Chapter 87: Peeping

  Transtor: der Transtions

  --------

  Something is behind the door!

This discovery sent a chill down the backs of Jiang g and Fatty.

In an instant, Jiang g's thoughts took flight. The sed, he wondered how long that thing had been waiting behind the door. Perhaps it had seheir presehe moment they arrived.

That thing had been waiting for them to approach.

“Doctor,” Fatty tried to suppress his inner fear, but his 200-plus-pound body was trembling beyond his trol. “Could it be… is it Yao? Is she waiting for us?!”

His teeth were chattering, and his words came out jumbled.

“Should we go back?” Fatty looked at Jiang g, his sense of safety pletely shattered. “If we go in tonight, we’re probably dead. The ghost has already noticed us.”

“Do you think you’ll survive tomorrow?” Jiang g turo look at Fatty, whose eyes were filled only with fear, all remaining rationality submerged.

Jiang g disliked such people and couldn’t uand them.

In his view, danger and fear were two different matters. Danger referred to the situation itself, while fear was the attitude one adopted toward that situation.

However, fear wouldn’t resolve danger. On the trary, it would only hihe resolution of danger.

Thus, Jiang g almost never experienced fear. Even if a trace of it did emerge, he would crush it, and he would never let his own fear influehe thoughts of his teammates.

  This wasional release.

  It was murder.

“You should go back,” Jiang g told Fatty. “I’m staying here.”

“You’re not leaving?” Fatty seemed surprised. The situation was already crystal clear: the ghost was behind the door, and it was ready.

If the ghost had a on, he could imagi wielding a sharp knife, reveling in joy behind the door.

“The sky won’t brighten again, so for me, there is no tomorrow,” Jiang g said calmly. “If you want to leave, I won’t stop you. Besides, since I’m here, the ghost won’t look for you for the time being, so you safely return to your dorm and sleep o peaceful night.”

“The st.” Those two words instinctively tightened Fatty’s heart.

If he left Jiang g, or if Jiang g really died here, then he would be left alone. Fatty swallowed hard, imagining that whatever way the ghost wanted him to die, he would have to ply.

He wasn’t sure if it would be as Jiang g said, that he would be chosen by the ghost, first imprisohen have his limbs torn off, and finally hung upside down under a fgpole for amusement.

“So…” Jiang g emerged from behind the low wall, the dim light casting a faint glow on him. He looked at Fatty and quietly asked, “What’s your decision?”

Fatty took a deep breath and resolutely said, “I’ll follow you, Doctor.”

The two of them crept toward the big door, with Fatty quietly suggesting they find a secluded spot to slip in, rather than swaggering right through.

“If we’ve already been discovered by the ghost, it doesn’t matter where we enter, we’ll enter it,” Jiang g replied briefly. “Besides, we’re not familiar with the pce we might try to sneak in.”

Jiang g’s words were easy to uand. After thinking for a few seds, Fatty came to terms with it. Entering a ghost in a remote, dark, and unfamiliar terrain might be even more perilous.

The closer they got to the door; the stronger Fatty’s unease became. But when he g Jiang g beside him, he suddenly felt it wasn’t so terrifying.

Standing before the door, Jiang g seemed to be sensing the atmosphere inside. He didn’t move; even his breathing seemed to have fallen into stillness.

Fatty noticed a damaged area in the middle of the wooden door. Holding his breath to look closely, he found it was a keyhole. It seemed to have once held a lock, but it had been removed for some reason.

  Only this keyhole remained.

Fatty took a deep breath, uo tain his curiosity about what was behind the door. He slowly leaned in closer, strangely finding that his massive body made no sound at all as he moved.

  He swallowed hard, steadying himself.

The horrifying image he had envisioned of a ghost with disheveled hair or a shadow with a gaping maw did not appear.

Ihe equipmeer’s courtyard, a mist seemed to have formed, thid white, obsg everything.

“However…” Fatty paused. “Why does this mist have a faint yellow hue, along with tless red lines?”

The more he looked, the stra seemed, and he couldn’t help but lean in a bit closer.

Suddenly, the thick mist in the courtyard quivered.

Then, it retreated, revealing a dim red glow.

As the mist pulled back, Fatty could see more clearly, and his initially bewildered expression transformed into horror, ultimately evolving into sheer terror.

The fear that had been simmering within him exploded, shattering the nerves he thought he had adjusted.

There was no mist at all.

Those were a pair of eyes filled with rese and jealousy, gleaming white!

They were the eyes of a ghost.

The milky, yellowish eyeballs were covered with blood vessels!

The thing behind the door was holding the same posture as Fatty, peering through the keyhole into the courtyard, separated only by this rusty iron door!

“Ah! Ahhh!” Fatty was so startled by the suddehat he felt half of his soul leave him. He stumbled backward, sitting on the ground, his legs kig back like two sausage links, his mind rag with a sihought.

  Run!

  Run as far aossible!

Even if he had to die tomorrow, it would be better than dying at the hands of the ghht now!

But what Fatty didn’t expect was for Jiang g to step forward quickly and push the door.

The door had a lock, so of course, it didn’t budge.

However, the s seg it didn’t seem as sturdy as they looked. A gap big enough for a human head appeared betweewo doors, and through that gap, Jiang g finally caught sight of the true form of the creature behind the door.

Even Jiang g, who was usually calm, felt a ripple of unease rise within him.

It was a man, limping on one leg, supported by a e.

His head tilted to one side, his body awkwardly positioned, his clothes fitti exceedingly worn, resembling a dust-covered rag doll.

He was the manager of the equipmeer, Su Yu, the fiancé that Li Yanwei had mentioned.

He was a wito the events from ten years ago and the vergence point of all known clues.

Ultimately, Jiang g’s gaze fell upon Su Yu’s face.

His plexion was exceedingly pale. Although Jiang g had noticed this in the daylight, now, he was an unnatural kind of white, devoid of any color.

Even more terrifying were his eyes!

The bck pupils had nearly vanished, leaving only murky yellow sclera filled with blood vessels, his gaze brimming with endless rese.

Could this still be called a person?

Su Yu… is he truly a ghost?!

  They had bee up.

Fatty’s mind was in turmoil. Just as he was about to faint, he saw Su Yu rushing over with an incredibly eerie gait, like a spider with a limp.
