Chapter XVII – First week

The first week was almost over. After all that, she was completely worn out, and she wasn't the only one.

The amount of work was overwhelming. Thankfully, Sunday was surprisingly quiet, though not completely. In any case, she slept soundly for the first time this week. She even slept through breakfast, but it was worth it. Sunday was the only day of the week when she could rest.

I have to admit that the results are amazing. In just one week, I've made more progress than I probably would have in a whole month at home.

  She opened her profile.

A new category has appeared: Weapon Mastery.

It appeared shortly after she had her first spear lesson. It seemed that this category was progressing at the same rate as martial arts.

Speaking of which, she had also started learning her martial art: Water Knight Art, but she only mastered 1% of the beginner level so far. Learning it was much harder than she had thought, and on top of that, she didn't have much time.

At this rate, I won't be able to get out of the beginner category.

Either way, she still had plenty of time, and her progress was very fast, faster than anyone else in the school. In addition, lessons such as body cultivation allowed her to increase her strength stats.

She was currently on her way to the dean's office to collect her first monthly salary. It turned out that the sect was urgently looking for new talent, so they increased their financial support, especially for those who were considered geniuses.

Therefore, she was to receive the absurd amount of 300 mu every month. Only five other people received as much money as her.

This money could be spent in the school store, where various cultivation materials could be purchased at a good price. The prices here were much better than in her town.

She picked up her salary and headed to the store, where she immediately spent a third of it on a few pills and two potions.

“Wait, I don't understand. Why are you wasting your money in this shabby store? I admit the prices are not bad, but I can get things for even less. It's a waste of money.”

“You're right, but it would be suspicious if I didn't spend anything, so I'll spend some of the money so it doesn't look too suspicious. I'll keep the rest and save it.”

She bought muscle regeneration potions and pills that increased the rate of cultivation. Incidentally, these were the same ones she had initially sold through children in her town.

Then she went to her room and lay down on the bed. She needed to rest for a while. This week had been unusually tiring.

She began to think about what her plan was. She wanted to do so many things: start a business to make money, use her knowledge from her previous life to contribute to technological progress in this world, but in the end she realized that her main goal should be to become immortal. Then time would no longer be an issue for her, and she would have the opportunity to do whatever she wanted.

However, it will be difficult, since no one here has even heard of immortals. Although there are legends and fairy tales told to children at bedtime, no one has ever seen such people. Of course, it does not mean that they do not exist.

It was already three o'clock, so she went to have lunch. She skipped breakfast, so she was quite hungry. Unfortunately, the food wasn't very good. Right after eating, her only classes for the day began. Once again, it was Alchemy, followed by the basics of cultivation.

Although she didn't mind these lessons, she found them a little boring as they were too easy. She preferred more practical classes such as learning how to fight with weapons or martial arts. She found these much more exciting.

The basics of cultivation were just that: basics.

After class, the professor approached her.

  “May, can we talk?”

  “Yes, of course,” she replied.

“I've been thinking about this, and something was wrong... But tell me, how far away can you use Qi Sensing?”

Her skill had already reached the E+ rank. She felt that she was close to the D rank. Of all the basic cultivation techniques, this was the one she was most confident in.

It's amazing how much progress she's made since the beginning. Her father was at the ninth level of Qi Refinement, and his limit was about 2 meters. To put it simply, it wouldn't be wrong to say that, at least in terms of this technique, she was better than some people at the Foundation Establishment stage. The difference in talent was truly remarkable.

However, I wonder if I should tell the truth. Isn't this a bit of an exaggeration?

However, there is no point in hiding. She was already recognised as a genius, so drawing attention to herself will not change anything.

“My limit is about 3 meters.”

“Good heavens. In the whole Academy, I think there are only a few professors who could match you in this regard, even though they are a whole realm above you.”

The professor smiled. In fact, she had learned one more trick related to Qi Sensing, but she decided not to reveal it. For now, she decided to keep it to herself.

“I saw that you were bored in class. Now I'm not surprised. That academy really isn't enough for your skills. Don't be offended, but you're a monster in the true sense of the word.”

“Those are pretty strong words,” she thought, though she secretly knew that he was probably right. The system she had was the biggest scam in this world.

