Near the end of css, Mr. Minnow quickly announced what the homework was due this friday.
“Now I want you all to know that this week I want you to consider what we talked about! If communication can be difficult between monsters, what kind of difficulties would you have if you converged?! What are things you would have to face or change in your life?! This smaller project is a desk viewing! You all can work solo or partner up! But you must showcase how a convergence will affect you!” He said while passing out handouts of our test project/homework.
Looking at it, I could see that it had to show the differences between being human and what monster we will or might converge into. Things from pictures, figures and even video could be used. It even said that converged students would be to present how something in our lives changed.
“If they are smaller things that can’t fully show off your possible changes then please do three or four together. If it is something such as the legality of flying please keep it short and how it may affect your day to day life in summarization.” Belle read aloud as he looked at the handout. “This means you Emily… Hmm.” Belle tilted his head with a raised brow. “Wow, she’s famous.” He said with a happy, good for you, smile.
I chuckled at that. “I don’t think she’s famous for the right reason. I think she’s more infamous.” I suggested.
Belle looked at me with big innocent eyes as if I just suggested aliens were real. “But she doesn’t sprout tentacles…….. Or eat people. Not that I know of.” He said with an ever worrying face.
“What?” I looked shocked at his face before a small cute smile popped on his face. “Wait…. You py videogames?” I asked, realizing the reference.
He shook his head. “I like learning about the worlds but I saw a vs video with some disease sensing guy. Sad they can’t be evenly matched.” He shrugged.
“Makes sense….. You wanna be partners for this project by the way?” I asked after a quick thought. The handout said we would be given free time during css to put it together and since it was to be presented on friday-
“Yeah! Then we can have a dinner celebration!” Belle cheered as he hopped to his feet and rushed over to the door. “Text or call! We’ll talk ter! I got some pnning to get to!” He waved.
I couldn’t help but smile for a few moments before I shook my head. Right! Gotta check in on Emily. As I got up, I grabbed two extra handouts before making my way to the exit. Only for Mr. Minnow to wave me over.
“Before you go. I wanted to let you know your new PE, magic teacher is here early and will most likely show up when you go to Jaque’s css ter today.” He narrowed his eyes. “She heard what he did. So knowing her, she’ll probably want to lecture Jaque and make a show of it.” He warned.
“Should I be careful?” I asked with some worry.
“Just keep them from bsting each other to bits.” He said but his eyes looked worried, almost begging me to be extra careful.
“When you said she might be showy I didn’t think she’d go that far.” I said before nodding. “I’ll try to keep them from ripping each other apart.”
“It’s more a point she wants to present to Jaque. Or she wants to show you how powerful she is.” He said with an annoyed, my kid sister painted the dog pink, look.
“Alright. I’ll be careful. Thanks for the heads up.”
It took me a little time to both pick up something for Emily and a small trio of steaks to fill my gut before I found myself in front of the nurse’s office. It wasn’t too far from where I normally had PE css but unlike most cssrooms and other rooms here, it had several doors. A rge double door for anyone seven feet or below, five small coaster sized doors with ptforms sat above the double doors for fairies. Three tunnels about four feet tall at ground level under the window with heart stickers and closed curtains. And finally to the right and left were giant doors that looked to stand about ten maybe twelve feet tall that glowed with a soapy shimmer.
Is this what a hospital for all types of monsters might look like? Wow. that’s intense… would ones that heal giant sized ones have even rger doors? How the heck would a small doctor even begin to check things like heart beats? Well at least they’re taking our health seriously.
The moment I pushed through the doors, I felt a warm then refreshing aura in the air. My back felt loads lighter and even my mind felt more awake? That's really nice! Kinda feels like dropping on your bed after a long day. Kinda smells like pumpkin or something sweet.
In front of me sat a maju-mew at a desk, they had bck neck length hair with a yer of pink hair underneath. They had rge almost purple eyes that focused on a light blue computer while their fluff filled ears quickly turned to face me. And as I approached, I saw the uniform they wore, a cream coat with two rows of buttons with both chest and waist pockets, topped with a buttoned strap around their narrow waistline. They tilted their head to the side and up at me with little concern as if I was just another rando.
