Already happened story > Spheroid Echoes: On the disturbing discoveries made on Basteira beach > II

II

Event period: from 27 to 31 May 2016

They are already in my posession! They are five red plastic folders which, from what they have been explaining to me, divide the finds into coastal arcs. Namely: Cantabrian, ártabro, Finisterrae, Rías Baixas and the Miniano Duriense (i.e., from the mouth of the Minho River to the Duero river).

Without having done any further research and based on what I already have, I would bet that, if there are any peat bogs, they will be in places where water can be retained for long enough to create the wetlands needed as a basis for generating a peat bog. In fact, the map I have shows peat bogs near the coast, especially in the Serra do Barbanza, Monte da Groba and Monte Gali?eiro, although there are also peat bogs in the Serra da Capelada[1]. For this reason, I think I will break down the subject from the Miniano Duriense arc that borders with Portugal, and from there I will go up the coast until I reach the Cantabrian arc, which borders with the coast of Asturias. In this way, I will cover everything (because there are few sheets) starting with the most probable areas.

However, first I would like to finish with the municipalities of the Pontevedra region that I am working on. When I finish, I’ll jump to these folders, and I must say that I’ll be a bit grateful for it, because, at least, I’ll change the subject matter a bit. I’ll keep you updated.

[1] From what I have been able to find, I think Enoch is referring to the map shown in figure 2.2, page 34, of the book Peatlands of Galicia.
