107. To Prepare One For A Farewell

A properly good morning to you, my dear reader...

  Indeed.

A properly good one, I say.

Why, the very morning I do now experience, I would argue...

Most eloquent and beauteous as always...

And as for you, I would say...

  Hmmm?

  Indeed.

  Cold as ever.

  Yes...

Do stay warm, my dear reader...

  I would hazard to argue...

That the very failure of a man or a woman to take care of their own person remains their own fault...

  'Tis my own belief.

  Indeed.

  And even so, why...

Do I believe we are both well aware of what you are here for.

  Yes...

The very next chapter of the book Runaway!

And of it all, I must say...

That you have come to the full understanding of as to why it is named as such...

  However and even so, why...

  Would I argue...

That you know yet other reasons remain...

  Indeed.

Do fail to be fooled, my dear reader...

  The very tale...

  Has only just begun.

  Indeed.

And thereof, I do suppose we shall begin.

  Ahem...

From the very moment that I did leave the very pair of us...

As young Jake Phyr did come out fully dressed...

His old clothing in one hand...

The very gifts from the merchants in the other...

  Yes...

I do believe you remember all that.

  Moving along.

  Ah, yes...

As the very Madams and Sir did admire the look of the lad...

  He simply and easily...

  Walked outside the carriage...

  Opening the door...

All the while to pick up his axe...

  Only for...

  Victoria: Now hold on!

The very Madam Hathaway to rush over to him...

The very reason to properly set the straps upon his person.

'Twas a very simple process, yes...

Why, the very lad did set his person to something of a T-pose...

  Yes...

Allowing the very young lady to quickly and effortlessly set up the straps...

  Upon his person.

  Indeed.

  Even so, why...

Did the very woman do it with the utmost accuracy and certainty...

Ensuring not to make a mess of things as she set it around his body...

And of it, did Fren Chavalier and Madam Thornberry find themselves walking towards the pair...

Madam Thornberry from the inside of the carriage...

And Fren Chavalier from the outside...

Now both, bearing witness to the final set of clothing upon the lad...

  Indeed...

Victoria: Now, I assure you that these straps will indeed hold. However...

As she tightened them about his waist...

Victoria: ... as a warrior, I do suppose I lack a need to remind you of this. But do take care while you walk through doors...

The very words she said, for the young lad's straps set the weapon perpendicular to his own person...

  Behind his back...

  Yes.

You do understand what that means, I believe...

  Hmmm?

  Indeed.

  The axe across his back...

  Yes...

  Even so, why...

Was it across his own waist...

Leaving him with the ability to simply pluck it from that place...

And to use it in battle...

To say nothing of the very straps around his body to ensure that it remained supported...

  Yes.

A most useful gift followed by a most useful form of the gift...

  Indeed, my dear reader...

  Indeed.

  Moving along...

  Victoria: And there...

The very woman took a step back to inspect her work...

All the while the very Fren and Madam Thornberry as well did so...

  Indeed.

  Victoria: All finished...

To which her allies fully replied...

Fren: Most exquisite, I should say...

Nancy: Indeed! A most smashing form he has taken.

Yes, every proper tailor and artist is as such.

A thing of humanity, I would say.

Why, did Madam Thornberry take yet more time to observe the very sight in front of her.

  As did Fren Chavalier...

  Fren: Hmph.

  As for the young lad...

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

  Why...

With his destroyed clothes upon his hands...

And a bag of meat cold to the teeth upon his other hand, why...

Was he still the same as ever.

Not a hint of joy to him.

  Jake: Thank you...

  As for Madam Victoria...

Why, the very woman was taken only a foot aback...

At the very remark of the lad...

  Before she...

Victoria: Oh. Why... 'twas no trouble at all, my dear lad...

  Yes.

She played it off as something simple, one would say...

  As...

Fren: Oh, ho, ho, a good job my girls. A good job indeed.

  Nancy: Oh, you...

Victoria: Truly, I say, truly... 'twas no trouble at all...

  Indeed...

  They all with their chatter...

Fren: Why, the very young lad does now look like a proper warrior.

  Victoria: Indeed.

  Nancy: Surely.

And following the very same, why...

Did Madam Thornberry continue all the same...

Nancy: Now then, my dear boy...

She did walk up beside him...

Placing her hand upon his shoulder...

Gently plucking at her own design...

Nancy: Do take care to simply brush this piece should it find itself dirty.

  Indeed.

Thereof, did she from her very pockets pull a small brush...

One the very likes of which could be held up...

  Hmmm...

'Twould be better to simply call it the average size of a brush...

  Yes.

  Indeed.

The very brush did she give to the young lad...

The very one he did take and place into another pocket...

  All before...

  Fren: Very good, Madam Thornberry.

Nancy: Oh, 'tis no trouble at all. Truly...

  As for Madam Victoria, why...

