to get in my way… fine. I’ll grant you your wish. I’ll crush you with my own hands.”
“Third Threshold: Singularity!”
Leo unleashed the same form he attempted to use against Akira. Two channels swung open in his meridians.
This kid is impressive! Zane admired as he watched Leo fight.
“Oh, wait, that’s right! I need to show off my new suit! MKII!”
Sleek plates snapped into place with magnetic clicks as metallic armor assembled around Zane’s body at a rapid rate.
Then he rushed to help Asuka fight Kyte.
“HA!” Asuka shouted as she unleashed Spirit Resonance to fight Kyte with Zane.
How did they get so much stronger in such a short time? Kyte wondered.
Regardless, he was easily able to hold them both back at the same time. They had good unison with their attacks, but it mattered not in Kyte’s presence. Ronin, too, was able to hold back Leo, but he was also surprised by Leo’s strength.
We don’t have time for this… he is probably on his way already. Ronin thought to himself.
“Kyte! Deal with this.”
Ronin Aether-Skipped behind Leo and used his palm to push him at Kyte.
“I’m leaving before he arrives. I’m sure you’ll be able to clean up the rest of this mess yourself.”
Ronin quickly flew into the massive ship and closed the door.
The criminals who were unlucky enough not to notice were either knocked out or still fighting in the stands.
High above, the ship’s hull groaned—a rolling thunder that made the arena lights flicker.
Kyte alone was surrounded by Asuka, Zane, and Leo.
