When the drag show video went online, it set fire to the internet. Snippets of it were reposted everywhere, on every social media, and the number of english comments doubled on Mademoiselle Cyrielle MyTube channel. One person in particur went almost mad with joy. It was Augustin, the event pnner for Bordeaux’s party boat. He had been monitoring the channel, waiting for that day. As soon as he saw the title of the new upload, he ran to his boss and shoved the phone in his face.

  “Book her. Now.”

  Taken by surprise, the owner quickly regained his composure and started pying the video. It didn’t take him a full minute to make his decision.

  “Yes, we need her. But I don’t see any other video of a solo stage, does she have enough content for a full concert ?”

  Augustin almost screamed in frustration, but he forced himself to calm down and showed the comments of the video to his boss.

  “Look at that ! It’s exploding everywhere ! If we wait even one week, I assure you she will be booked at so many pces that we will be left crying on our own. Even Lady Crazy commented on her videos ! So if you want to say in the future “Oh, that famous Mademoiselle Cyrielle ? We booked her when she wasn’t that well-known, I really have an eye for talent !”, you need to have her perform now. It’s your first and st chance.”

  The urgency in Augustin’s voice made the owner twitch. But it was understandable. It wasn’t just about booking a new artist, it was about thinking of the future. That ‘Mademoiselle Cyrielle’ was too good to remain unknown, and he was sure that other people had felt it too. He probably wasn’t the only one to have his eyes on her, so he needed to take his chance now before a pack of hyenas jumped on this new and shiny product.

  “Ok, contact her now. Do you have her phone number ?”

  “No, but I have her manager’s. She gave it to me at the drag show.”

  The boss raised his brows in surprise. That girl already had a manager ? And it was quite a shrewd one, giving her number to an event pnner before they had any fame to speak of.

  ‘Interesting… Really interesting…’

  He couldn’t wait to meet Mademoiselle Cyrielle.

  Mademoiselle Cyrielle’s subscribers were having a meltdown. They were only one hour into the new year, but it was already decided that 2022 would be the best year ever.

  On the first day of its creation, Mademoiselle Cyrielle’s fan club had already more than a thousand members. Of course, Julie kept a close eye on it, immediately contacting the administrator and the moderators.

  ‘If we are on friendly terms, I can use the fans to rey important information, and monitor the public sentiment about Cyrielle… Those guys really are good !’

  The members of the fan club almost fainted when Julie, the manager of their idol, contacted them but they quickly regained their composure. Of course, Mademoiselle Cyrielle was nice, so her manager would be the same. As if to confirm their thoughts, Julie posted a personal video of Cyrielle, she was in her stage outfit before the drag show, warming up her vocal cords. It sent the fans in a frenzy, and they quickly promoted Julie to a moderator role.

  She didn’t know it, but that short video posted to excite the fans had another effect. After making sure that Julie wasn’t online anymore, a message appeared in the ‘Angel’s Horseboys’ group.

  We must protect Mademoiselle Cyrielle. She is so sweet and kind, just imagining her heartbroken is bringing tears to my eyes. She is an existence to be protected at all costs, and her team too because let’s be honest, everybody that works to bring that angel out to the world is a saint.

  You probably all saw some mean comments on her channel and it made your blood boil. Me too. I really want her to have the fame she deserves, but it makes me so mad that the more people know her, the more she receives dumb messages that could scar her precious heart. So starting from now, I’ll list a few rules that every Horseboy must follow to protect their Angel.

  1- Correct people that talk nonsense about our angel, but only in a polite way. Don’t engage in fights or people will say that Mademoiselle Cyrielle’s community is toxic and she will be hated

  2- Always stay polite everywhere on the internet and in real life, we want our angel to be seen as a sweet person with a nice community, so that she can have more opportunities. But that doesn’t mean you can accept nonsense ! Letting people be after they insult our angel is a crime, report every single one of them and ignore those people in real life

  3- Share every Mademoiselle Cyrielle content, show it to your family and friends

  4- Transte Mademoiselle Cyrielle content in every nguage you know. If a fanclub doesn’t exist in one of those nguages, create an Angel’s horseboys group[...]}

  The post was quite long, but every fan read it attentively. French is a nguage that few people speak in the world, so children learn at least one or two other nguages in their lives. It’s also a country with a lot of immigrants, or people with mixed nationalities. Because of all these reasons, the 4th rule was the one that made more people react.

  And on the 3rd of january 2022, eight versions of ‘Angel’s Horseboys’ were created, each in a different nguage. Some only had a dozen members, some a few hundreds, but none could beat the original one where Julie was a moderator. It stood tall with 2,000 members amassed in three days.

  At this point, Cyrielle’s MyTube channel was growing so fast that she had reached 100,000 subscribers, all of that in a little short of two months.

  “So… You're telling me that I am booked for a performance on the boat ? I heard clearly, you talked about ‘The Boat', the famous one that hosts concerts for worldwide artists ?”

  Cyrielle was completely unaware of the situation online, she had been working diligently on her singing ability and was now faced with a new crisis.

  “Yes, you heard correctly. The Boat wants you to do a concert. It must be between one and two hours long, and since you don’t have that much content, you are allowed to invite guests.’

  Julie winked at her and Cyrielle immediately reached for her phone.

  “When is it ?”

  “You are booked for Friday 21st, so you have about two weeks and a half to get ready.”

  Cyrielle sent a message to Hyena and Madame Fabergé, and went to the bathroom to take the call when her phone vibrated. Watching happily, Julie went back to her ptop.

  ‘So… She said it was a group photoshoot in a studio, right ?’

  A day earlier, following Julie's advice, Cyrielle had talked to the drag artists and was invited to join their group photoshoot. It was a common practice : When you don’t have that much money, you take several people in need of a photoshoot and you share the hour in the studio with them, splitting the bill. It gets a bit hectic because you need to take as many photos as needed in a short amount of time, but it’s better than shouldering the price alone.

  Julie had advised Cyrielle to accept, and she now had to choose which outfits to bring. They had also bought makeup for Cyrielle, she couldn’t borrow some everytime. Julie was a bit anxious about the photoshoot because her friend wasn’t the type to pose for photos. But she didn’t need to worry. Something had happened on the day she received the offer.

  The next morning was the day of the photoshoot. Julie was driving the car towards the studio, singing metal songs as usual. But Cyrielle didn’t join her today, she was staring at her best friend with a serious face.

  “You are missing work too much these days. If you continue like that, you’ll end up at the disciplinary committee, or fired.”

  Losing a job was a big deal for Cyrielle, as someone who had suffered from it. So seeing Julie with no care in the world was a bit maddening.

  “I always tell them a few days in advance. I get paid less but who cares ! We’ll receive your first MyTube paycheck tomorrow. You saw the amount, right ?”

  Cyrielle had seen it. It wasn’t much, less than minimum wage since it was a pay for the previous month’s views and ads, but it was still more than what she made in tips with a full month of concerts with ‘Heavy Protector’. Julie wouldn’t get much though, their contracts stated that she would take a 9:1 share, with the 1 for the manager.

  “It’s not enough for you to quit your job.”

  “Yes, but I will be able to do it next month, considering your growing pace ! You don’t know how excited I am !”

  Her friend’s optimism weighed heavily on Cyrielle’s shoulders. If she wanted Julie to live a good life, she needed to be on top of her game and make a lot of money.

  ‘Ready or not, here I come !’

  Cyrielle was determined to make the best photos known to man.