“Need something?” She, maybe he said, sounding almost rexed if I didn’t feel a sense of annoyance. It was then I saw the name tag with only ‘Gce’ written on it. Their eyes narrowed after a second.
“Uh, I’m here to check up on my friend, Emily.” I said after realizing I was staring.
They held their gaze for a few seconds before rolling their head back to the computer and pressing a button next to their keyboard. “Name.” They said, their soft voice sounding so neutral that I thought they were stating a boring fact.
“It’s Oliver.” I quickly said. They typed it out and then the doors to the left burst open.
“Big Brother?! Did you call?!” Another maju-mew flew over to Gce. This one also had bck hair that was cut in a type of bob cut with bangs that hid the top of their pink eyes. They wore a pleated skirt that fanned out around the knees and a V-neck that only showed their colr bone. This short puffy sleeve shirt didn’t hide her mature chest shape as she pressed her chest into Gce’s back while her arms wrapped around their neck and waist in a protective manner. She also had a blue bow tied to her left arm that looked like a butterfly.
She then fixed me with puffed out cheeks and a gre. I thought she believed I’d come to steal away her darling brother. But before she could say anything, Gce reached up and pressed a name tag sticker with the word, annoying, on her forehead. “Please take this guest to that loud mouth zipper.” He said, with the same neutral voice she used with me.
“Right-o!” She stood up and saluted him. “Right this way sweetie!” She moved to the door with a big cheery smile as if her hostility was never a thing.
“Alright, thank you.” I said to Gce before following his sister further inside.
The moment I stepped in, I saw a few slimes with name tags floating inside them as they rolled down the hall into one of the rooms. Several walls had cabinets, beled for healing salves and creams, another that beled bandages and wraps with one cabinet that looked stuffed with bnkets. In some of the rooms were goblins, humans and a few small spider girls. Some had their legs up, were wrapped in bandages or drinking a honey colored liquid while their posture seemed to go from slouched to straightened. A few had more maju-mew nurses attending to them.
“Sorry about my brother. He can get a little…uh-shy.” She said as she led down the hall. “Hopefully he’ll get a nice and strong love to take control. Teaching him the joys of the body and ultimately bonding their souls together!” She said with blushed cheeks and a giddy smile as if she was talking about herself.
“I see…sooo could I ask you about healing syrups and the like?” I asked, trying to side step this weird conversation.
“Those? Yeah sure! I can tell you about their uses and benefits but not how to make them. Not an alchemist or one of those chemies, whatever they call themselves.” She gave a dismissive shrug.
“Right. So, what uses do syrups have and are there any alternatives? In case one isn’t avaible?” I asked
“Well, a syrup is a golden delight that you mostly drink or eat. It cheers on the body to heal faster and even energizes your body, so lots of people actually use it for its original purpose.” She said with excited cheer. “Pancakes, sweetening hot coco and adding an extra pick me up to coffee!” She said right as I was about to ask for detail. “As far as alts….there’s fizzle leaf. That’s a Large green four pointed leaf by the way. Just add some two parts water and you have a healing soda that tastes really like protein.” Her face scrunched up like she bit into a lime. “Or pixie pikes, small sticks full of a healing sap and some other ingredients. You eat them or you-” She made a stabbing motion to her arm like she was holding a syringe. “Those while fun probably wouldn’t help you.” She said as she eyed my scaled arm.
“Thanks. Is there any oth-” I began only for the maju-mew to motion to a door.
“Here is where you’ll find your friend. If you’re extra worried, I can tell you she’ll be fine and just needs to take things slow. And work on her brain power.” She said before rushing off when she saw a skinny white demon try to walk down the hall. “AE! Where do you think you’re going mister!”
I watched as they ran around the corner, followed by pained yelp. I could only shake my head as I opened the door. Inside, the room didn’t look too different to a normal nurse’s resting room…if you ignored the rge icecream sunday gss, big enough for a basketball in a bookshelf dressed up to look like a room. A poster with a man and woman covering their privates, beling this area as not a relief zone. The map next to it listed a relief zone around the corner from this room, opposite a restroom. Behind a gss case sat something that looked like a series of pstic rings in the shape of a tail. It kinda looked like a snake skeleton to me. I looked at my own tail and it looked like the thing might fit around the tip down to the middle, maybe. Outside of that were a few more posters, one had a shiny slime and warned against membrane wasting, reminding them to eat what gets stuck to their surface or to wash off any grime. Another showed one of those buff super hero type demons and a small goblin girl, this one warned about differences between physiques else you’ll harm your partner and something called the O’Brain stretch.
