Chapter 19: Drunken Madness

Outside the door, He Jie and Song Zhi Dong leaned against the car, calling Wen Qi again and again, but no one answered on the other end.

"Nothing will happen, right?" He Jie muttered to herself, pounding on the car door. "I was only gone for two minutes, less than that, and he's already gone."

"Wait a bit longer, if it's really not working out then call the police." Song Zhi Dong leaned against the wall, staring intently at the people coming and going through the bar entrance, "You continue making the phone call."

"I'd rather die than wear these broken shoes."

He Jie kicked off her shoes impatiently, took out her phone from her bag and dialed Wen Qi's number again.

This time, the head finally made some noise.

"Winter son, winter son, passed!" He Jie casually twisted a handful of Song Zhi Dong's arm, and after a burst of electric current on the other end of the phone, a clear and cold male voice came from the receiver.

  "Hello?"

He Jie thought she must have dialed the wrong number, so she moved her phone in front of her and checked the phone number several times, but it was correct.

Just as he was about to speak, Wen Qi's voice came from the other end of the line: "Then can't you come over and let me give you a hug?"

"My god!" He Jie exclaimed. She was certain that the man on the other end of the phone was a swindler who had cheated honest women out of their money.

She cleared her throat and shouted into the phone: "Who is this? Where's Wen Qi?"

"She's drunk and acting crazy. Do you have something going on?"

He Jie was asked and became a bit dizzy, "Who did I ask?! What's the point of taking Wen Qi away? Return her to me, or else I'll report you to the police right now! Do you believe it or not?"

The name on the other end of the phone left her speechless, "He Mingzhen."

  He Jie: "......"

He Mingzhen stroked the little girl's rosy cheeks in her arms and said into the phone, "She's at my place. Do you want to come pick her up?"

"No, no, no! You, go on!"

  The phone hung up.

Hearing the busy tone, He Mingzhen put down Wen Qi's phone and stuffed it back into her bag. As she lowered her head, their eyes met, a pair of drunken, blurry eyes.

"Congratulations... " Wen Qi stretched out her hand and patted He Mingzhen's face, "How did you change, baby? Why is your face still so small?"

He Mingzhen pulled her hand down, he didn't like this action, "You should go to sleep."

Wen Qi shook her head vigorously a few times, "I'm not sleepy, but I'm really tired..."

"It's time for bed when you're tired."

  I'm not sleeping.

He Mingzhen patted her body, put her arms around her waist and asked, "How can I sleep?"

  "I'm going to sleep!"

Wen Qi's mind was muddled at this time, and everything he said was illogical. No matter what He Mingzhen said, he stared blankly with a pair of eyes, either in a daze or foolishly delighted.

She clung to him as soon as she entered the door and wouldn't let go.

He Mingzhen was at her wit's end.

He could only wait for her to fall asleep before sending her back to her room, and He Mingzhen brought a quilt to wrap her up tightly before leaving.

He leaves for work very early every other day, and Wen Qi wakes up to an empty house.

After finishing shopping, I took a taxi back home and called He Jie on the way.

  "Are you together?"

As soon as they connected, He Jie asked a question out of nowhere.

Wen Qi pressed her temples, a confused expression, "Huh?"

"You didn't bring enough garlic, yesterday when you were being coquettish, you all went to He Mingzhen's house, and Dongzi and I thought you had gotten lost or been cheated by some bad people, but it turns out that you actually went on a secret date with your boyfriend."

Wen Qi had a severe headache and didn't want to discuss these trivial matters with her. "Alright, alright, it's my fault."

"You still know you're wrong, I can tell you, if we don't have a meal together, this matter won't be over, otherwise I won't forgive you. This is losing both my best friend and my chance at love."

"You've been around for so many years and never had such an encounter, how come it just happened to be last night?"

Wen Qi flipped through her phone and suddenly remembered that there seemed to be something important today.
