Chapter 29.9: The Great War: Fire Fox and the Giant Three-Headed Dog

  1. The Secret School Beneath the Ground

  2.

H?u Thành Danh and Doanh Th??ng Quan were invited to serve as teachers for Prince Chau Ng?c T?. Neither held an official title, and they taught in a small school located behind the second wall. Besides the Prince, the other students were specially selected by the Shadow Corps (ám B? Quan) from noble families with good innate talent.

These families all wished for the Prince to become the future King, with their descendants serving as officials and generals. However, the true significance of this small school was a secret, known only to a few individuals within the powerful noble clans.

Phong Tr?n gave special preference to the school's kitchen, supplying a complete set of nutritious ingredients that boosted intellect, wisdom, and physical attributes—nothing was lacking, but everything was disguised as common dishes: stir-fried vegetables, stir-fried meat, and sweet soup. The two teachers were even more favored; H?u Thành Danh's spiritual beast, the Three-Tailed Fire Fox (H?a H? Tam V?), was gifted a Fire Pill Fruit (H?a ?an Qu?), a fruit that helps break through to the Golden Core (K?t ?an) stage. Everyone else also received their fair share.

To ensure the safety of Prince Chau Ng?c T?, before descending into the underground city, all students at the school were required to switch their uniforms to the precious royal clothing of the Chau Ng?c Kingdom. The knowing members of the noble families, upon seeing the valuable royal uniform, understood that the day had arrived. They instructed their children to be ready to sacrifice themselves if the Prince was in danger, and their farewells were no different from a life-or-death separation.

  1. The Appearance of the Fire Wolf General

  2.

While Phong Tr?n was going to the surface to deliver a letter, the Fire Wolf General (H?a Lang T??ng) appeared near the Underground City with his Fire Wolf Army (H?a Lang Quan). Wherever he went, he burned and slaughtered, leaving no living creature behind. The Fire Wolf Flying Sword (H?a Lang Phi Ki?m) was an extremely bloodthirsty killer artifact; when given freedom by the Fire Wolf General, it killed non-stop. It abruptly appeared at a distance from where Prince Chau Ng?c T? was located, sensing a difference in his bloodline. It immediately returned to report to the Fire Wolf General.

The Fire Wolf Army was immediately mobilized, with a force of up to twenty thousand men. However, due to the narrow tunnels, only a few hundred could be deployed at a time. The Flying Sword circled and suddenly attacked. This time, its goal was not to kill but to kidnap. But just as it neared the Prince, Doanh Th??ng Quan, wielding the Fire Spirit Sword (H?a Linh Ki?m), leaped forward and knocked it away. Because the distance to the Fire Wolf General was too great, the Flying Sword was significantly weakened. Realizing it could not win, it retreated. Immediately after, hundreds of Fire Wolf soldiers appeared, and the Shadow Corps instantly intercepted.

Everyone around the Prince’s house was surprised, wondering why the Fire Wolf General discovered the Prince so quickly. They had just heard news of his arrival at the entrance of the underground city, yet the Flying Sword had arrived first and led hundreds of soldiers with it.

  1. Doanh Th??ng Quan's Flashback and Teacher Noe's Lesson

  2.

While everyone was at a loss, Doanh Th??ng Quan fell into a flashback about the time before he was trained by Noe.

Teacher Noe said: "You have the Three Spirit Root (Tam Linh C?n), and you can use basic spells. But this is a poor Spirit Root; it cannot compare to others, not to mention your two older brothers are geniuses with the One Spirit Root and Two Spirit Root."

Doanh Th??ng quan sadly asked: "So, no matter how hard I try, it won't be enough? Will I forever be a loser?"

Noe smiled and said: "Let me explain. Spirit Root is the term used by Immortal Cultivators (Tiên tu). A higher Spirit Root makes Immortal Cultivation easier, but combat strength is not guaranteed."

Doanh Th??ng Quan muttered sadly: "I know, Teacher, you are just trying to comfort me."

Noe patted his young student's head and said: "Immortal Cultivation is not for strength; Immortal Cultivation is for longevity. For example, a person who reaches the Foundation Establishment (Trúc C?) stage can live for 200 years, Golden Core (K?t ?an) for 500 years, and Nascent Soul (Nguyên Anh) for about 2000 years. Therefore, most who follow the path of Immortal Cultivation will not have much combat power."

Doanh Th??ng quan asked: "Then, Teacher, you are a True Immortal (Chan Tiên). How old can you live to be?"

Noe laughed: "I am not a True Immortal; I am a Sunlight Immortal (Tiên ánh)—my entire body glows like the sun. I am an Elf Immortal (Tiên Elf), a human-like immortal; our lifespan is about 1000 years. I don't need any cultivation to live to that age."

