The tall and strong man still stood in front of Jiang g, and his attitude had made everything clear.
“It’s too te,” Xiaomeng urged.
The buzzing of the drew louder, and the faint gray mist surrounding the iron door seemed to flow with a life of its own.
In at most half a mihe door would colpse.
The strong man seemed to have done something to the secret dn the curses and screams from the vilge chief and others outside. The sound of banging against the door opped, but the secret door seemed te seamlessly with the wall.
“There’s a hidden door there. You leave through that way,” the man poio a er of the room, where a very rge wardrobe stood, exactly the same as the one in the Qian family's abandoned building.
“Open the wardrobe, and you’ll see the door. Follow the passage and once you’re outside, you’ll be at a pastry shop on the street. The vilge chief only left two people there, they won’t be able to stop you.” His words were fast.
The mist surrounding the secret iron door swirled, and occasional dark glows leaked out, but the strong man seemed not to see them.
This was likely another restriposed by the rules of the nightmare.
As Jiang g pondered, Xiaomeng immediately ran toward the door. Every sed in the nightmare was dangerous and torturous, and only by returning to their own world would they be truly safe.
Without saying goodbye, a fsh of light, and Xiaomeng’s figure disappeared into the door.
The strong man was stunned.
In his sight, the woman had charged straight into the wall, and then... disappeared.
Was it assing teique?
Jiang g naturally didn’t have time to expin, and there was no need. He g the strong man’s eyes, nodded, and said, “Take care.”
Then, he also ran toward the iron door.
Just as half of his foot had crossed the threshold, his movements suddenly froze, and his expression ged. He suddenly thought of something.
They hadn’t found Qian Jianxiu.
Nor had they discovered any ghosts.
Sihe iron door had appeared, it meant the case had been resolved. Though it might have been Li Lu who acted first, they hadn’t seen Qian Jianxiu’s body.
The fusion drove him to gnce back just before entering the door.
In that instant, it felt like time itself had stopped.
Everything seemed to py out in slow motion.
The et door in the er of the room slowly cracked open.
A blood-red eye appeared behind the crack.
In the sed, the et door suddenly flung open, and a bloody, mutited body fell out, nding on the floor and spttering blood everywhere.
It was a headless corpse.
A twisted figure appeared in the room, holding a severed head in one of its several dismembered arms.
The figure emitted a roar that was a mix of anger aement, then crashed through the secret door, shattering it as easily as paper.
The curses and door-banging sounds from the vilge chief and his group immediately stopped.
Screams, running footsteps, the sound of flesh being torn apart, and blood spshing on the floor turhe hallway into a se of age.
The iron door altered Jiang g’s vision, and he could vaguely see through the walls, glimpsing the horrific se in the corridor.
Large amounts of blood spttered across the ground, severed limbs and arms scattered everywhere, and the people who had hidden in nearby rooms had not escaped the ghost’s hunt.
The ghost grabbed a man hiding uhe bed, who had his mouth covered, trying to pretend to be dead.
It dragged him out from uhe bed, then grabbed his shoulders, and in the man’s screams, it tore him in half.
In an instant, the entire building was filled with a bloody murderous aura. The vengeful ghost had finally arrived, carryimost malice, to punish those who had itted crimes.
Now, no rules could restrain her.
At least in this moment, she was an untainable force.
Jiang g suddenly uood—this was the reason the ghost hadn’t appeared earlier.
It was also due to rules.
If the ghost had maed, all of them would have died.
The ghost had also been waiting.
If they hadered the iron door withiime limit, or if they had foolishly opehe wardrobe door out of curiosity, they would have died.
But versely, if they didn’t actively open the wardrobe door, the ghost hidden inside could not harm them either, only watg helplessly as they left.
The ghost wouldn’t spare them simply because they helped her seek revenge. As Fan Li had said in their first mission, they represehe ultimate malice, the embodiment of all ive forces, both what could be imagined and what couldn’t.
The only thing that could limit them was the rules.
Ihe rules, they were untouchable; outside the rules, there would be nothi but bones.
As Jiang g quickly thought about the rules, the sughter in the hallway came to a temporary halt.
Only the vilge chief, his son with a beard, and the strong man were still alive.
The twisted figure raised the bearded man, who was already horrified, his pants soaked with foul liquid, and shook him in front of the vilge chief, as if dispying something.
The vilge chief was in much better shape than the bearded man, at least he wasn’t colpsed on the ground. He barely stood against the wall, but his eyes were already hollow.
It seemed he had long foreseen that this day would e.
Just as the strong man had said, debts must be paid in the end.
Now, it was his turn to pay.
“Creak... creak…”
In front of the vilge chief, the ghost held the bearded man firmly with one hand, grabbed his head with the other, and slowly twisted. The bearded man’s neck made a chilling sound as blood and foam poured from his mouth.
The bearded man’s eyes were fixed on his father, as if begging for help.
But after a few seds, he couldn’t do that anymore. His head was twisted 180 degrees, and the st flicker of life disappeared. His head dropped, and he was dead.
The vilge chief stared at the twisted figure with bloodshot eyes, as if the ghost were his mortal enemy.
The ghost didn’t rush. Its limp neck crooked as it stared back at the vilge chief, its blood-red eyes seeming to burn with an unquenchable fire.
Killing the vilge chief no longer satisfied her; she wahe most painful death.
Qian Jianxiu had been tortured beynition.
Now, her goal had been achieved.
Her arm slowly stretched out, and even though she was still a few meters away from the vilge chief, she somehow mao touch him. This eerie se made Jiang g frown.
The hand, trembling with excitement, stroked the vilge chief’s chest, feeling the poundi that beat with fear.
The twisted figure let out an ear-pierg sound. Jiang g could feel the inteement as the ghost finally got its revenge.
The ghost was ughing.
He was sure of it.
But just as the ghost’s cw-like finger was about to tear out the vilge chief’s heart, a rge wooden stick fell from the sky, breaking the ghost’s outstretched arm.
In the sed, the eerie arm returo its normal length.
Jiang g’s pupils tracted as he saw the strong man holding the wooden stick, standing protectively in front of the vilge chief.
