"This is impossible!"
Nick Fury widened his one eye and ftly refused.
What a joke!
Can Captain America's shield be given away to just anyone? This guy actually wanted to use it?
"Captain America is long gone anyway. This shield has been gathering dust in your S.H.I.E.L.D. warehouse for so many years. Giving it to me can be considered a way to recycle waste, right?" Luke argued.
He thought to himself that since Captain America hadn't shown up yet, why not take advantage of this opportunity to steal the shield? Once Captain America was discovered under the Arctic ice and woke up, it would be much harder to get it.
Of course, that all depended on whether Nick Fury was willing to give it to him.
Luke felt there was little hope.
"I don't know how you found out about the shield's whereabouts, but even if you did," Fury said with a dark expression, "this shield is Captain Rogers's relic. It holds great significance for S.H.I.E.L.D., the U.S. government, and even world peace. Forget it."
Luke shrugged and dropped the topic.
In truth, he had only asked because he knew Fury would never hand over Captain America's shield. It didn't hurt to try—what if Fury lost his mind and actually gave it to him?
"Then adamantium will do." Luke still smiled brightly.
That’s right—his real target was adamantium.
Asking for Captain America's shield was just a negotiation tactic. First, he set a price the other party would absolutely reject, then he could bargain from there.
Initially, he hadn't pnned to contact S.H.I.E.L.D. this early, but now that things had come to this, it would be a waste not to take advantage of it.
If the G-0 War Lord could use adamantium for its skeleton and external armor, its combat effectiveness would increase drastically!
According to Luke, adamantium was the hardest metal known on Earth in the Marvel Universe. It was accidentally synthesized by the U.S. military years ago by mixing alien meteorites with carbon alloys.
One of its most outstanding properties was that once smelted and cooled, even at extreme temperatures of 500,000°C, adamantium would never melt.
One-time molding, never deformed.
Truly indestructible!
Even the Hulk or Thor couldn't destroy an adamantium creation, not even leaving a scratch.
How did Luke know S.H.I.E.L.D. had adamantium? Obviously, anyone who had seen the movies would know.
The chemical structure of adamantium was a top-secret of the U.S. government. As a result, most of the existing adamantium was in the hands of the military and its allies.
Fury felt a headache coming on.
Why did this kid only ask for such difficult materials?
However, considering that Luke was building a mecha, it made sense what he was trying to do.
"Don't say no. I know the military still has plenty of adamantium. With S.H.I.E.L.D.'s influence, getting some shouldn’t be too difficult, right? Maybe you even have some in stock. Keeping it unused is a waste, so why not give it to me?" Luke said with a smile.
Fury snorted but didn't answer.
It wasn’t difficult—S.H.I.E.L.D. had a yearly quota and could obtain a certain amount of adamantium from the military. But it was incredibly precious.
He usually treated it like a treasure, so he was reluctant to hand any over.
But he also wanted to recruit Luke.
Fury thought Bck Widow was right—this kid was indeed cunning.
It seemed impossible to lure him in with just a piece of candy.
Fortunately, Fury had already made up his mind.
Even he understood the principle: you can't catch a wolf without sacrificing a mb.
He was determined to bring Luke into S.H.I.E.L.D. and valued him even more than Tony Stark.
Because Luke was only seven years old—a child's mind was highly moldable.
Although... his ideological education seemed a little off.
Fury attributed that to Luke being an orphan just a year ago.
But he figured that with proper guidance, Luke could one day work for S.H.I.E.L.D.—maybe even repce him.
Then, he could finally retire in peace.
Fury entertained this idea as he spoke, ignoring Bck Widow and the others’ slightly surprised expressions.
"It's not impossible to give you adamantium. How much do you need?"
However, Luke’s next words nearly made Fury explode.
Luke casually said, "I want a ton!"
"One—one ton?" Fury's one eye widened in astonishment. "What do you think this is? Why didn’t you just say you wanted ten tons?!"
Luke immediately nodded. "Ten tons is fine."
"..."
Fury was speechless.
He had to expin the synthesis process of adamantium to Luke and how complicated it was. He also expined how valuable adamantium was and its price on the bck market.
He assumed Luke had requested such an outrageous amount simply because he didn't understand its value.
But Luke was deliberately setting up a negotiation gap—hoping to pry as much adamantium from Fury’s fingers as possible.
"Then I'll take 100 kilograms. No less," Luke said, stepping back slightly.
"How much?! One hundred kilograms? You’re bckmailing me!" Fury shouted.
