Chapter 26
All Hell Breaks Loose, Literally
Part 4
Back at the site of the portal, the gargantuan serpent calling herself Set has fully pulled herself into this dimension out of her personal layer of the Abyss. As daunting as fighting an evil goddess all by herself is, she did not come alone. Several legions of troops in flying machines emerge from the portal as well, blocking out the sun with their sheer numbers.
“Now that those scum from Anubis and The Furies are no longer around to meddle and wipe your little diapers, I will deal with your wanton murder! I do not know what tricks you used to kill my sweet, little child, nor do I care. Today is the day you little groveling worms die! Especially you, Paladin!”-Set
“Murder? Is that what you call it when an overgrown garden snake launches a completely unprovoked attack with lethal intent, refuses to enter peaceful relations when given every possible opportunity, causes widespread damage and destruction, and leaves us cornered with no choice but to retaliate?”-Iluna
“YOU DARE TALK BACK TO ME?!! SUCH INSOLENCE!! I will take make time to oversee your eternal torment, personally, and I will be sure to relish the horrors inflicted upon your soul!”-Set
“Wow. Chhtksht must take after his father, because he could at least hold a civil conversation when the situation called for it. You're nothing but a raving, rabid beast. I didn't even know reptiles could catch rabies, you self-proclaimed deity!!!”
“Why if it isn't the instigator! How dare a lowly dungeon talk that way to me! Whatever I've got planned for that repulsive paladin is going to seem like Paradise compared to what you're going to suffer, Traveler!”
Set proceeds to breathe her weapon right at Jade, Alura, and Iluna. Jade teleports them out of the way with his Spatial Magic perk and tries using [Analyze] on the blast as it comes in to protect himself.

“What the hell?! The extremely radioactive elements 57-71 and 89-103 of the periodic table? What kind of bizarre biology do you have?!”
“Alura, Iluna. Don't try and help me fight this giant snake. There's nothing you can do to help, especially if she whips out that breath weapon. Simply being nearby will get you killed, if you're lucky. What I am going to need from the two of you is to try and capture one of those flying craft, as intact as possible, for me to [Analyze]. Then, I'm going to teleport you out of this city, as far as I can, because what I've got planned for this snake is going to be cataclysmic!”
Alura and Iluna can only look at each other briefly and nod before heading off to try and disable one of the fliers for [Analysis].
“LIGHT OF JUDGEMENT!!” cries out Iluna before a beam of holy light descends on the battlefield, surrounding her with a cone point about two meters above her head and descending downward for a radius that takes out several square kilometers, resulting in the pilots of numerous vehicles screaming in agony and crashing.
None of them are even remotely intact as Set fires her radioactive, atomic breath in Iluna's direction, destroying a rather sizable part of her own forces, just to deny Iluna's attempt.
Iluna manages to evade the blast area by sheer luck as she was swooping down to try and evade fire from one of the fliers.
“Firing through your own forces?! Jade's right. You are absolutely insane!”-Iluna
“You think me a fool?! I know full well what you intend! I will not let you have access to our technology, at any price. Besides, nobody from The Abyss ever truly dies. They'll be back again, good as new, in a century or two.”-Set
In the meantime, Alura is flying between buildings, zigzagging to avoid being hit by fire from fliers when a shadow shows up from overhead. She uses her [Assassin] shadow-leap ability to disappear from there as missiles rain down upon where she was just seconds before, and she reappears directly under the offending flier, smashing her way through the window, taking out the pilots and uses her [Disintegrate] magic to consume the entire flier, all at once.

“WHAT?!! NOO!! You will pay for that, rabbit-eared bitch!”-Set
Set fires her atomic breath weapon in Alura's direction, razing the entire neighborhood Alura was in to the ground, but true to his word, Jade had used his new [Space Magic] perk to teleport Alura and Iluna as far away as he could, back to where this all began, the Deokk mines, on the other side of a mountain range.
“Now, it's just you and me, you rabid reptile.”
At the site of what used to be the Deokk mine, Alura collapses to the ground...
“OUCH!! Oh, I am never doing that again.”-Alura.
“I would hope not, honey. You are a right mess. You've got the equivalent of third degree burns over most your body, and fourth-degree over the rest. Your clothes and equipment are in tatters, and quite a few of your extremities are just... gone. Honestly, I'm amazed you're still alive.”-Iluna.
“I bet the only reason I'm not in so much pain that I can't even think of a coherent sentence is because the nerves responsible are shot, eh?”-Alura.
“Dear. When you're right. You're right. I wish you weren't, because fixing you up is going to hurt and we don't have the proper sedation medicine anywhere.”-Iluna
Iluna pulls a rod out from her cleavage and tells Alura to bite down on it, hard, before proceeding.
“It'll help. Trust me.”-Iluna
“Before that, where did this come from? You shouldn't have anything on your body that Jade didn't put there!”-Alura
“A girl has to have her secrets. Now. BITE DOWN ON THIS!”-Iluna
Alura does as she's told and Iluna begins casting her spell.
“Oh, Lady, who art in Heaven. Help this lost and helpless child who was harmed in the battle with evil. Restore that which was lost and make her whole again. In Her sacred name, Amen. SACRED SANCTIFED HEAL!”-Iluna
“HRRRMMMPPPPHHHHH!!!! GGGGHHHHRRRRAAAHHHHH!!” (Rod falls out of Alura's mouth) “AAAAAAAIIIIIIIIYYYYYYEEEEEE@!!!!!!”-Alura

But Alura is in too much agony to process the System Message.
“I wish we had more time to let you heal and recover, but looks like we've got quite a sizable 'welcome' party headed our way.”-Iluna.
The royal army of Sydonia, on horseback, arrives at the ruins of the mine, having ridden hard for a while.
Worldwide System Notice:
The Kingdom of Sydonia has declared war on the Kingdom of Furcadia.
The Holy Kingdom, Adrophallusca, Gynosdistaff, and all other nations on the continent have declared war on Sydonia.
“Well. SHIT!”-Alura
“Yeah. Even if we were at our best, I'm not looking forward to a fight of hundreds of thousands against 2, even if Jade was here.”-Iluna
“Surrender and DIE!” shouts King Sydonia, leading his armies personally.
“AND Die?”-Iluna
“Welcome to Sydonia.” Alura says sarcastically. “We need a diversion.”
“Goddess Ilunas, heed the pleads of your faithful. Judge whether our enemies are righteous in their words and deeds. SWORD OF DAMOCLES!!”-Iluna
“HA! As if your petty tricks mean anything, Whore of Ilunas! MAGES! Prepare the barriers! Archers! Shoot that magical sword down!”

“Grab my hand!”-Alura
The instant Iluna grabs Alura's hand, they both vanish from sight as the Sydonia army is distracted. The king is furious when he sees his intended prey vanish before his eyes.
“Hide all you want, cowards! But you can't run! Men! Search every pile of rubble, leave no stone unturned!”-King Sydonia
“YES, SIR!!”
Moments later, Alura and Iluna appear in a dark, almost pitch black, room with a heavy metal door and the distinctive stains of old nitroglycerin that Jade couldn't absorb before.
“And here is the former mine foreman's office, what remains of it.”-Alura
“So this is where you expect us to fight our last stand?”-Iluna.
“Not exactly. But it is the best place to patch me up so we can try to hold out until Jade can come to us.”-Alura
“He's up against an evil God, you know."-Iluna
“I know, but I have faith in him.”-Alura.
