chapter 26.4: B-Rank Mission: The Demonic Gate Disaster

  1. The Immortals' Burden and the Builder Trung Hau ??

  2.

When it was time for the Profound Ice Sect to recruit, Han Thuong ????? remembered Trung Hau and went to the village to find the boy. However, the Elder, weeping, said that the Chau Ngoc Kingdom's court had taken the boy for construction work ??. Han Thuong was helpless, not knowing where to find him. The Chau Ngoc Kingdom's court was no longer friendly towards the Cultivation Sects as before, often creating obstacles. Yet, whenever there was an incident with demons or wicked spirits, they demanded the Immortals take responsibility and solve it without a single word of thanks ??.

On another occasion, Han Thuong was assigned a mission with Han Trung Bao. This time it was a massive, high-difficulty mission (C+ rank), mobilizing Five major cultivation sects and many minor ones to resolve it. The incident occurred at a colossal construction site where tens of thousands of people were working, including giants and ancient humanoids 7-8 meters tall performing heavy labor.

Furthermore, Necromancers (Demonic Cultivators) controlled corpses to continue working, including regular human corpses and giant corpses. When the bodies were soft and their bones nearly disintegrated, Demon Cultivators and Ghost Cultivators would step in, utilizing every resource to the maximum. Next, the Ghost Cultivators would use the piles of bones and flesh to summon Red Demons ?? from another world through ancient forbidden magic, forcing them once again into labor and construction.

  1. The Uprising and The Moral Challenge ??

  2.

However, an incident occurred: the Demon Cultivators and Ghost Cultivators rebelled and attacked the imperial army because they, too, were forced to sign dreadful pacts with demons and gained nothing; they were miserable and unfairly treated. They rose up against the imperial army, while other workers fled, creating an unprecedented scene of chaos.

The invited Immortals were also enraged because the laborers here were treated worse than slaves. The stench of death was everywhere; piles of corpses accumulated, sickeningly putrid ??. All rules regarding respect for the deceased's soul, normal burial, or interment methods were ignored. They were furious at the working conditions but were unsure what to do.

Should they help the Demon Cultivators and Ghost Cultivators kill the guards to let the workers escape? Or should they eliminate these crazed Demon and Ghost Cultivators, only to watch the soldiers force the workers back to their labor?

This very hesitation and delay prevented the workers from escaping in time, leading to them being infected and turning into zombies or being possessed by demons from the other world. This process happened too quickly. Within just a few days, the cultivators, sorcerers, and demon-slaying masters reacted too slowly because the imperial soldiers and local mandarins continuously submitted false reports, concealing the truth to gain praise and avoid punishment. These rigid rules only made the situation worse.

When the matter escalated beyond control, the entire construction site was infected. Even the soldiers guarding the construction site turned into zombies or demons. The project's gate was opened, and the zombies and demons flooded the entire city ???♂?. All the Immortals, sorcerers, and demon-slaying masters in the city simultaneously shot flares into the sky, creating a scene like a grand, colorful festival. Still, this was a sign of a major disaster. The mission was instantly upgraded from C+ to B-rank, a disaster with the potential to destroy a city.

Support forces outside the city began to act. Elite forces from sects within a hundred-mile radius were assembled. These were the Foundation Establishment and Super Immortal experts of the sects, along with a few knowledgeable Elders called upon to assess the situation. The Qi Refining and Mortal Immortal cultivators were called out of the city, rescuing anyone they could, or hiding if they couldn't escape. Their main purpose was to report information to the high-ranking commanders outside.

If only Ghost Generals or Demon Generals appeared, the support team could still handle it. But if a Demon King or Ghost King appeared, the mission would have to be upgraded to A-rank, a disaster for a minor kingdom. Everyone would immediately retreat, hoping that the Grand Elders or the Sect Masters themselves would arrive to resolve it.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

  1. Reunion in Chaos and Han Thuong's Kindness ??

  2.

Han Thuong, along with many others, was trapped in the city; the earlier team members went in different directions. While retreating, Han Thuong saw an acquaintance, Trung Hau, the young man Han Thuong wanted to accept into the Profound Ice Sect. The boy was controlling a group of zombies, protecting himself and preventing the surrounding zombies from attacking him. Han Thuong didn't hesitate, charging straight into the swarm of zombies, destroying them, and pulling Trung Hau out. The boy was extremely happy to see Han Thuong, repeatedly saying, "Thank you, thank you, Immortal ??."

Han Thuong led the boy to a corner and asked, "How have you been living all this time?"

The boy burst into tears in front of Han Thuong, lamenting his hardship. He was forced to come here, compelled to learn corpse-controlling magic to aid in construction, not eating enough to be full or drinking enough to quench his thirst. Han Thuong was moved, hugged the boy, patted his head, and said, "I'm here now. You won't suffer anymore."

Han Thuong saw the boy was starving, just skin and bones, and took out some food, water, and some energy pills. Finally, he gave Trung Hau a Profound Ice Sect uniform: "Wear this. The allies of the Profound Ice Sect will help you."

Immediately after, a swarm of zombies rushed towards them. Han Thuong immediately used the Ice Wall spell ?? to block their path and shouted, "Trung Hau, run now! If we both survive this, we will meet again!"

Han Thuong lowered the ice wall to be level with their heads and started hacking off the heads of the corpses one by one ??. Trung Hau bowed and ran off in another direction. Han Thuong continually pressed forward, then retreated until he completely lost sight of Trung Hau. He met Hoa Minh ?? and Tho Trung Sa. Seeing the situation, the three decided to run towards the city gate.

  1. Breaking the Siege and Timely Rescue ??

  2.

The Immortals inside the city had to fight exhaustedly. The initial situation replayed itself: the gate guards absolutely refused to open the gates, blocking the army outside, while the survivors stood frantically banging on the doors.

Those with authority didn't know what to do, fearing responsibility. The more they hesitated, the more people were infected by the zombie poison and demonic possession. Han Thuong, Tho Trung Sa, and Hoa Minh agreed. They ran up to the city gate and attacked the guards, forcing them to open the gate for the army outside to charge in and for the citizens to escape. The Cultivators outside, seeing someone take the lead, began sounding horns to summon all their disciples and open the remaining gates.

They set up areas to purify Demonic Qi and Ghost Qi for those who escaped. Meanwhile, the most powerful individuals flew straight into the city from the start to find the gate connecting to the ghost world, preventing it from widening further and stopping the Ghost King from entering this world.

Han Thuong, Hoa Minh, and Tho Trung Sa were surrounded by layers of ghosts and demons; their energy was draining. Just as the ghosts and demons rushed in, ready to devour them, a roar of the White Tiger King ?? shook the entire area. The ghosts and demons were immobilized for a moment.

When the three woke up, they found themselves suspended in the air, supported by dozens of yellow Talismans ??. They looked up and saw Vong Tran ? in a yellow Daoist robe, standing on a river formed by hundreds and thousands of Yellow Talismans. Below, the 10-meter-tall White Tiger King continually roared and attacked the zombies to escape the area. Vong Tran saw the three were awake and said, "You three are too reckless; you didn't even wait for me ??."

Vong Tran turned towards the White Tiger King, transforming the thousands of Yellow Talismans into stairs for the White Tiger King to climb. The group looked at each other and laughed happily, having narrowly escaped disaster.

The Buddhist and Divine paths from various regions were mobilized, coordinating with the cultivators to resolve the demons and wicked spirits here. More than one-third of the city's population was saved from Demonic Qi and Ghost Qi, one-third escaped the city in time, and one-third were poisoned to the heart, dying that same day, and were killed and cremated to prevent the spread of the plague.
