Chapter 29.3: Nen(Focused Intent), the power of the Creator God

After successfully achieving the Foundation Establishment (Trúc C?) breakthrough, Th? Trung Sa felt a heavy burden on his heart, indebted to Hàn Th??ng and Noe. He was a person of integrity; whoever showed him kindness, he had to repay. This became his motivation for cultivation, not for self-preservation, but for the protection of others. He was an orphan raised by M?c Tiên (Wood Immortal), who introduced him to the Post-Earth Indestructible Sect (H?u Th? B?t Di?t Phái). Due to a lack of familial affection, his personality became quiet and withdrawn, making him disliked by many. Consequently, he had few friends, but those who considered him a friend, he regarded as family, fostering an Obsessive Intent (Ch?p Ni?m) to protect them.

Nen (Focused Intent) and Created Spirits

Nen (Ni?m), or Obsessive Intent, is mostly born from emotion. In the cultivation world, it is not merely a thought or idea, but a form of energy, also known as Nen Power (Ni?m L?c).

  • Aura of Intent (Sinh Ni?m Quang ?oàn) is also called Faith Power (Tín Ng??ng L?c) or Collective Nen (Ni?m T?p Th?).

  •
  • Spirit Initiation/Enlightenment (Kh?i Linh/Khai Quang): Under specific conditions, with a sufficiently large amount of merit, this Intent can form a Spirit or a Living Intent (Ni?m S?ng). This method is called Spirit Initiation or Enlightenment (Khai Quang ?i?m Nh?n).

  •
  • A Living Intent will take the appearance of its creator, the vessel containing it, or a shape defined by the one performing the Spirit Initiation.

  •
  • Created Spirits (Linh Nhan T?o) have no emotions, being purely rational and serving the initial purpose they were established for. Even if the initiator dies, the Created Spirit will still exist, sometimes becoming even stronger than before.

  •

The Living Intent/Created Spirit makes no distinction between good and evil, depending entirely on the purpose of its creator. It differs from Natural Spirits which are created by Deities. Th? Trung Sa’s Obsessive Intent was to protect his friends, so he created Protective Intents. However, the newly born Intent was very weak and needed a dwelling, so he placed it into the Post-Earth Elemental Sand Ring (H?u Th? S? Sa Hoàn)—a wide bracelet embedded with many Spirit Stones to nurture the Created Spirit.

Subsequently, Th? Trung Sa continuously repeated the spell to create a sword-and-shield-wielding Sand Elemental (Ng??i Cát) until the Created Spirit memorized the pattern.

Note: This differs from Collective Nen which takes distorted forms because everyone visualizes it differently (e.g., National Intent - the nation's protective beast, Company Intent - company culture, Family Intent - family rules). This is a very rare creative ability. Th? Trung Sa was unaware of his own distinctiveness; his Nen was a thousand times stronger than others, which is why he was able to perform Enlightenment.

  ??? Rescue and Ambush Tactics

Th? Trung Sa erected two statues near the homes of the people he needed to save, right next to the underground bunker he prepared. He instructed them: “When danger strikes, run to these two statues; they will protect you.” But no one listened.

When the incident occurred and the Lang Army besieged their homes, rushing inside, they ran aimlessly. At that time, wherever they ran, they were blocked by the Lang Army—they would be captured regardless.

Th? Trung Sa knew they did not trust him because he was an ancient tribesman from the Northern Di region. He was not angry but patiently went to rescue each person, urging them into the bunker he had prepared.

Th? Trung Sa used the map to observe, appearing only when he reached an area safe from any red or orange dots. He thrust out two palms, and two gigantic Sand Hands appeared, knocking away the two soldiers in front of him with the skill Dual-Hand Golden Sand (Song Th? Kim Sa).

The two hands subdued the two soldiers and immediately attacked the nearest soldier. The two hands combined like a giant nose-clip, crushing the soldiers to death with every strike. The soldiers panicked and ran, shouting for reinforcements.

Th? Trung Sa yelled at the people there: “Go home and hide in the bunker immediately!” It was then that they remembered the basement Th? Trung Sa had built for them. They quickly bowed in gratitude and ran away.

The Lang Army’s elite force arrived, consisting of 10 Qi Condensation (Luy?n Khí) soldiers, who threw fireballs and ice arrows towards Th? Trung Sa. Behind them, a Foundation Establishment (Trúc C?) commander stood on a flying boat, gliding towards the scene. Th? Trung Sa wanted to lure them in to buy more time for the others to escape, so he stayed and fought. Continuous Sand Hands were launched, pushing back the Qi Condensation soldiers.

However, the Foundation Establishment commander on the flying boat immediately launched Fire Flying Swords (H?a Phi Ki?m); their speed was extremely fast. Th? Trung Sa quickly erected 5 Sand Walls, but all were destroyed. Th? Trung Sa then used his newly learned (Earth Evasion) skill, a Foundation Establishment-grade spell. As soon as the spell was activated, the ground beneath him instantly turned into empty space, allowing him to leap a great distance away.

The commander on the flying boat immediately gave chase, and the Fire Flying Swords relentlessly followed.

  ?? Fateful Confrontation

Th? Trung Sa had the map in hand, making it easy for him to find a suitable location to ambush his opponent. The Qi Condensation soldiers were too slow to keep up with the two Foundation Establishment cultivators. Eventually, they reached an abandoned house, which already had a concealing barrier, hiding them from external view.

Th? Trung Sa summoned his strongest ultimate skill, the Sand Elemental (Ng??i Cát), to fight the Fire Flying Swords, but it could not withstand them. Many Flying Swords accurately struck the bracelet, destroying the Sand Elemental. Both continuously expended their energy fighting each other, but Th? Trung Sa's energy was still abundant. Because he was standing on the ground, energy was constantly replenished from the earth.

Th? Trung Sa's Spirit Control Art (Ng? Linh Thu?t) had a distinct advantage over his opponent’s Sword Control Art (Ng? Ki?m):

  • His Elementals were Created Spirits (Linh Nhan T?o), Living Intents that could operate independently.

  •
  • The opponent's Flying Swords were ordinary objects that the controller had to fully exert themselves to manipulate. When controlling them, the opponent had to stand still and maintain line of sight to attack.

  •

Th? Trung Sa continuously erected walls, drastically reducing the opponent's visibility, thus decreasing the opponent's attack power.

Th? Trung Sa saw that his opponent was running low on energy and preparing to retreat, as his Energy Shield was fading. He used Earth Evasion to quickly glide behind his opponent, then launched a surprise attack with a Sand Hand. The Energy Shield shattered. A massive Sand Hand slammed him to the ground. Immediately following was a continuous barrage of over a dozen hands, burying the opponent alive. Th? Trung Sa only ceased the attack when the Orange dot on the map disappeared, then retreated.

Th? Trung Sa was satisfied with his new tactic, utilizing the energy recovery granted by the earth and using the Sand Soldiers as Created Spirits. Although the battle consumed a considerable amount of energy, only 2 of the 12 rings on his hands remained. His energy was nearly depleted and would require a half-day's rest for a full recovery. However, the result was excellent: a victory in a fair fight against a same-level opponent, despite having only broken through two years prior.
