262. Talks Between Three (Book Four)

The Kingdom of Three was called that for a very simple reason.

It only had three cities, one of whom Raizen had already made quite the connection with. The Kingdom was a fairly powerful one, boasting roughly 10 Immortals in their ranks.

The exact number wasn’t known to the masses as it was in the best interest of the Kingdom to keep that information close to the chest. Even the exact strength of the King wasn’t widely known even to most in the Kingdom.

It is said that their King was a half-step within the Domain Immortal Realm, only needing a small nudge to make that final push, but even if that was true a ‘small’ nudge could mean anything from a year’s worth of effort to a 1000 of them.

Time was never truly black and white when considering Immortals. It was hard for it to be so, when one of them could sleep for the entire life of a mortal man and call it a light nap.

Though, at the moment, there weren’t any Immortals of the Kingdom of Three napping. The situation was a bit tense right now, which was no surprise considering the son of one of three City Lords was beaten significantly, and the life of an Immortal was lost, something that shouldn’t have been so simple.

The news of such thing couldn’t be hidden so easily considering where it happened and the fact the King himself made an appearance there. Needless to say, this was never going to be complete with just Raizen and his people walking away.

Even if the King himself allowed that to be the case, it was never his intention for that to be the end of it. Especially since they received word that Raizen and his people claimed a part of the Ember Fields as their own.

A piece of land that was technically not owned by any one power, but it was so close to the Kingdom that it might as well have been theirs. Suddenly getting a neighbor so close? One that they already had a run-in with? That was never going to be a simple thing.

  …

“I want his head, and I will have it.”

No one immediately responded to the comment as it wasn’t anything new in the last few weeks in the comments passed around the Kingdom. The Kingdom of Three, like any other Kingdom, had many different positions and allocation of power, with the King at the very top of that system.

Directly beneath him were the three City Lords.

Of course there were ministers and other positions of significant power within the Kingdom, but the City Lord were second to only the King within the Kingdom of Three. All three of them, along with the King himself, were located in the room together, seated around a table.

The King rubbed his temples slightly as he looked over to the one who just spoke. City Lord Kizas. The one who felt slighted and clearly wanted the death of the young man who beat his son to almost nothing.

The King, Hizver understood Kizas’ pain, and he would without a doubt react even worse if one of his progenies was treated the same way. In a situation like this, it was less about the fact his child was attacked, and more about the fact he wasn’t able to do anything about.

If he chose to let it happen, then that would be an entirely different matter. Meanwhile in this occasion it was as if he was slapped in the face and then spit on yet could not lift a muscle.

That was never going to be something Kizas would take lying down, it was already a miracle that he didn’t act in that very moment.

“Kizas, I’m afraid we can take no action until our findings are verified.”

The man scowled deeply but he didn’t say a word. Kizas had long since made up his mind that he wouldn’t take this lying down and if it was one thing Immortals had on hand, it was time.

Hizver knew exactly what Kizas was thinking but this wasn’t the time to take a hard stance, he instead shifted his attention to another in the room. City Lord Giveza.

  “What have your people found?”

City Lord Giveza had skin that matched that of Kizas, but she also had a head of long hair that was rigid like stone in one moment, then as free flowing as water in the other. She opened her mouth and a voice that shifted between being both deep and high sounded in the room.

“Nothing has been found…there is no word of any Clan War in the Blashifa Clan. Reports say that they are united as ever. If these people are spawn of that Clan, then they are not banished or runaways, but a dispatched group to this area.”

Her words resounded in the room for a moment, as the thoughts of all the Immortals present took the statement apart and dissected it in far more ways than a regular human would be able to fathom even if they had a year to do it. All in a single second.

The King spoke again. This time…with far more seriousness in his otherwise deep voice.

  “…and the other possibility?”

“Nothing has been found there either. There is only one recorded Infernal in this Universe, and she has not departed that Planet. It has been years since she has moved, and if others joined her on that Planet then we no information about it.

“The chance that this group sports the black flames of Infernals is likely higher than them using the blackened smoke fire of the Blashifa Clan.”

The silence in the room suddenly grew heavy.

This was not Earth, nor was it the home of the Aquatila Empire.

Here they knew exactly what Infernals are and all that they represented. In fact, many of the factions joined Earth in their Tutorial had either had their headquarters, or at minimum significant presence in this very Universe.

Needless to say, Infernals weren’t a secret here, and these Immortals weren’t stupid.

Infernals liked to dress in black, use spears, and most importantly, they used black flames. Now while only Infernals used the Eternal Flame, there were a number of other ways to have ‘black flames’ or things that resembled it.

The Blashifa Clan was one such example, who prided themselves on using fire-like smoke as the core of their abilities and it was obviously black in color. Now while being members of that Clan wouldn’t necessarily be a good thing for the Kingdom of Three since they were not pushovers in the slightest, and just one branch of theirs could compete with the Kingdom of Three…

They were still something they knew, and the Kingdom of Three had ways to combat such a force otherwise they wouldn’t be able to exist as a Kingdom for as long as they had.

Immortals were hard to kill depending on the circumstance, and if they really decided to throw their lives away, even one 1st Stage Immortal could cause a lot of damage to much stronger foes.

Either way, fighting the Blashifa Clan was not something they would want to do, but it wouldn’t be something to cause them to cower in their homes.

Infernals on the other hand…there wasn’t a force in all of the Multiverse that could claim they were superior out loud into the world without starting a war.

They were respected and feared by everyone who knew who they were without question. Even some of the strongest forces in the Universe, on the same level as Infernals would rather not get into conflicts with the maddened people known as Infernals.

Their infamy was deeply understood, and it was always safe to assume they were stronger and more dangerous than you could imagine and then assume that itself was an underestimation.

If they found out that Raizen and his people were Infernals…well…Kizas and the Kingdom of Three would have a decision to make.
