  Well dude, my theories need to undergo yet another revision. I don’t know what the heck I have here, but the shape is not elongated, like a ship, but circular, and with a slight bump. No, not oval, not spheroid, not oblong... No, a perfect circle formed by identical square plates, no matter which way you measure it: the circle is exactly four metres in diameter across. I find incredible that these remains have endured all this time with no deformation or looting.

  At this point I don’t know what to think. I’m so desperate to find parallels I’m considering far-fetched options such as that it might be an old diving bell of which only the metal parts remain (which is strange, since as a peat bog, the remains of wood should have been preserved), that it might be the hoops of a barrel or a cask, or even that it might be some imitation or local attempt at something similar to John Lethbridge’s diving machine, which looked like a barrel. Don’t take me too seriously though these are just crazy theories I’ve come up with from looking at things slightly similar on the internet, and, since I can’t really or rather wouldn’t want to dig any further down, it’s up to me to speculate wildly.

  On the other hand, there’s always the possibility that whatever I’m seeing is natural. Frankly, I’d be surprised to discover that nature can make such... Unnatural formations? But we have seen stranger things, I suppose. So, just in case, I’m going to ask a colleague who is studying Biology, and see what he can tell me. He’s not a geologist, but it’s better than nothing and, given that there is mutual trust, I can dodge the questions about where I found what I’m sending in the photos.

  Also, although I’m not very convinced by the idea, I’m going to post the photos on antique dealers, archaeologists and collectors’ forums, to see what opinions I can get. It is that (trying to come up with a foreign idea that hadn’t even crossed my mind) or just going around trying to come up with more and more bizarre theories.

  We’ll see what come out of it.
