Chapter 39: Capture of Bck Widow
There was no one around, no witnesses. It was clear the other party had pnned this well. No one saw what had just happened.
"What does Bck Widow want? Does she want to kill me?"Luke thought the possibility was low.
S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't a killer organization. As the name suggested, their role was to protect and contain, not destroy. Only when containment failed and the target was deemed dangerous and uncontrolble would S.H.I.E.L.D. resort to elimination.
And their method of destruction? Quite creative. They’d load what they wanted to eliminate into rockets and shoot them straight into the sun.
"So, this should be a test?"That’s what Luke concluded.
Bck Widow was testing him. She had been observing Luke for several days and now decided to use a simple yet effective method—driving a car straight at him—to verify her suspicions.
Her motives were clear. If Luke dodged, it would confirm he wasn’t a normal kid. If he didn’t react or couldn’t evade the car, she would brake in time.
In fact, Bck Widow wasn’t entirely sure. She didn’t fully trust her own intel. After all, Luke was still a child. According to the reports, he was only seven years old. No matter how she looked at him, he didn’t seem like the infamous "Apostle."
But now, the truth was undeniable. He is that guy.
Bck Widow found it hard to believe.
Luke stared at Bck Widow, and she stared back at him. Both their minds raced, calcuting their next moves. Neither of them were ordinary—each knew exactly what to do.
As soon as Luke moved, Bck Widow threw the car into reverse, trying to escape.
"Trying to run? Better ask my stick first!"Luke pulled a long, thin staff from his storage space and pointed it at the back of her car.
Battle Mage Skill: Spinning Staff!
A cssic move that defied the ws of physics.
The staff stuck to the car’s rear like glue. In an instant, the vehicle—and Bck Widow with it—was lifted into the air, flipping 180 degrees like a windmill before crashing heavily behind Luke. The staff was still attached to the rear of the car.
With a loud bang, the car’s windows shattered. Bck Widow was tossed around inside, dazed. Gritting her teeth, she crawled out through the overturned window, staggering to her feet as she tried to flee.
Suddenly, she felt a gust of wind behind her head. Before she could react, a sharp pain shot through her skull, and everything went bck.
Luke stood behind her, holding a brick in his hand.
Street Fighter Skill: Brick Smash.
He had debated whether to keep the brick in his storage space, but it had come in handy after all.
Looking at the unconscious woman on the ground—who also happened to be a literal sleeping beauty—Luke scratched his head, feeling a bit troubled.
Leaving her here in the middle of the night was definitely not an option. Plus, he wanted to know why Bck Widow had done this. How had she discovered him?
Unfortunately, his storage space could only hold objects, not people.
With no better option, Luke summoned his aerial combat mecha. He piloted the machine, grabbed Bck Widow, and flew into the sky.
Destination: his secret warehouse.
---
When Bck Widow woke up, she found her hands tied to a chair. She gnced down and saw her clothes were still intact.
She sat there, unflustered. She had been in worse situations.
Then she spotted Luke across the room.
He stood at a mechanical workbench, his back to her, fiddling with something.
Bck Widow scanned the surroundings. It looked like an assembly workshop.
"How did you do that?"
"Oh? You’re awake. How did I do what?" Luke turned around at the sound of her voice.
"How did you catch me?" Bck Widow asked.
From her perspective, all she saw in the rearview mirror was Luke suddenly pulling out a stick from nowhere and poking it into the back of her car. The next thing she knew, the world spun, and she crashed to the ground.
She’d never experienced anything so bizarre.
"You mean this?"Luke pulled out his staff in front of her.
Bck Widow stared at it intently, then nodded.
"How did you do that?" she asked, amazed. "That thing’s huge—where were you hiding it?"
"Secret."
"..."
"As for the car flipping over, that’s just the principle of leverage."
"..."
Bck Widow was speechless. Does he think I’m stupid? Leverage? What kind of fake science is that?
Luke cleared his throat, unwilling to expin further—not that he could. How could he expin something that clearly defied the ws of physics?
He shifted the topic. "Do you know how fast you were driving? At least 500 miles per hour!"
"120 miles per hour," Bck Widow corrected him. "This isn’t an F1 race, and I’m a good driver." She smiled.
"I was just shocked. Did you really pn to hit me?"
"Of course not. It was just a test. But clearly, it worked, didn’t it, Mr. Apostle?" She grinned.
Luke snorted. "How’d you figure it out?"
Bck Widow whispered one word: "Hamburger."
"I see..."
"And your voice. You hid it well, but I’m trained to notice these things."
Luke could only admire her.
This woman is dangerous. The title ‘Bck Widow’ is well-earned.
"So, little friend, what are you going to do with me?" Bck Widow teased. "Kill me to keep me quiet?"
Luke sensed the hint of sarcasm in her voice and smile.
"Oh, my identity is exposed," Luke sighed, scratching his head.
He had underestimated S.H.I.E.L.D.’s agents. If he let Bck Widow go, his identity would be known to the entire organization. He wasn’t ready for that yet—not mentally, at least.
In his pn, he’d wait until he completed the G-0 War Lord before dealing with S.H.I.E.L.D. By then, he’d have an overwhelming advantage.
But as the saying goes, pns never keep up with changes. This was happening too soon.
Luke pondered his options.I can’t really kill Bck Widow… right?Rough her up first, then kill her?
He gnced down at himself and sighed.
Yeah, that’s not happening.
"Okay… I admit I’m the Apostle." The words felt oddly familiar.
Luke looked at Bck Widow. "But honestly, I don’t have any ill intentions toward you, S.H.I.E.L.D., or anyone else. Let me tell you a secret—I’m actually a good guy."
"A good guy?" Bck Widow raised an eyebrow. "You mean the gang members you killed? The gang conflict in Hell’s Kitchen a few weeks ago? When I was first assigned to investigate, I noticed the sudden spike in gang violence. Now that I think about it, that was your doing. God… I can’t believe you’re so young."
"You know, those people were gangsters," Luke shrugged.
