115. To Have A Meal

A good morrow, yet again, I should say.

I should warn you, this chapter shall get...

  Hmmm...

Well, I do suppose I shall see about that.

  Indeed.

  Even so, why...

A very good morning to you, my dear reader...

  A good morning indeed.

And of the very same, I should say, why...

Does your morning most certainly find itself to be oh-so cold as before...

  Am I wrong?

  ...

  Indeed.

  Same as always in winter...

  ...

  Ah, yes...

  I and the young lad...

Why, we are doing quite well, I would say...

  Indeed.

  ...

  Hmmm...

Now that is a topic for another day...

  Indeed...

  Now then...

We shall be getting along now, shan't we?

  Indeed.

  Ahem...

Of the very same, shall I start exactly where I left you...

  Yes...

  Indeed.

  Right at this very mark...

  Just as the young lad...

  ...

  Hmmm...

  Ah, yes...

  I did say this...

Just as his voice was slightly...

  Exhausted...

  No, no...

The better word here would be strained...

  Indeed.

A slightly strained voice did he use...

And of the very same why, did the young lad walk into the bedroom...

The very reason to rest upon the bed...

Failing to close the very door behind himself...

  Indeed.

Why, the very reason for the fact that he'd found no reason to.

And of the very same, did he lay the massive axe that he did carry along...

As well as the bag of fresh meat along with...

All the way with him to the side of the room...

  And on the bed lying...

All the while, looking to the rooftop...

  In all and utter silence...

  Indeed.

A most quiet position, I should say...

Why, even so, did he fail to move or look around...

  But simply, to the rooftops.

All the same, did he hear everything that did happen...

'Twas a most boring situation, one would say...

  Indeed.

One person riding upon the carriage...

And then another and then another...

The very situation being that the lad could hear them all...

  And even so, why...

Was it fully and utterly possible for all of them, one or the other, to merely take a break from all the riding and, perhaps as with Florian...

  To take a break...

Merely reading a book or something else of the sort.

Even so, did the young lad have the capacity to hear it all...

Why, should one stop, would the very carriage's movement slow just a bit, and the very grunts of Fren Chavalier grow just a bit more weary...

  Indeed.

Even so, did there remain but one comeuppance...

That being that the only one not allowed to stop riding...

Would verily be the very Fren Chavalier...

  For, indeed...

The foremost carriage was the one that gave direction...

And thereof, after what was a something of an hour of travel, did the very carriage run halt itself...

At the pulling of a string from Fren Chavalier...

Soon resulting in the carriages slowly coming to a halt.

  Indeed.

  However, and even so, why...

Did Fren Chavalier not come to take a rest...

  No...

Why, he simply opened his window to look outside, and thereof, why...

  Did he call...

Fren: Who has some more buck left in them?

And of the very same, why...

Was it Reginald Walterson who did immediately answer...

Reginald: I shall have a go at it.

  Indeed.

And of the very same, did both men exit their carriages...

Soon allowing themselves to switch places...

  Indeed.

Such was the way with the very carriages...

To run, switch and then run some more...

And as the very man did enter the carriage, why...

  Did he simply...

Reginald: My hat off to you, dear lad...

This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.

  Indeed.

  Greet Jake Phyr...

But to receive nothing of an answer from him...

  But a hand wave...

  Before preparing his grit...

And starting to get upon the "bicycle"...

Yes, well, I do suppose you do get the idea...

  Indeed.

The very travels through pathways, wooded areas and roots...

A few bumps here and there...

Always taking care to avoid massive puddles of mud...

  Indeed...

The very sort that you would imagine...

  Yes...

And of the very same, why...

  Did this process continue...

  Until the very same man...

The very Fren Chavalier finally find himself returned to his post...

  Indeed.

  And of it all, why...

  Did he...

Fren: Good to see you once more, my dear lad.

  Greet the young lad, before...

Fren: Why, would you like something to eat?

  Offering him a meal...

  Yes...

All with a smile as always, I would say...

Before the very lad did rise his head...

And with a very subtle gesture...

  Nod his head.

  Indeed.

Why, the very man, I should say...

Did oh-so ecstatically rush to his wares...

Pulling out a loaf of bread...

  And say...

Fren: We shall be needing to stop for a meal soon, however, you may partake of this bread in the meanwhile...

  Indeed.

  And of the bread, why...

Did the young lad only partake of a bit of it.

Piece after piece, before eventually downing a half of it...

As they all did decide to stop at yet another secluded area...

One not too far from the border of another town, before they could finally eat...

  Indeed.

  ...

'Twould waste far too much time to travel to a town without need.

However, make no mistake, 'tis for the very security of being near a town that travelling not too far from a city border is a mainstay in the plans of most travelling merchants...