I do suppose she felt a tad bit left out, as they say...

Victoria: And do take care not to sharpen that blade. Why... the very reinforcement should allow you to make good use of that blade irregardless of where you do find yourself. Why... should you...

The very words she said while closely inspecting her blade...

Bending over to see it and watch it...

Victoria: ... require any such need for this weapon. Indeed. Simply ask a blacksmith. He or she shall know what to do.

And with that, did she arise as well after...

Fren: Hmmm. Indeed, Madam Hathaway, indeed. A very good summary.

Victoria: I was only doing my part, Fren. Simply and only.

  Yes...

  And as for Fren Chavalier...

Why, I do suppose that his words were most simple...

  Indeed.

Fren: And as for me, why... I do think you are well aware of how and how to utilise the meat I gave you. Why, a warrior of your calibre needs no introduction to the ways of cooking, but if I may...

He did walk up to the lad...

Fren: ... simply spice it, salt it, and... why...

Did the very man then and suddenly...

  Oh, so energetically...

Get himself out of his state...

  Rush towards his own carriage...

  Through the window as before...

  And thereafter...

  Return with a small bag...

One the very likes of which contained...

Fren: Do feel free to try my very assortment of spices. Indeed. The very mix is of my own making... and the very guarantee is of my own heart. Indeed. This shall make your meat taste delectable... no matter what.

  Indeed.

The very man handed it over to the lad...

  And...

Fren: Simply add them, or fail to. Truly... 'tis of no concern to my own person.

And the young lad did take the spices as well...

  Soon after saying...

  Jake: Thank you...

And turning to the two women and continuing...

Jake: Thanks to all of you...

  Indeed...

  Before the very...

Well, I do suppose you are well aware of what's afoot now, my dear reader.

  Indeed.

Soon, very soon, shall the young lad need to leave.

  And thereof...

Nancy: Oh, worry not my dear child. Why... if not for you, we all could very well be dead now.

  Victoria: Indeed.

The very woman spoke with a tight sealed lip following her remark...

  And as for Fren Chavalier...

Fren: Indeed. Why... 'tis the very least we could do, correct my friends?

  Nancy: Indeed.

  Victoria: Truly...

  Yes...

This all was a simplistic moment, I would say.

The very words before the farewell...

  Yes...

  For...

'Tis simply of the human heart...

What is it that they say...

  That parting causeth sorrow...

  Hmmm...

  Something like that.

  No.

  Hmmm...

Yes, I do believe that that is the thing...

Well, at the very least the very idea remains there...

  Somewhere.

  Indeed.

  Moving along...

  Ah, yes...

The very long and short of it, as they say...

Why, following the very notions that followed...

  Indeed...

Just after they had said all that...

Did the very young lad set himself to leave...

  Before...

Fren: Oh, Mr. Florian! Reginald! Do come over!

  Indeed...

He did call the very pair of them...

Just as the young lad, strapped and ready to go was.

  Indeed.

Why, any moment later, and the very young lad would have gotten to his feet and walked away.

  Indeed.

The very lad's ears were perked...

Having heard two sounds quite distinctively...

One, the very shout of the man...

  Hmmm...

  No, 'twas no shout...

The very man by the name of Reginald Walterson is simply very loud.

  Indeed.

The very sound of that man as he spoke...

Reginald: Oh, indeed! Why, I did expect you to call for me soon. Why, I was expecting it all so seriously.

And as for the very man by the name of Florian Addison...

  Why, did his voice follow...

However, was it only the young lad that heard the very shuffling of steps in his own carriage...

A product of the young lad's very own training and talent, I would say...

  Indeed.

The man by the name of Florian Addison...

  Yes...

He did soon after the very Reginald speak...

  Saying...

  Florian: Coming...!

And thereof, perhaps for his larger size and wider gait...

Did the very Reginald appear first of the two...

  Thereafter remarking...

Reginald: My, my... the very lad looks quite as the very epitome of a proper warrior.

  Nancy: Indeed.

Reginald: Why, I suppose this is your handiwork Madam Thornberry?

Nancy: Why, of course, my good sir.

  Reginald: Oh, ho, ho, ho...

The very man swung his cane around, twirling it...

Reginald: Good show. A jolly good show indeed.

And as for the one that followed him, why...

  Was it Florian Addison...

The very one who, somewhat crouched, one could call it...

Did soon after come to them.

Florian: Mr. Fren. I am here. For what...

Why, the very man failed to even finish his sentence...

For, at the very sight of the young lad...

Even and so, at the motioning of Fren Chavalier to the young lad...

  Did he immediately understand.

  Indeed.

  Florian: My...

The very man did take a step further simply to better observe the young lad...

Florian: Why... his very attire... 'tis most splendid, I should say.

  And carrying along, did he...

Well, you shall see for yourself...

  Indeed...

