Kyte stepped out of the crater, Zane’s head clenched in his grasp. He turned and spat blood.
He dropped to his natural state, steam lifting off his skin.
Oh no… Asuka thought, her breath hitching.
Kyte’s mouth split wide, green light flooding out.
“Berserker Blast!”
“AH!”
In a split second, someone appeared in front of her and deflected the blast.
“Brother?!” she yelped.
Brother? Then it must be him— Rikito.
He is strong, but not strong enough to defeat me— is what I want to think… but these people keep surprising me.
“Hmph. Don’t tell me you all lost to this one fool. You must be begging me to kill him for you.”
Rikito turned to look at Asuka.
“Heal these weaklings, would you? Start with the boy,” he said, pointing at Leo.
“R-right.”
“What do you hope to do alone, Rikito? You can’t beat me. You might as well wait until your sister heals all your friends.”
“Hahaha. I didn’t take you to be a comedian. I don’t need their help to beat you. In fact, I could end you at any moment I choose.”
“What?”
“You heard me. Don’t tell me you’re deaf— and a comedian. How will you hear me laugh at your absurd jokes?”
“Silence!”
Kyte’s aether spiked, bursting its way out of his body.

Kyte rose into his Limit-Breaking form, his rage swelling to a climax.
This won’t do… He isn’t using that Juggernaut Drive of his. I need to push him further…
“Hmph. I was going to save this for when I defeat Akira, but I suppose this is a good opportunity to test it in battle.”
What’s he talking about?
“Demonic Base Form!”
His eyes turned violet as purple aether welled up within him.
“HAA— Soul Resonance: Demon Spirit Resonance!”
A dark, ominous violet aura hugged Rikito’s body. His eyes and hair were dark purple. His aura was fiery and sparkling.
“Is that— the power of the Dystopians?!”
“Oh, so you know of us. Ah, that’s right— you’re part Utopian too, right?”
Rikito crouched low to the ground, one hand balancing against the dirt, the other high in the air. He Aether-Skipped.
Kyte’s gaze darted.
Rikito appeared in a blind spot above him, but Kyte managed to track him and raise his guard.
Still, Rikito was too fast for Kyte.
He Aether-Skipped again and appeared behind Kyte, drilling a hard blow.
“What’s wrong? Can’t keep up?”
Dammit! He’s gotten stronger, too. I have to close the gap—
Rikito put his palm up towards Kyte.
“Implosion!”
A black-hole-like orb was created in front of Kyte, pulling space and matter inward. It dragged Kyte in before rapidly detonating.
“Argh!”
Kyte knelt, panting— the accumulated scars on his body leaking.
“Huh. So, the monster can bleed.”
As Kyte’s view darkened, a vision flooded his psyche—
“Kyte! Kyte!” a woman called.
Two stubby hands came into view, waving around his face as they tried to reach out to the woman.
“Look at him, so cute next to his brother!” she said.
“They’ll both grow up to be great warriors that will protect Utopia,” A man next to her said. “They’ll represent the Lyte family well.”
“Our sweet $#%@& and Kyte!”
Mother… father… and brother—
—his vision focused; light welled at the end of the tunnel as he snapped back to reality.
His power surged out from within him.
“HAAAA!”
Not only did he unleash his Juggernaut Drive, but his Utopic Blessing triggered— partially healing some of his wounds and restoring his strength.
“This was unexpected… he’s even stronger than he was at the arena.”
“Don’t tell me you’re scared, Rikito!”
Rikito had a fierce look in his eyes.
“Don’t you ever... say something so disrespectful like that to me again.”
Rikito’s power surged too, blowing Kyte’s aura back.
How?
“Demon Force…”
Rikito’s full power flourished.
D-dammit!
“Black Lightning Dash!”
He blitzed Kyte— so fast the pain didn’t register until it was over.
One more time—
“Implosion!”
He blasted Kyte again, bringing him to his knees.
“It’s over,” Rikito said as he was about to deliver the final blow.
“Uh-uh-uh.”
Ronin caught Rikito’s fist.
“W-what?!”
I couldn’t even sense his power!
Rikito quickly backed away.
Ronin turned around to see Kyte, defeated.
“To think someone pushed Kyte this far… perhaps I overestimated his abilities…”
Then he looked back at Rikito.
“Or maybe… I underestimated the competition,” he said, licking his lips.
“Ugh. Disgusting.”
Rikito stared daggers.
“This is perfect. Now I can finish the both of you at the same time.”
“Finish us? Don’t make me laugh, savage-blood.”
“S-savage-blood!?”
“Did I stutter? Now— sit,” Ronin said, glaring.
Rikito’s vision blurred; his legs went numb, and he pitched forward onto his forearms.
W-what!? What happened?
“That’s more like it. Now, as a reward for defeating Kyte, I’ll show you something special.”
Ronin put both of his hands over his head. He gathered his energy; his aether spun a circle of runes overhead.
“Wrath of Azra!”
The sigils sang as the array locked— each rune a note in a cold hymn. A vast, blue-white fire-orb bloomed in the sky and began to descend.
The Art erased most of the island as Ronin flew off carrying Kyte.
“Rikito!” Asuka screamed.
Rikito raised an aether borg—a hardlight barrier— shielding everyone, then collapsed.
Asuka sprinted across the sliver of land that remained, hands already tinted with a green glow.