Doanh Th??ng Quan smiled brightly and said: "I see! Teacher, you are naturally long-lived, which is why you are lazy and sleep all day."

Noe frowned and said: "I cultivate in a different way, through the Dream Realm. I am not as lazy as you think. Now, focus on the main point: focus on the power of the spirit."

Noe picked up a red-hot sword and told Doanh Th??ng Quan to cover his eyes. Noe put the red-hot sword away, took a normal, cold iron sword, and lightly touched Doanh Th??ng Quan's hand. The boy immediately jumped up, screaming: "AAA, are you trying to kill me?" His hand was burned, and the skin wrinkled, despite not touching any fire.

But when he uncovered his eyes, he saw only a normal sword in Noe's hand. The guards around them also found the burned arm strange. He asked: "What does this mean, Teacher?"

Noe smiled and said: "This is the power of the spirit, the Nocebo Effect (Hi?u ?ng Ph?n Gi? D??c). If you believe something will happen, it will happen to your body. You only need to manipulate the thoughts of others. Whatever you want them to suffer, they will suffer."

  1. Plan A, B, and the Prince's Surprise

  2.

Doanh Th??ng Quan was pondering, recalling the past, when Noe mentally transmitted directly into his head: "Plan A begins." The others also received Noe's message. H?u Thành Danh and the Three-Tailed Fire Fox immediately moved, seeking the Fire Wolf General for a showdown. They intentionally let the Flying Sword fly away before attacking. Doanh Th??ng Quan switched to a defensive stance and told the Prince: "Prince, follow Heavenly Master Tr??ng and the White Tiger Beastman. They will protect you."

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

But the Prince absolutely refused, saying: "No, I am not going anywhere. The safest place is beside Teacher." Doanh Th??ng Quan was moved and immediately transmitted to Noe: "Switch to Plan B."

Noe announced to the others: "Switch to Plan B. Doanh Th??ng Quan is the center; focus on protecting him and the Prince."

  1. Subduing the Fire Wolf Flying Sword

  2.

At this moment, the Fire Wolf Flying Sword had arrived with another Fire Wolf Army unit. Doanh Th??ng Quan immediately leaped forward to suppress the Flying Sword, continuously using his spiritual power to attack the Flying Sword with a Frost Aura (Hào Quang S??ng Giá), completely altering its senses. The surroundings seemed to freeze, slowing the sword and gradually encasing it in ice. It felt its connection to its master weakening, but it fought bravely. Finally, in its mind, it saw itself frozen, then falling into a bottomless abyss. Immediately, its link with the Fire Wolf General vanished. The Flying Sword fell to the ground, becoming an ordinary sword.

Doanh Th??ng Quan handed the Flying Sword to Heavenly Master Tr??ng. He immediately wrapped the Flying Sword with dozens of talismans, then stood on a river created by thousands of connected talismans, flying toward the pre-arranged Six Paths Six Harmonious Formation (Tr?n Pháp L?c ??o L?c H?p Tr?n) to capture and kill the Fire Wolf General.

  1. Cutting a Bloody Path and the Non-Humans' Battle

  2.

The Prince followed Doanh Th??ng Quan and the others along a different path to escape outside. The Fire Wolf Army, seeing this, split into two: one side tracked Heavenly Master Tr??ng and the White Tiger, while the other followed the Prince's group. However, they did not know exactly who the Prince was, as hundreds of people were wearing the same clothing, so they decided to capture everyone.

Upon reaching a locked alley, the Southern Barbarian (Nam Man) Non-Human members charged forward to open the path. The Ratman Sword Master (B?c Th?y Ki?m ??o Ng??i Chu?t), with graceful swordsmanship, weaved through the ranks of the Fire Wolf soldiers; every strike was quick and clean, eliminating dozens of soldiers. The Lizardman (Ng??i Th?n L?n), wielding a spear and shield, his entire body covered in dragon-like scales where blades struck like hitting metal, became an iron wall blocking the advance of a thousand soldiers due to the narrow tunnel. The One-Eyed Giant (Ng??i Kh?ng L? M?t M?t) used a large rock to block the movement of the Fire Wolf Army. The Three Long-Arm Brothers were highly useful, continuously supporting each other to repel the enemy, cutting a bloody path for Doanh Th??ng Quan and the Prince to move. Doanh Th??ng Quan continuously used Frost Aura, slowing all the Fire Wolf soldiers.

  1. Fire Wolf General vs. Three-Tailed Fire Fox

  2.

