Humanity's Last Stand?: Trials of Survival

  Our lives seemingly stopped that day as enormous floating islands appeared above the world's largest cities. I remember being in a classroom at the time, and everyone stopped and looked out the windows. Some believed it was the end of the world, while others, like me, sought scientific explanations. As my mind began to wrap around what was happening, memories of a passage in our textbook came to mind. It talked about artifacts discovered across the world and how, when pieced together, they told a story of humanity's greatest trial and ultimate failure, leading to the planet's destruction and reformation. As the terrifying idea of these artifacts being true took hold, I was transported to the top of one of these floating islands along with nine other individuals. At first, we all spoke different languages, but after an entity shrouded in darkness appeared and waved his hand, all our languages became unified. He explained simply that humanity had two years to ascend to the top of every tower placed on each of the floating islands spread across the regions of the world, each possessing 365 levels filled with monsters and other entities. If humanity succeeded, they would be allowed to return to their current lives, but if they failed again, the Earth would be destroyed and reformed once again.