This number still exceeded his expectations.
Luke scratched his ear. That reaction sounded familiar—Tony had said something simir not long ago.
Crossing his arms, Luke replied in a righteous tone, "Bckmail? No, no. That’s what businessmen like Tony do. A profiteer like him. But we’re all civilized people here. How can civilized people use the word ‘bckmail’? Fury, you’re too crude. This is—"
He paused and then dramatically decred, "Compensation! Yes, this is mental damage compensation from S.H.I.E.L.D.!"
Luke insisted it was compensation, not bckmail.
Although deep inside, he knew—yes, this was definitely compensation (extortion) (fraud).
Braised eggs? What braised eggs?
For the past few days, he had heard people use the term "braised egg" a lot. Was it some new internet sng?
Fury had a bck question mark over his head.
But he didn’t think too much about it. All he could focus on was Luke’s absurd demands.
In the end, he sighed.
Fine. He thought, I’ll give it to this kid. As long as he joins the Avengers Initiative, it won’t be a waste.
"I can give you adamantium alloy. But the amount has to be reduced. One hundred kilograms is absolutely impossible—I don’t have that much on hand," Fury said seriously.
Pure adamantium was so rare that even S.H.I.E.L.D. had little in reserve.
As for secondary adamantium alloy, that was a different story.
Yes, Fury pnned to sell him the weaker version.
He figured Luke had gotten information somewhere about S.H.I.E.L.D.'s access to adamantium, but if he didn’t know much about metallurgy, he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the two types.
Seeing that Fury had agreed, Luke immediately grinned. "Please, come in, Director Fury. Let’s sit down and talk."
Fury gred at him unhappily.
Did his attitude change that fast?
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were extremely grateful that Luke finally let them in. Standing outside under the hot sun for so long had been miserable.
As Fury walked in, he tilted his head and whispered to Bck Widow, "Is this kid always this annoying?"
Bck Widow stifled a ugh. "You have no idea, Boss."
None of them knew that as they entered the warehouse, danger awaited them inside.
Ross, who had been asleep for more than half a month, suddenly opened his eyes and woke up inside the fish tank.
After leading a group of people into the warehouse, Luke sat down and began a heated debate with Nick Fury over the details of "compensation."
Neither side was willing to budge on the amount of adamantium.
With nothing else to do, the others wandered around the warehouse, with Bck Widow and Hawkeye acting as their guides.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were filled with curiosity and amazement at the technology stored in the warehouse.
Bck Widow and Hawkeye had seen it before, so they weren’t too surprised. However, the other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents—who had never seen such things before—were utterly shocked when they id eyes on the legendary six-meter-tall super mecha.
As S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, they were well-informed about advanced technology.
But this… this was unlike anything they had ever seen before.
If they hadn’t witnessed it firsthand, they wouldn’t have believed that something like this had been created by a seven-year-old child.
Luke's mecha, a fusion of DNF and Gundam aesthetics, was entirely unique in the Marvel universe.
A few of the agents exchanged thoughts.
One of them, staring up at the unfinished G-0 Warlord, said seriously, "This design… it's not Russian, nor American. It has elements of both, but it doesn't fully belong to either."
Another agent chimed in, "Not German either. I’ve seen secret German robot projects, and their designs look nothing like this."
A female agent finally spoke up, "I think it has a bit of a Japanese style."
"Japanese?"
"Don’t you guys read comics? The armor style… this reminds me of something from Japanese manga. Maybe that kid took inspiration from it."
"Comics? Oh, come on, you really think something this advanced could come from pure fantasy? Quit joking."
The two male agents scoffed.
The female agent simply shrugged. She was just making an observation.
Little did they know, she was actually close to the truth.
When Luke modified the G-0 Warlord’s design, he had indeed referenced a cssic Japanese mecha from a manga. This time, however, it wasn’t Gundam—though the overall style still carried a fshy, sci-fi look.
As for practicality?
Who cares about that?
Mecha functions can always be upgraded.
Looking cool is a lifelong pursuit!
Standing side by side, Bck Widow gnced at Hawkeye and asked, "What do you think?"
Hawkeye crossed his arms, still gazing up at the G-0 Warlord, and muttered thoughtfully, "Don’t you think it’s weird, Natasha?"
"Weird?"
"Why is everything so… square?"
Bck Widow suddenly realized he was right. Even the smaller white mecha had a blocky design.
At first gnce, the shape looked awkward—because no matter how tall it was, the proportions made it look shorter.
