Chapter 21.2: The Summoning Banner and the Ghosts Accusation

  1. Soul Summoning Banner and the Ghost's Account ??

  2.

It was a blue flag, which he hung on the wall, with various special characters inscribed on it, called the Soul Summoning Banner (Chiêu H?n K?) ??. Wang Chen (Vong Tr?n) said: "Master, please look. Before, I thought only intellect was important, and everything could be used as a weapon in battle. So, I captured her as a trophy, as a weapon to be used when needed."

Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính) was bewildered, seeing nothing but feeling a slight chill.

Noe said to Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính): "Draw the curtains over the window and the main door, and tell Feng Chen (Phong Tr?n) to come in and look if he wishes." Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính) did exactly as his master instructed. But Feng Chen (Phong Tr?n) refused, staying outside.

Noe continued: "Close your eyes, and focus on opening your Yin-Yang Eye (?m D??ng Nh?n)."

Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính) closed his eyes and slowly opened them. The chill was not just a sensation, but a mist of black aura from the demoness ??. The demoness's face was not only ferocious, but also distorted and torn, with black blood oozing out, reflecting her tragic death, causing Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính) to stumble backward as he was looking too closely at a demoness hovering in the air.

Wang Chen (Vong Tr?n) said to Noe: "I found her behind the mountain, near the Celestial Dragon Temple. At first, I only wanted to use her as a weapon when necessary, caring nothing for her feelings. Now, I ask for your help."

Noe already knew this Demoness and Abbot Ci Xin ?? bore a grudge against each other, but he still asked the Demoness, not only for himself but also for Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính) to hear, his voice becoming gentle: "Debt has a head, grievance has a master. Tell me who harmed you that you are so resentful?"

The Demoness eased her anger, turning to tears, her voice choked with sobs: "No, no one can help me! He is a highly respected man, feared by many, with boundless power. No one can make him pay for what he did to me and my sisters! Huhu."

Noe frowned and asked: "Were there others harmed? Explain clearly."

So the Demoness recounted her entire life: where she lived, what she did, how she secretly fell in love with Abbot Ci Xin, and how, when she became pregnant, she was forced to go to the nunnery beneath the mountain. But she refused; she resisted and wanted Ci Xin to leave the Temple for her, to go somewhere far away and live together. As the pregnancy grew, it became harder to conceal. Finally, Ci Xin lured her behind the mountain, promising to run away with her, but then changed his mind, and how she was pushed into the abyss. At this point in the story, she cried profusely, sobbing too hard to continue.

As soon as she finished, Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính) flew into a rage and shouted: "You wicked demoness, how dare you slander Abbot Ci Xin? He is an innocent man of high virtue and prestige. You are the one who seduced the Abbot, and when you failed, you committed suicide by jumping off the cliff, and now you claim injustice!"

The Demoness went insane with anger, rushing to attack Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính), but luckily, Wang Chen (Vong Tr?n) quickly contained her soul back into the Soul Summoning Banner in time.

Noe said: "Calm down. We will begin the investigation, but it must be secret and known to no one."

Feng Chen (Phong Tr?n) was invited inside. Noe, Wang Chen (Vong Tr?n), Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính), a total of four people, divided the task of secretly investigating the truth.

Noe warned Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính), "You are an official, a City Lord. You must be fair to all citizens. You cannot be biased due to personal feelings of affection. You are also a Divine Cultivator who must emulate the Heavenly Dao, investigating with absolute justice and impartiality, without favoring anyone."

Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính) mumbled under his breath, "Yes, but good people are fine." Duan Zheng (?oàn Chính) still held the thought that Abbot Ci Xin was better than everyone else.