“However, you must know that the world is a big place. So don’t be too arrogant. If someone here reaches the Foundation Establishment stage before the age of 30, they are recognized as a genius, but in the north of our continent, they would be considered a completely mediocre. Meanwhile, on the primordial continents, they would be considered trash with no talent. Remember that.”

She was intrigued by what he said. Although she had heard the name “primordial continents” before, she didn't know much about them. No one in her family knew much about them either. Her knowledge was limited to the fact that the continent they lived on was a kind of overseas colony. At least it had been in the past.

"Could you tell me more about these primordial continents. I've always been curious about them, but hardly anyone knows anything about them."

"You will learn about them in history in the future... But I guess it won't hurt to tell you a little. You are aware that there are cultivators and mages in this world, but besides them, there are also Beast Masters." He started. She didn't know that there was a third group beside mages and cultivators.

"Each of these groups has its own unique system of magic. Originally, each of them lived on separate continents, which are now referred to as 'primordial continents'. These are the three largest areas of this world. After all the elves had been killed, the three continents rushed to the remaining parts of the world and tried to conquer them. Our continent was originally colonized by one of these so-called primordial continents, which belonged to the cultivators."

"So we are not originally from this continent?"

“No. We are descendants of people from the continent of Xian. However, we currently have no connection to them. At least not in our part of the region.”

“How big are these continents? Why were the elves killed?”

“I'm sorry, but I don't know much about that myself. We don't have much information. We stopped being a colony at least a million years ago, and history becomes very muddled over such a long period of time.”

She didn't expect to find out much anyway. The professor seemed to be in a rush, so she didn't want to take up any more of his time.

However, my talent really is exaggerated. I wonder if I should pretend to be a little weaker then I actually am from now on.

After a moment, however, she dismissed that thought. She should be relatively safe within the walls of the Academy. Unlike Pualin Town, where she lived and where there was only one person at the Foundation Establishment stage (the town leader), here at the academy there were many people at that stage who had been sent here by the Inner Court headquarters.

Although the Eastern Outer Court was considered second-rate, there were still at least a few people at the Foundation Establishment stage just in the Academy. And many more guarding the Capital of Eastern Outer Court. So she was safe here, and the risk of someone attacking them here was rather low.

“What did you talk to the professor about? Senlin asked curiously.

“Nothing in particular. He just wanted to ask me something.” She replied simply.

“By the way, have you heard anything about the event next week? The one that might give us some free time? Senlin asked.

“We've only been here a week and you're already thinking about taking time off?” she replied, although in truth she herself would have liked to rest for a while. She never expected to be so tired after only a week of study.

Life at the Academy wasn't just about memorizing information, but also about hard physical work, endless training, sweat, and tears. That's why when she heard about it, she immediately wanted to know more.

  “Tell me more.”

“Next week, one of the most important person in the city is organizing a event. Apparently, he wants to invite a few new students to his residence.”

“But why?” It sounded very suspicious to her.

"Apparently, it's a tradition. In any case, a few people will be lucky enough to spend a few nights in some big shot's super comfortable mansion."

“And what are we supposed to do there?”

"Look good. Okay, im just kidding. Actually, they want us to fight with each other. Apparently, some bigwigs from the city like to watch kids beat each other up. They say that children always fight best because they don't know any boundaries and blood flows like rain from a gutter. It's crazy. At least that's what I've heard from others, but I don't know if it's true. But if it means I get a moment of rest, I'm in." She said.

“How can you sign up for that?” Even if she had to fight someone there, she didn’t have anything against it. A little experience would be good for her, as well as some free time.

“Do you really think you can just sign up for something like that? Ask Izzy. Apparently she has some connections.”

  “Who the fuck is Izzy?”

"Hey, hey, don't use such vulgar language. What kind of place did you grow up in? Anyway, Izzy is the daughter of some mage, or something, but she's being raised to be a cultivator. Anyway, she's lived in the capital since she was a child and has a lot of connections. Talk to her and maybe you'll have some luck. You're popular, after all. You can also mention me, by the way. I would also love to get out of here."

“And where can I meet this Izzy?”

“She's in the same year as us, but she's in class C, so no one in our group has much contact with her. But I think if you talk to her, she'll definitely agree.”

"All right, I'll see what I can do."