The Fire Wolf General, suddenly attacked by the Six-Tailed Giant Fire Fox (H?a H? Kh?ng L? Sáu ?u?i) (H?u Thành Danh's spiritual beast), laughed heartily: "Haha, finally something interesting!" It launched a surprise Hyper-Thermal Fire Fox Ray (H?a H? C?c Nhi?t), an extremely hot energy beam. The Fire Wolf General was burned in many places by the hyper-thermal ray but did not seem bothered; instead, he laughed delightedly—a terrifying smile. He then charged forward, simultaneously transforming into the Gigantic Three-Headed Dog (Chó Ba ??u Kh?ng L?), continuously snapping at the giant Fox.

H?u Thành Danh, hiding in a corner, controlled Fire Spirit Orbs (H?a Linh C?u) to coordinate with the Fox in attacking the Fire Wolf General. The Six-Tailed Giant Fire Fox used its six tails like binding ropes, wrapping around the three dog heads and legs, preventing the Fire Wolf General from leaving. The goal was to allow Doanh Th??ng Quan to complete the task of subduing the Flying Sword.

H?u Thành Danh and the Three-Tailed Fire Fox (H?a H? Tam V?) had trained together for a long time, leading to excellent mutual understanding. The Three-Tailed Fire Fox possessed the One Spirit Root (Nh?t Linh C?n) of the Fire Element, focusing on the path of a fire mage, maximizing Intelligence (INT = 300) to achieve a breakthrough in fire damage. H?u Thành Danh only had the Three Spirit Root (Tam Linh C?n), following the path of magic support, maximizing Fire Knowledge (KNO = 300). Thanks to this, he had abundant Mana (MP/Mana) resources and the ability to create powerful energy shields, capable of transferring energy and shields to the Fire Fox for combat via their link.

H?u Thành Danh himself also had the special ability of Transformation similar to the Fire Fox, becoming a Six-Tailed Giant Fire Fox, but only for a short time.

When the Fire Fox and the Fire Wolf General (H?a Lang T??ng) were engaged in close combat, H?u Thành Danh stood in a hidden corner and began to transform. His body grew as tall as a five-story house, but he only grew one tail, and immediately all his stats soared (+10%). The Fire Spirit Orb (H?a Linh C?u) in his hand instantly shone brightly and grew unusually large. It immediately flew out, violently striking the head of the Fire Wolf General who was transforming into the Gigantic Three-Headed Dog.

H?u Thành Danh, in his giant form, attacked the opponent's back with claws enveloped in a Potent Golden Flame (Vu?t H?a H? - Fire Fox Claw), tearing a large chunk of flesh from the Fire Wolf General's body. When the transformation time limit expired, he immediately fled, continuously using recovery potions.

The Fire Wolf General possessed a robust physique due to dedicated body cultivation, and his Vitality (VIT) was extremely high (VIT = 300). He had abundant blood/vitality, and his flesh was tough, no less than dragon scales. This cultivation method was the key that allowed his Transformation spell to become powerful and grow exponentially, enabling him to sustain a state of enhanced power and physical attributes by one rank. Furthermore, he belonged to the Dog-headed Beastman race (dog head, human body), possessing an innate ability for extremely powerful regeneration. Combined with his training, he was almost invincible and extremely difficult to kill.

The opponent launched extremely powerful spells, sometimes crushing one of his three heads in his giant form, but they could not finish him off, and he gradually recovered to his original state.

The Fire Wolf General constantly dealt with fire, so he had very high fire resistance. Therefore, the opponent's fire spells could barely harm him. But his fire was different. This flame was named Black Fire (H?c H?a), also called Hidden Fire (?n H?a) because it was nearly invisible in the dim, semi-lit environment of the caves. Black Fire had a relatively low initial damage—the lowest among all fires—but in return, it was a persistent flame that burned endlessly, sometimes for days or weeks, seeping into the opponent's body, slowly incinerating and weakening them from within.

Hidden Fire was an exceptionally good tactic against enduring and tough-skinned fighters like the Fire Wolf General. This flame also permeated the Fire Wolf General's own body, but instead of harming him, it enhanced his power; the longer he fought, the greater the strength of the Three-Headed Dog. Initially, he was at a disadvantage, but the longer he fought, the fiercer he became. The Fire Wolf General was about to play with his opponent a bit more before finishing him off, but suddenly, his powerful offensive weapon was in danger: it weakened, weakened, and then lost connection. The news transmitted back was a chilling and fearful sensation.

A short while later, the Fire Wolf General sensed the loss of connection with his Flying Sword and became enraged. He bit off one of the Fox's legs and broke free, following the Flying Sword's signal and escaping. The Fox reverted to its small form, its severed leg bleeding, and it fell unconscious. H?u Thành Danh rushed down, picked up the Fox, and fled, escaping the Fire Wolf Army's encirclement. Throughout the process, the Shadow Corps continuously appeared to provide support; otherwise, they would have been annihilated by the Fire Wolf Army long ago.