  Indeed.

To take every advantage and to avoid every risk...

'Tis the way of the merchant, I would argue...

  And even so, why...

Would the very group requiring a meal have to cook it.

And well, I do suppose that I lack the requirement to explain as to why cooking from the inside of a carriage is so...

Well, how you say, 'tis simply asking for something terrible to happen...

  Yes.

Even so, did the very young lad hear the very carriage...

  ...

It reminds you of a train, you say?

  Hmmm...

  A train...

  Now...

Where have I heard that word...

  ...

  Now, now...

We shall keep all surprises for later...

  ...

  Well, of course...

Why, if I did explain every little detail of my life, why...

We would be here all day now wouldn't we?

  Indeed.

'Twould take far too much time to explain every little thing I say...

And therefore, must I choose to wait until the right moment strikes...

  Indeed...

When explaining it would take a mere matter of moments...

  Rather than several chapters...

To say nothing of the many questions you shall ask right afterwards...

  ...

  No, no, no...

Fail to concern yourself with such...

Why, I am not concerned with the very little things that you do ask me for...

Why, to explain things such as the colour of my very plumage...

  'Tis no bother.

  My very feathers are red...

  Indeed...

  And even so, why...

Are my powers of fire manipulation not merely to fire it out from my mouth or my claws...

  Nay...

Every single part of my body is fully capable of releasing flames...

And of the very same, can I control flames that even I have not started...

  Indeed.

That much is simple and easy...

However, that tale, my dear reader...

'Tis a book and perhaps a book more to explain...

  Indeed.

  ...

  A hint, you say...

  Hmmm...

  No, not now...

  ...

Why, I simply cannot think of one at the very moment...

  Hmmm...

  Let us see...

  Hmmm...

No, that would take far too much...

  Hmmm...

  No, no...

  That one also...

  Hmmm...

  No...

  I shall...

Simply wait until another time to tell you.

  ...

  Oh, very well...

When and if it does occur to me...

I shall state a hint of sorts...

It need not be too complicated, I would say...

  Indeed.

And of the very same, why...

  Shall I continue...

  Yes...

  A train...

Shall I not be so mistaken...

  Is it a...

  Hmmm...

No, I would rather you just told me.

  ...

  Hmmm...

  Why, I almost had it...

  However, indeed...

'Twould seem that I did know what a train was, at the very least in part...

  Yes...

And of the very same, I would say...

  I must go on.

  Ahem...

The very young lad was soon after cordially invited to their lunch party...

Where they would eat a very light meal of bread and a heavy meal of the very meat that Fren Chavalier packed...

  Yes...

'Twas quite a bit, I would say...

  Indeed...

Even so, did the very men and woman all ever so cautiously exit their carriages...

All for Fren Chavalier, who first of all...

Fren: Come young lad, 'tis time to eat...

Did invite the lad to the meal with open arms...

Asking him to leave the very room...

Which he did do, blade alongside him...

  Yes...

And of the very same, they all, seeing that all was well...

Decided to place a pot upon the ground and get to boiling as quickly and as hastily as possible...

  Indeed...

'Twould make little sense to spend more time there than necessary...

That was their very plan all these days...

  To cook quickly...

They all with their ears ready to search out the enemy at a moment's notice...

And of the very same, why...

Each with a weapon of sorts for any form of danger that they may well find.

  Indeed.

And thereof was a pot placed on the ground, meat prepared...

Why, I fail to find the need to explain this all to you.

  Indeed.

You do know how to cook meat, don't you?

  ...

  Indeed.

'Tis not so complicated, I would say...

  ...

  Why, but of course...

The very act of cooking is something I find myself most proficient at.

Why, should a butler of my own honour and prestige find himself incapable of cooking a proper banquet on his lonesome, why...

The very nerve I should carry to do such.

  ...

  Yes, I am a he...

  ...

  Dear reader, please...

Do keep such questions away from me...

'Tis most private what one does in one's spare time.

  Indeed.

  ...

  Yes, yes, very good then...

  ...

  Why, but of course...

Truly, I say unto you, my dear reader, truly...

Is the young lad a better cook than most...

  Indeed.

Why, the very boy did in fact learn all this from his mother...

  Yes...

A very pastime it was for the very pair of them...

  Indeed.

Why, I do believe that even and so as the very young lad watched them cook, all the while as...

Fren: Oh, come now, we require no weapons to defend ourselves, for...

Fren Chavalier did explain their lack of need for a proper weapon or defence or even an ear to the air, making sure nothing is after them...

For the very fact that the grand lad was by their side...

Did the young lad note that he could cook whatever they could cook much better than they all.