Perhaps he would sprout wings and fly as a dragon?

  Hmmm?

  Oh, ho, ho, ho...

  No, no, no...

  I merely jest...

  Even so, why...

Did the very man soon say...

Florian: The very look upon you. A young lad... clad in the armour well fit for a warrior... a massive blade about your back... and the very power in your hands and feet... why, it does remind me of and symbolise the very beginning of violence itself.

  And with a further step...

Florian: A fierce energy sweeping through his midst... a warrior carrying a daunting blade... only for the warrior himself to be even more daunting than the blade... armour both rich and tough, only for the fittest, and yet also, worn by the fittest...

Why, he did lose himself, I would say...

Florian: The energy emerging from his very wake... Bloodied corpses of beast and foe... A warrior upon warriors... A battler of battles... One of mighty strength... Why...

The very man did only a bit more...

  Go on...

Florian: Truly, power is in the lad... And yet...

'Twas then and there that the very man did finally catch himself...

  Yes.

A most interesting thing, I should say...

  Why, did they all...

Fren Chavalier, Madam Thornberry, Madam Hathaway and Reginald Walterson...

  They all...

Start to laugh at the man oh-so brightly...

Leaving him, as he turned his back to see them...

  Returning to his cowardly shape...

  Yes...

  Crouching down...

  Lowering his back...

All the while returning to his place...

  Behind the others.

As for the young lad, why...

I do believe you are well aware...

  Indeed...

He merely stood there and did nothing else.

  Not a word...

  None, really.

  Moving along...

  Ah, yes...

Did Fren Chavalier soon pat his ally's back...

  The very Florian...

  Soon after saying...

Fren: Very good, my good man, very good.

As the very rest of them did continue in their boughs of laughter...

Leaving the ashamed man to lower his back further...

  Indeed.

Reginald: Indeed, I say. Why, the very poetic statements... truly... I do decree... 'twas a most fitting end to things.

  Fren: Truly...

  Nancy: Most certainly...

  Victoria: Agreed.

And did they soon after continue their laughter...

Leaving the very man to hold himself in sorrow, one would say...

'Twas most ashaming, one would agree...

To be laughed at oh-so free-willingly...

However and even so, I should say...

And as their tears of laughter did come to a close...

  Why...

As the very Fren Chavalier did wipe a tear from his eyes...

Fren: Ah... I did require such a laugh.

  Victoria: Indeed.

  Nancy: Truly.

Reginald: I also myself required one such laugh. Oh-ho-ho-ho.

Yes, they all did remark these things.

Before they all did remark to one another...

Fren: Florian, my good man. Quite the poet you are, and why, I do suppose you have always been that way.

Victoria: Indeed. I do suppose... perhaps 'tis why you do prefer the very trade you have chosen.

Reginald: Indeed. Why, 'twould be a failure of such a man to do anything less...

  Nancy: Truly!

  Yes...

That all, with their heads turned from the young lad...

Him simply waiting for them all to be done with all this.

And of the very same, why...

Did Fren Chavalier soon return his attention to the lad...

  Fren: Very good then...

And the very rest of them follow after him...

Turning their faces to the lad, all of them...

  And thereof...

Fren: Dear lad, I do suppose that this shall be where we let our eyes see you for the very last time... at least for a good while.

Nancy: Indeed. Why, I do apologise should we have kept you from a place you most certainly needed to be. Truly, I say... 'twas not our intent.

  Victoria: Indeed.

Reginald: Yes. Do take care of yourself my dear boy. And of what I gave you, why, do make sure to make the very best use of it. I assure you. You shall not be embarassed by the results or by trusting my words. Yes.

  And following a small pause...

Why, I do suppose that they all expected Florian to speak sooner...

  However and even so, why...

  Florian: Yes. Indeed. Ummm...

Why, the very man suddenly thought to himself...

Florian: (thinking: What else could I say about the pen?)

  Indeed...

Florian: Do... uhhh... (thinking: What can I say? What?)

Words failed him for a moment...

However, as they say, are writers quite sharp.

Florian: ... fail to worry about refilling it with different inks. Why, the mixture inside of it is so potent that even in a mixture it shall fail to run dry.

  Indeed.

  A most clever response.

Florian: And also, for the switch-on-blade, do not sleep upon it.

'Twas at that that his compatriots did all laugh ever so loudly.

  Why...

'Twas a good joke, one would say.

  Indeed.

Did I not say that writers were clever folk?

Well, perhaps not always, I would say.

  Indeed.

And of the very same, why...

Did the young lad, seeing their laughter, simply...

  Hmmm...

  Time is up?

  Yet again?

  Why...

Well, we shall have to get along some time later then.

Do enjoy the rest of your day, dear reader.

Why, simply sitting still, I say.

  'Tis most unbecoming.

Most especially if you find yourself to be a man.
