Arc II: “Universal Threat”
Chapter I: “Cosmic Tournament”
Episode II: “Tournament!?”
The doors of the ship slowly opened to reveal Cosmic Guards lined up inside.
Behind them, Akira and Riella made their way up to the front.
“Oh, hey, it’s Darc and Rayon! What’s up, guys? It’s been a while!”
“Akira!”
“Hello.”
“Are these your friends?” Riella whispered to Akira.
“Two of them. The rest are probably in a small town a few hours from here. You sure you don’t want to come meet them?”
“Y-yeah. I’d better stay here. Have fun though!”
“Yup. I’ll see you guys later!” Akira hopped off the ship, and without a moment to spare, the soldiers were already restocking the ship with food and other supplies.
“So, you guys wanna head to Woodberry with me?”
“I suppose I wouldn’t mind that,” Rayon said, trying to act like he had better things to do.
“Yeah, alright!” Darc shouted.
[A few hours later at New Woodberry City]
“Hey, I’m back. Is anyone home?” Akira walked into the house with Rayon and Darc behind him.
“Akira!” Fevee ran up to hug him.
“Asuka is in the kitchen still finishing up some cooking. We wanted to surprise you with a big meal, haha.”
“Oh, sweet!”
“You brought Rayon and Darc too! Hey guys, it’s been a while.”
“Hey!” Darc waved with a bright smile.

“Evening,” Rayon said flatly.
“I’ll be right back. You guys can go sit down. Asuka and I will bring out the food in a sec.”
“Yes, ma’am!” Akira saluted Fevee.
What a clown! Fevee laughed to herself.
[A few minutes later]
“What!?” Akira yelled.
“Yeah, that’s right. It’ll have some people from nearby planets, too,” Rayon said.
“And it’ll be soon. In a couple of months,” Darc said.
“Wow…”
Asuka and Fevee entered the room, bringing in food.
“H-hey, Akira,” Asuka locked eyes with him.
“Hey.”
His eyes softened in relief now that he was finally able to lay eyes on her.
“What were you guys talking about? We could hear you from the other side of the house.”
“Oh. Darc and Rayon were just telling me about the tournament that’s coming up in a few months.
Apparently, there’ll be fighters from all over the world, and other planets too! Sounds like a great chance to meet some interesting people, right?”
“Hehehe, you’re certainly a Kaelithian, alright.”
The five of them enjoyed the feast that night, and Darc and Rayon left to head back to the UFA.
They told Akira that they planned on finishing up their training to challenge him in the tournament.
Of course, he was excited to take on the challenge.
[The next morning]
Woah. I feel an insane source of aether rapidly approaching. Akira ran outside the house.
Is that… it is!
“So, it is you, Rikito!”
“Hmph. I see your senses haven’t dulled, Akira,” Rikito flew out of the air and landed before Akira.
“It’s been a while, hasn’t it. Nice of you to stop by.”
“Whatever.”
“Are you participating in that upcoming tournament?”
“Of course I am, you fool. And I expect to see you there.”
“So… What’d you come here for. Do you need something?”
“I was going to wait until the tournament to crush you, but I couldn’t take it anymore… brace yourself, Akira. I’m going to show you the difference in our powers!”
“Is that so? Alright, come then. I’ll take you on,” Akira said, taking up his fighting stance.
Rikito also took up his stance.
The two of them had a long stare down, neither one moving an inch. It wasn't until a cat stepped on a branch near them that they flinched.
Simultaneously, they Aether-Skipped and reappeared in the air.
Their clashes sent shockwaves throughout the city. Rikito had a slight edge in power, but Akira was able to keep up using technique.
The two of them separated, backing away from each other.
“Hmph, not bad,” Rikito remarked.
“Neither are you!”
The two of them smiled at each other.
“Enough games… let me show you my new power!” Rikito bragged as he began charging up.
“HA!”
He was surrounded by a black and purple aura, his hair flared up, and his eyes were dark purple. Violet highlights formed under his eyes like neon eyeshadow.
Windows of nearby buildings began cracking, the force of their aether wreaking havoc through the surroundings.
“Is that!?”
“Yes… But it’s slightly different from what you remember. I call it the Demon Force!
After you defeated my father, this power was passed on to me. But I don’t just take handouts! I made this power my own and cultivated a new level of strength!
Now, it’s even on par with your God of Utopia form, a Dark Utopic Force!”
“Yeah, no kidding. That form sure is packing some serious firepower, hehe.
But don’t think you’re the only one with a new form!
HAAAA!”
Akira also started charging up.
His aura erupted like a storm, hair whipping upward, eyes burning white.
He ascended to his new Perfect Spirit Resonance form, but he wasn’t done powering up.
His gold aura started popping like fireworks as his aura became fiery. His eyes flashed gold, and his hair flowed with the immense winds and pressure he created.
“HAAAA!”
Before he could finish powering up, Asuka and Fevee ran outside.
“Akira! Rikito! What the hell are the two of you doing! You’re going to destroy the whole town!” Asuka yelled.
The two of them, flabbergasted by her appearance, powered down and slowly descended to the ground.
“I guess we’ll finish this at the tournament, Rikito. Hehehe!”
“Hmph,” Rikito flew off, leaving New Woodberry.
“Ugh! He’s such a jerk,” Asuka said.
“Hey, we were just having a little spar.”
Asuka hit Akira on the back of the head.
“You too! You both should know better than to use that much power in a populated area!”
“Hehe, yeah, you’re right. My bad.” Akira said, rubbing the back of his head.
The three of them walked back inside.