  Indeed.

Even so, would he fail to move a muscle to do so...

  Nay...

He would simply stand and wait, while they all replied...

  Reginald: Oh, but of course...

Victoria: Surely, what is wrong with me? It must be the weather.

Nancy: Oh, indeed. You must have it right.

Florian: Oh, I do understand, yes...

They all started to lower their guards...

  Indeed.

However, that would be to describe the very nature of the young lad's cooking to you, my dear reader.

Why, had he and his mother made it a sort of bonding moment, I would say.

  Indeed.

The very mother does indeed have a place in his heart...

Alongside every meal the very pair has cooked...

  Yes...

Be it strong animal or something as simple as potato...

  Indeed.

This boy has mastered it all...

  And of the very same...

  ...

  Hmmm?

  No, no, no...

  Why, ...

The very lad is not thinking about that now...

Why, at the very least in the sense that you suggest...

  No.

Why, I do suppose that it would make some sense for him to think about all those times...

  However, no...

That is not what is currently on his mind.

  Indeed.

And of the very same, why...

  Do I go on...

  Indeed.

The very cooking was a strange sort of scenario for them all...

Why, not merely for the appearance of one who was quite clearly a stranger to them all...

But also, for the very fact that the young lad was now their security...

'Tis a strange thing about humanity, I should say...

That they all become quite confused when things suddenly get easier...

  An odd thing, I say...

  An odd thing indeed.

  Even so, why...

  Were their preparations adequate...

Why, I do suppose that I failed to mention this earlier...

However, right before they did stop, did they make sure to set the carriage in such and such a way, that it surrounded them as they cooked...

  Indeed.

Best to stay safe, they would say...

And of the very same, did not a beast come after them throughout their meal...

  Indeed...

  Why...

Fren: I do suppose that we may as well eat here... all things considered...

  Yes, a most rare occasion...

For, most usually would they all find themselves returning to their carriages...

To feast from there, before returning...

  Indeed.

And of the very same, why...

  Reginald: Indeed.

  Nancy: Indubitably...

  Florian: Of course...

And finally, Victoria Hathaway, somewhat begrudgingly...

  Victoria: A good idea.

  Yes...

To finally eat while enjoying the freshness of the air...

Why, do say, my dear reader...

Have you at any time attempted such?

  ...

Why, the very thing, I say...

  You should try it.

  ...

  Too many insects, you say...

Why, the very idea, I say...

  Do fail to mind them...

For what are but a few insects in the battle against the very experience...

For, truly, I say unto you, dear reader, truly...

To sit and eat a meal in a place such as the very comfort of closed walls is to rob yourself of a most exquisite experience...

  Indeed.

  Even so, why...

  Must I go on.

  Yes...

They all, sat down, albeit finding it a bit odd...

All the same while partaking of their food...

The young lad, silent as ever...

  And all the same...

Reginald: Ah, the very roasted meat Fren, my good gentleman. Surely, you do sell only the best.

  Fren: Oh, ho, ho, ho...

  They both shared a laugh...

All the while Florian fed himself quietly...

  Merely observing...

  Rarely saying a word...

Reginald: And Madam Thornberry, why, your cooking skills have only improved.

Nancy: Oh, why thank you, Mr. Reginald.

And thereafter yet another laugh between friends...

All the while as silence took over but for a moment, before...

Reginald: Why, I do fail to remember the very last time we all ate like this.

  And, why...

I do suppose I shall simply carry on to the conversation...

Nancy: Oh, really, why... we did so in the very last town we visited.

Reginald: Indeed. However, why... ever since we bought this contraption, we have failed to feast upon our meals in the very grandness of the wilderness... just as we used to.

  Yes...

  Indeed.

Reginald: Why, those days, I say...

  Nancy: Indeed.

  Fren: Why, I do agree...

And thereafter, with a most sorrowful disposition...

Reginald: Oh, no, no, no... Fail to assume that I mean that I regret your decision to buy this machine. Why, it has saved us many a time.

Nancy: Indeed, Mr. Chavalier. Fail to worry. Why, for it have we been able to travel relatively safely for quite some time now.

  Reginald: Indeed.

  And thereof, why...

Fren: Oh, ho, ho... Fail to worry, I was not upset.

  Reginald: Oh, I see...

And yet once more, another laughter...

Before the very man did soon say...

Reginald: However, 'tis good to once more have this experience...

All while facing the young lad, whose face was now eating the very meat he was given...

Reginald: And for that I do thank you, my dear lad...

  And...

  ...

  Hmmm...

Time is up yet once more...

  Hmmm...

Well, I do suppose that that shall have to do for now.

Do take care, my dear reader...

  Do take care.

  Indeed.