“Hehe~”
“N-nnnnoehhh~!”
And hidden behind a curtain in front of me sat the silhouette of some jumbled, wiggling blob that shifted side to side….and up and down too……… The giggling and odd moaning sounds didn’t help my imagination either.
“Emily? Steph? Are you two in here?” I called knowing full well that I was stupid to not knock when walking in. the situations I find myself in…..aghh.
The blob shadow shifted for what felt like a long moment, making me wonder if it wasn’t too te to rush out the door. “Yeah! Oliver? Wow! You’re here too?!” Emily drunkenly called out. “How much fun can a gal get?!” She happily cheered.
I heard an annoyed sigh. “Emily, I thought you said you were feeling better! Wait! Aaah!” Steph started to compin. “S-s-stop that! No! N-n-not there!” The blob silhouette bounced and shook like snail tasting salt.
“Uh maybe I should give you some privacy.” I said as I turned back to the door as I felt my heart thump heavily in my chest and my wings were starting to pull open. Sadly the curtain slid open as I was turning and my wings slumped back behind me.
There, wrapped in the yellow coils of Steph’s tail was Emily, ying back like she was on some water bed. A part of her tail wrapped around Emily’s waist, she was poking and sliding her fingers on the underbelly of the tail. Steph squirmed as she leaned over a nearby desk, her good arm holding up her head as she looked annoyed. “Sorry about what you heard. This c-crazy head won’t stop trying to tickle me.” She said as her tail shifted, making Emily jump. “I know she won’t be like this forever but, I hope to all the gods she doesn't get stuck like this.” She grumbled as she shifted her shoulder.
“Right.” I looked at Emily who was busy fixing her hair. “I wanted to check up on her and ask something but maybe it would be best if I didn’t bug her righ-”
“Really? Could you ask anyway? Pleeaseeeee?” Emily said as she quickly shifted to look me in the eyes. The way she looked at me made me see her like a kitten trapped in a carrier, ready to run on the ceiling and tunnel its way through a couch.
Better to let her get some zoomies off before she explodes. “Alright. Stop staring at me like that!” I said as her pupils grew wider than what a normal human could possibly go. “I was curious why I don’t feel anyone else’s mana? I felt Mr. Minnow’s when he gave a demonstration but that’s it.” I said.
“That? Hehe. it’s the same reason you don’t feel hot water in an ocean of super cold water.” She said like it was the most obvious thing, of course candy uses sugar and cute things activate our aggressive turn them into paste nature.
“Um….?” Sadly to me it was farther from obvious as the ball that made up our gaxy was to the earth.
Luckily, Steph poked Emily with the tip of her tail and gave her an annoyed look. Emily looked at her with a confused face, Steph narrowed her eyes and only after a second of staring at each other did Emily say, ‘Oooooh.’
“That’s because you have so much mana, it drowns out anyone else’s mana like a flood. You could say if you believe the animal territory theory, that a stronger monster’s mana was meant to mark their territory just like an animal. Using it to ward off competition, find mates and protect their offspring. But to believe in such a theory would dare to suggest a time when monsters weren’t sapient. Yet our history says otherwise. Every race crafted tools, farmed and actively built their own civilization. Or banded with more advanced races.” She happily said like a passionate museum guide. She shrugged. “I think the real answers come from the dungeons. A good number are pretty old.” She added.
“I see.” That made sense, I did have powerful mana, powerful enough that succubi got way too excited and made other monsters freakout. “Thanks Emily. Also here.” I pulled out the handouts and gave it to her and Steph. “Our css has another project due this friday.”
Emily quickly looked through it, her eyes quickly racing side to side and her lips curling into a bigger and bigger smile. “ OH, Look! I even have a cuse written about me~! I’m famous!” She happily cheered as she showed Steph and me.
Steph leaned forward, reading the part Emily pointed out and sighed with a smile. “I think you’re more notorious than famous.” She said with a chuckle.