"Maybe Luke just has a thing for cubes?" Bck Widow suggested.
Hawkeye shrugged. "Who knows? That kid’s a genius. Maybe there’s some deep technical reason behind it."
"Hey, no stealing!"
Luke’s voice rang out from across the room.
Bck Widow and Hawkeye exchanged gnces before ughing.
None of them noticed that in the air combat mecha Tornado, parked nearby in the docking area, a small octopus-sized creature with very short legs was staring at them from inside a fish tank—curiously observing these strange intruders...
Just then, something strange happened.
Everyone in the warehouse—except for Luke—suddenly froze in pce.
A bnk expression washed over their faces.
But a moment ter, they returned to normal, as if nothing had happened.
Bck Widow gave Nick Fury a curious look before stepping forward, touching his signature bck trench coat with a smirk.
"Fury, I’ve been meaning to ask… It’s so damn hot out here. Don’t you feel like dying wearing that long coat all the time?"
Fury chuckled. "I have to maintain my imposing image as director. That’s why I keep the air conditioning so low in my office. I was burning up earlier when we were talking outside."
With that, Fury casually tossed his trench coat to the ground, revealing his sweat-soaked shirt.
"By the way, why do you call me 'boiled egg'?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Bck Widow giggled. "Because you’re bck."
"Oh? Hehehe!" Fury ughed heartily.
Hawkeye grinned. "You know, I was the one who spread the name ‘Fury Egg’ around. Now the whole bureau calls you that, hahahaha!"
Fury didn't mind at all and ughed along with him. "Hahahaha..."
The other agents joined in, bursting into ughter.
Bck Widow held her forehead, shaking with amusement. "Why do I feel a little dizzy? Hehehe—"
Meanwhile, Luke’s jaw dropped.
His eyes widened in shock.
Then, he suddenly heard a sinister voice cackling in delight.
"Foolish humans! Hopeless humans! Behold the true power of the great me, the Eighth Apostle—Long-Legs Ross! Mwahaha!"
Luke turned toward the fish tank.
"Ross!" he called out.
"What do you want?" Ross huffed, clearly annoyed by the interruption.
"What the hell did you just do?"
"Hmph! Don’t you think it’s fun to see these foolish humans drop their usual masks and reveal their true selves? Hmm? Hmm?"
The small octopus bounced excitedly inside the tank.
Luke let out a deep sigh, rubbing his temples.
In DNF, Ross’ tentacle attack could cause dizziness, confusion, and sleep. One of his strongest abilities was mind control.
So, when Fury and the others suddenly started acting… out of character, Luke immediately knew it was Ross' doing.
But why now?
Ross didn’t have this ability before.
Could it have awakened after his two-week nap?
Just then, Hawkeye turned to Bck Widow with soft eyes and said in a deep, affectionate voice, "Natasha… I never got the chance to tell you, but… my feelings for you never changed. Can you hear it? This is my heartbeat…"
Bck Widow's lips curled into a mischievous smile. She looked at him and purred, "Oh, lovely Clint. You’re so sweet. But I regret to inform you… the one I truly love is Hill."
Hawkeye's heart shattered into pieces.
His expression twisted into utter despair, as if his entire world had colpsed.
Luke covered his face with both hands, his shoulders shaking violently.
What the hell?!
Bck Widow is… into women? This totally ruins her character!
"Alright, Ross, cut it out. I still need S.H.I.E.L.D. to supply me with adamantium for my mecha upgrades."
"Tsk~ boring!"
The moment Ross finished speaking, everyone in the warehouse colpsed to the ground, fast asleep.
Fury was the first to go down… face-first.
Luke stared at the unconscious S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, utterly speechless.
Why did they pass out again?!
"Oh god… How am I supposed to expin this when they wake up?"
Luke sighed, feeling a massive headache coming on.
With Ross around, keeping a low profile was clearly impossible.
Both of them liked causing trouble…
But their methods were completely different.
Luke considered himself a "strategic troublemaker", someone who stirred things up but always found a way out unscathed.
Ross, on the other hand, wasn’t even a "hawk"—he had his own unique philosophy.
If Luke had to sum up Ross’ style in one word, it would be:
"Chaos."
---
Less than five minutes ter, everyone woke up.
They looked around, confused.
"What happened?" Fury rubbed his temples, his head throbbing.
Bck Widow frowned. "I think I lost a chunk of my memory."
Fury turned to Luke with an unpleasant expression.
"I need a reasonable expnation. Now."
